Chapter 141: Clues to the second trial

While reading the cries of the arrogant but powerful spirit king, Elliot felt excitement but also confusion seeping into every fiber of his being. The tale of the king of kings was fantastic, but the person called Light in the Dark garnered more of his attention.

It wasn't because he managed to defeat the king of kings who was powerful enough to go out of his world and into the stars, invade worlds, and conquer them, but because the name shared similarities with the creator of the stone of worth and Hope.

The moment Elliot finished reading the context of the text, a notification popped up in his mind.

Boom!! But before he could read it, an ear-wrenching sound came out of the surrounding areas, and the clouds above his head also dispersed, almost as if the sky was announcing the end of the world.

The sound was loud enough to explode a human into a bloody mess. If Elliot hadn't enclosed himself inside of a small dome made out of hundreds of units of the essence of life, he would have gotten injured.

Bam!

The tablet exploded into fine pieces of dust.

No!

It wasn't dust!

As he looked closely at it, he realized that these were specks of golden light. The moment they appeared, the sound disappeared, and Elliot stepped out of his protective domain.

These specks joined together to form a magic matrix with symbols in its center. Words appeared on it. Once again, using the power of his eyes, he managed to understand them.

"My treasure land holds a lot of things, from endless riches to resources so spare in the endlessness that even if you search the end of the universe, chances are you won't be able to find them. The magic matrix you see before you will act as your guide. Go to my treasure land and conquer my trials, the challenges of the dragon slayer, to become a legend."

How could the king of kings let his legend and wisdom disappear in the annals of history? For that to not happen, he set up this game.

Believing that this guy must have put immeasurable wealth and advanced knowledge in the treasure lands as well as having no intention of giving up this chance to get closer to something he had always dreamed of achieving, Elliot first used his eyes to make sure that there was no trap in the magic matrix, then he placed his palm on it.

Right after, he felt a surge of warm current entering his hand, traveling to his wrist and instantly converting into a triangle of some sort, giving him immense prickly pain as it did so. He was aware that this pain was inevitable if he were to accept the matrix, but he was willing to endure it for the sake of gaining a way towards glory.

<The magic matrix of treasure hunting has become a part of your body>

[Name: Treasure hunting

Type: Magic Matric

Description: Once you pour fifty units of spiritual energy into it, a map leading to the first treasure land of the king of kings will appear before you.

[Except for that, you can also record a hundred portions of your memory into it.]

"How much is it going to cost?"

<A unit of spiritual energy.>

Right after he received an answer from Hope, the statue of the man riding a unicorn rotated, giving him a bit of shock.

After facing him, the eyes of the horse and the man lit up in an emerald hue, and then a majestic voice sounded out of the statue.

"Here lies the grave of the strongest Spirit King, Godfrey Brown. Pay your respect, mortal!"

Although the king of kings had lost the will to live and performed an act of cowardice, taking his own life, he still gave him a slight bow. After all, this person was, in a sense, his benefactor.

Just like before, rays of light came out of the eyes of the man as well as the horse, clashing with each other in front of him, taking the shape of a screen with words in it. If he hadn't paid his respect, this would've never happened. Of course, Elliot was oblivious to this fact.

[Congratulations! You've found the main clue of the second trial]

[You've earned the right to gain more knowledge about the trial]

[If you have any questions, please ask away]

He had a lot of unanswered questions!

"What do I need to do to complete this trial?" Elliot asked after a moment.

[To complete this trial, you must gather 100 spirit points.]

"How do I gain them?"

[Each time you kill a spirit warrior, you will gain ten points]

"I killed a tree in the spirit warrior realm a while ago. Did I get any point for it?"

[Yes, you did.]

[Current Points: 10/100]

He needed 90 more points to be done with this trial!

"What if I hunt down someone stronger than a spirit warrior?"

[If you kill someone in a higher realm than a spirit warrior, you'll gain extra points]

"At what part of this forest am I?"

[You're near the entrance to the inner parts of this forest where beings stronger than spirit warriors reside.]

"Is there any spirit tree near me? Can you tell me where I could hunt them?"

"That I can not say."

It's up to him to find and slay spirit trees.

Elliot sighed but immediately decided to search for the spirit trees.

Golden droplets seeped out of his forefinger and dropped to the ground as several units of the essence of life vanished from his body. Just as it looked like they would touch the ground and become nourishment for the land, wings sprouted out of them. Tiny Eyes, a lot of them, also appeared all over the droplets.

"Go and search for the spirit trees," Elliot commanded.

They flapped their wings and spread out in all directions.
