Chapter 142: Finding the locations of several Spirit Trees

The beings he just created had the body of a queen bee and plenty of eyes as many as a spider. Above all, they could travel for a hundred miles and record the journey. A hundred miles, that was their lifespan. Traveling a mile burned a part of their body. Ninety-nine miles meant death.

Elliot believed that his creations, although filled with imperfections, would be able to discover the hiding places of the spirit trees.

For now, though, he could only hope for that to happen and wait for their return.

He gathered many leaves and made a bed out of them. These leaves came from regular trees and didn't have any effects. He plopped down on the bed of leaves. While looking at the partly clear skies, he started whistling.

So many mysteries, when will I clear them all?

The creatures with wings bigger than their bodies buzzed through several trees, searching for the spirit trees. Each of them was covering an area of their own.

Several minutes later, the active spiritual senses of a spirit tree that was out on a hunt caught a source of vitality on its radar. It wasn't like anything it had ever felt before, and it was a far cry from spiritual energy, but it was still a source of nourishment for it.

Immediately, it set its plan in play, intent on hunting down the innocent prey. First off, it determined the trajectory of the source of vitality. Then, it determined the places it would go through. After that, it decided to set up traps in those places.

Its wooden branches extended, bursting outwards and slithering for some distance before wrapping around the trunks and coiling the branches of some trees, hiding in plain sight.

A few minutes later, the moment it sensed the source of vitality passing in between its trap, the spirit tree made its move. Branches with sharp ends burst out from their hiding spot, swiftly making their way towards the golden bee with several eyes.

Their approach didn't escape its notice.

It maneuvered its body irregularly, charging ahead while moving left and right, up and down, dodging the branches coming from its sides and moving past them, slipping away smoothly.

All of that happened in a few seconds.

The spirit tree felt the shock of a lifetime as it failed to capture the source of vitality miserably.

Nevertheless, it was not willing to admit defeat just yet.

It held nothing back and went all out, using all its branches to capture the source of vitality.

As it saw branches of the spirit tree coming from all the sides, Elliot's creation immediately moved upwards, heading towards the open sky.

To its dismay, the branches followed after it.

They were far faster than themselves and were catching up to it at a rate visible to the eyes.

It didn't doubt that they would cage it soon.

Of course, it had no intention of getting caught!

Elliot's creation burned a portion of its body and used it as fuel to increase its speed.

Although it lost thirty percent of its lifespan, it was well worth it.

Just as it looked like the branches would entrap it, its speed increased by so much that it left them all in the dust.

Right at that very moment, the spirit tree poured spiritual energy into its spirit mark, activating its ability to increase the speed of its body parts.

The branches counted as an extended part of its body, and thus, their speed doubled.

Whoosh

In the very next instant, one could several brown lines catching up to a thin and tiny golden dot.

However, once it reached a certain distance above the ground, the branches that were chasing after it suddenly came to a halt, unable to extend a single inch more.

The branches have reached the limits of their extension. Any more and they will fall off of its body.

Elliot's creation looked down and managed to discover the position of the spirit tree. Immediately after, it turned around and went back to its master.

Elliot was chilling and gazing at the sky when one of his many creations came back to him.

He opened his palm, and it landed in the center of it, but then it dissolved into its primary form and sank into his palm, entering his body.

Instead of becoming a part of the essence of life present in his body, the golden liquid went up to his brain and seeped into his hippocampus region.

The moment it entered that part of his brain, memories began to play in his mind.

Elliot watched in full detail the life of his creation. It was a bit disturbing but also exciting because it made him feel more than a human. By the time he digested its memories and found out that a spirit tree was residing thirty miles away from him, several more of his creations came back to him.

He digested them and also absorbed all of their memories.

"Ten spirit warriors are in my north, and some are in my south. Thirteen of them are acting all alone, but four are in a group of two, and the remaining make up a group of three. There's even a family of spirit trees led by a being a stage above spirit warrior in the inner part of this forest."

Elliot slapped his hands on the bed of flowers, pushing himself upwards but also causing shockwaves to bursts out. Flowers raised in the air as he came crashing down towards a tree. Nothing of that sort happened, though. He stomped his foot on the trunk and pushed himself up to the top of the tree.

"Well then, let's start by hunting and consuming the life of those who are all alone," Elliot said while cracking his fingers and stretching his body, relieving his bones from laziness.

Then, he jumped from one tree to another, charging towards the direction of the spirit tree that was around thirty miles away from him.

When he was about to enter the range of its spiritual senses, he manifested his wings and took to the skies, and after reaching 1001 meters into the sky, he started to move ahead.

He was just one meter up its spiritual senses, and thus, the spirit tree didn't notice that he was creeping up to it.

Some moments later, he reached above the spirit tree!

"Let's do this," Elliot said as he moved his body upside down to face the spirit tree. As he started to descend, he flapped his wings, gaining explosive momentum.

He was so fast that he seemed like a ray of light cascading down from heaven. He cut through the air like an arrow and charged towards the spirit tree. The spirit tree felt something entering its spiritual senses, and it gasped, realized that that something was descending towards itself.

It hurried to recall the branches that were far away from its body.

It also used the rest to attack the one approaching it from above.

When he saw several branches coming towards him, he smirked slightly.

What followed after was one-sided domination!
