"We are good friends. It's normal for me to invite you to have dinner. If you don't like this restaurant, we can go to an affordable place next time." Eve was careful with her choice of words. She didn't want Cassie to feel inferior.

"Okay, it will be my treat next time." Cassie grinned.

Damian was sitting at a table by the window. A plump, bald man was sitting across from him.

"Mr. Shi, this is our company's final offer. I'm afraid we can't lower the price further."

"Mr. Wang, I suggest you look at the long-term benefits. There is assured profit when you work with JS International. The price will be reduced by five percent," Damian said in a business tone.

He looked around, and his gaze settled on the women to his left, who were laughing their hearts out.

He immediately recognized Cassie by her long hair. He knew that she was a nurse at JR Hospital. Damian had a photographic memory and remembered every woman he had met in his life.

Although the short haircut made Eve almost unrecognizable, it wasn't hard for Damian to recognize Eve as he and Damian had grown up with her.

Nathan and Damian had been good friends before things fell apart. The two had a special bond, which everyone had been jealous of.

People always compared Damian with Nathan. Nathan was always at the top of the game, and Damian would fade in comparison with him. Damian couldn't catch up with his progress even if he worked hard. Therefore, he grew jealous and that created a rift in their friendship.

Later, both Nathan and Damian went abroad to study. They had lost contact and finally drifted apart. Damian had been thinking not to go back to City A, but his father's health was at stake, and he couldn't leave him.

Damian wanted to live a free life and hated to be bound

shirt, Eve was busy shopping for her. She picked six pairs of clothes, three dresses, three pairs of shoes, two pairs of jeans, and five bags that Cassie could use for different occasions.

Cassie walked out of the room, looking like a diva. She chewed her lips nervously and glanced at Eve for her approval.

"Whoa! You look incredible," Eve arched an eyebrow in appreciation.

The shirt complimented Cassie's slender figure, revealing her collarbone. She was looking drop-dead-gorgeous.

"Cas, I've picked these clothes for you. They are my gifts. Come on, try them." Eve smiled, holding the huge bag and ushered Cassie into the fitting room.

When Cassie tried those clothes on, she realized that Eve had a good sense of fashion and had picked the best outfits that complimented her.

Her eyes popped in shock when Cassie saw the bill.

When they arrived at the parking lot, Cassie finally mustered the strength and said, "Thank you, Eve, but these clothes are expensive. I'm sorry, I can't accept them." Cassie was feeling uneasy at the sight of the big bags and flashy clothes. She was worried that she couldn't escape from returning the favor if she accepted Eve's gifts.
