283 Lady Vs Lady

"It all depends on how well you plan and use that knowledge," Amelia chipped in then went yo take a seat among the chairs at the table.

"Good thinking, Amelia," Lorelei praised her while she stared at nothing in particular as she let her thoughts roam freely.

Minutes passed and Lorelei was still clouded in her thoughts until Amelia broke her out of her reverie.

"I would need proper training, my lady. I need all the help I can get."

"Sure. I would prepare you."

"Thank you."

"Do not thank me, this is why I needed you away from the handsome assassin that blew your mind away. How is he by the way? Is he still the one ploughing your insides with need?"

"I am afraid yes. Being with him did not one bit make me forget my goal, my lady. It even brought me closure and an untold joy."

"I am happy for you then. What about the princess. Has she come to terms with the fact that she lost him?"

"No."

"Oh, so you have a danger still lurking above your head?"

"Yes. When the time comes, I would use it to my benefit."

"I wonder what you have in mind for her. Regardless, she is the princess and is always surrounded by guards. Just be careful."

"If I didin't know better, I would have said my lady is beginning to show care."

"I am not a stick, you know," Lady Lorelei said and both of them burst out laughing.

Seconds into their laughing, both of them paused. It was Lorelei who stopped laughing first, followed by Amelia.

Their smiling faces instantly changed to a serious one as they stood on alert.

"Someone is approaching," Amelia stayed and made her way to the window. "I better go."

"You can hide instead. I know who is coming. Trouble."

At the same time, Lady Erwina left her chambers and walked down to the farthest part of the castle in search of one person, Lorelei.

By the time she got there, she raised her hand, about to knock on the door when a voice made her stop.

"Come in."

Immediately, the door opened to reveal Lorelei standing near her wok table. Lady Erwina's brows furrowed as she squinted at the scene in front of her.

'Who then just opened the door?' she thought to herself. 'But then again, on a second thought, she is a sorceress.'

Clarifying her thoughts, Erwina made her way into the house and the door closed on its own behind her.

Sher turned her head to the side to talk a quick glance at the door before returning her gaze back to Lorelei who did not bother welcoming her.

"Is that anyway to welcome an ally?" Lady Erwina asked.

"If you are looking for a welcoming parade, then you have come to the wrong place. I suggest you got to your supporters and people to do just that for you. I have no time to bother in welcoming you just because you an ally."

"Speaking about yourself?" She finished with the potion she was preparing and went ahead to stock them up in the shelves, ultimately ignoring Erwina. "I only speak that way to people who are deserving of it."

"I did not come here to exchange meaningless words with you," Lady Erwina started to say.

'Good that you realized only meaningless chatter comes out from mouth, Erwina.' Lady Lorelei said to herself in her mind.

In as much as she wanted to say those words to her, she stopped herself from doing lest she further make the royal concubine, crazy with anger.

"Lorelei, where is Cullen?"

Erwina was already tired of exchanging words that did not matter with Lorelei and went straight to the point, hitting the nail on the head.

"What kind of a question is that?"

"The very question it portrays," Erwina fired back at her. She was not going to let Lorelei talk her down anymore but Lorelei did not even care about doing such.

She was more concerned about what Erwina wanted with Cullen than the former's blabber mouth.

"Where is he?" Erwina asked again. She was growing impatient and had started having doubts about Lorelei being on her side.

"How should I know where he is?"

"Isn't he you r ward?"

"Should I monitor his every move because he is my ward? What is wrong with your twisted thinking? If you have business with Cullen, then why come to me?"

By now both ladies have begun raising their voices at each other. Lorelei was tired and definitely not pleased to be having this meaningless talk with this woman.

"Because your ward is not in the palace!" Erwina yelled at her.

"What? What do you mean by not in the palace?'

"You want to tell me you do not know?" Erwina arched her brows at her as she titled her head backwards a bit.

"What part of I am not monitoring him didn't you understand? Is it the, 'I am not' or the 'monitoring him part?' that you failed to get into your head?"

"Lorelei!"

"ERWINA!"

"Know your place."

"I could virtually say the same to you. Speak with courtesy or else."

"Else what?" Erwina challenged her, taking a step closer with her head raised up in a domineering manner.

'When a chick wants to fly like an eagle, the owl only ends up eating it.' Lorelei said inwardly and matched her step towards Erwina so they were on par with each other.

"Trust me, Erwina, you do not want to know."

No one backed down, both of them stared each other in the eyes foir a while till eventually, Erwina relaxed and took a step back , turning to her side.

"Cullen went to East Bane with Owen since seven days ago and have yet to return," Erwina voiced out.

"So, what has this got to do with anything?"

"I control East Bane and he has gone to expose some things to the king. He is supporting the prince. Cullen is ruining my plans."
