Avery rose up from her bed and walked up to where King Regin stood and looked her father in the eyes.

"I have got to admit, papa. You were one step ahead of me."

All these while, King Regin stood his ground and gazed down at his daughter, not uttering one word to her.

His eyes held a mixture of varying emotions in them.

There was anger, disappointment, sadness and lots more.

"You deliberately disobeyed me, Avery!" His calm and deep domineering voice that sent chills down the spine of all those who heard it reverberated in the prison cell, causing slavery to tremble a bit.

As quickly as it came, she could pretended as though she was not affected but that slight movement caught her father's attention.

He furrowed his brows further at her as his brows deepened into a V shape at the space between both brows.

"Father," she began to say but Regin cut her short.

"What wrong have your mother and I done to you? You disobeyed both of us, not once, twice or thrice. Countless times, Avery, countless times."

As Regin spoke, his shoulders slouched as he took two steps closer to Avery.

Quickly Avery spoke, trying to divert the conversation.

"I never saw it coming that you of all people would stop me. Wow father!"

"Shouldn't that tell you how precious you are to your mother and I and the kingdom?"

"Father I am sorry."

"I know you are a warrior princess and for that I am proud but I am also scared. There would be plenty other opportunities but for now baby, please stay put in the palace."

He looked her straight in the eyes and knew she felt guilty and bad but there was another emotion being displayed in her eyes.

It showed determination.

He knew if she had the opportunity, she would break free and set out again. Regin was left with no other choice but to lock her up in the prison as it would be a bot harder for her to come from there than one of the rooms in the palace.

"I wonder where you took your stubbornness from?"

"You of course," Avery blurted out without a second thought.

As soon as the words fell out of her mouth, Avery paused and smiled at her Thanks .

"Even of you chose not to say it, I already know it. The only problem is that yours is difficult and too much."

"Hehhe, well children are meant to be better than their parents in anything and it just so happens that I was close but you won. Fast thinking, papa."

Even though she was complimenting him and it felt good, he just dod not want to be complimented for such a thing by his daughter.

It basically meant she was determined to win him.

He knew Avery had the fighting spirit in her. She never gave up and would always put up a chase till she got what she wanted.

"What would I do to make you stop this suicide mission, Avery?"

"Father you know its jot a suicide mission to he concerned about my brothers. They are the only ones I have. I want to be able to fight side by side with them. I have trained and waited for an opportunity like this. This is something the whole realm wants and who better than us who were wronged from the onset to get our hands on King Draco's grand child?"

She took a deep breath and exhaled sharply before going to seat down close to her father.

"Elvenden needs this. We need to win and I am mad at myself that the hybrid slipped through my fingers when I had her cornered times and times again."

"I understand you but I need you to trust me on this, child. Stay home and leave it to them. Trust that they would be fine. She is not at her best yet, giving us a better chance plus we haveore troops than last time. They would be fine."

"Alright. I guess at this stage, there is nothingore hat I can do, can I?"

"No and yes."

Avery snapped her head to the side to look at her father. "What do you mean, father?"

"I have a preposition for you. A deal perhaps."

She narrowed her eyes and tiltednher head back as her gaze remained lock on her father.

"Are you serious?"

"Yes."

"Okay, let us hear your deal, father."

Sigh!

"I would grant you your long time wish," Regin announced and Avery arched her left brow at him then waited for him to explain.

"I would personally train you and duel with you till you can surpass me, even in speed. And I am sure you know what it means for you to win me?"

"Yes, papa." Although her face remained blank but the joy in her voice Gabe her away.

It has been something she had wanted since she was a teenager, for her father to teach her.

Also, in the full kingdom, no one could rival the princes in combat. Their speed, skills and others were top notch. They really were a chip of the old block.

Although, Prince Blade stood on top and f the food chain, it was only their father would could come close to him in speed.

Terrence himself still had a long way to go in catching up with his younger brother.

So now, Avery was getting a chance to be trained by the second best, her father who not only was second in speed but had years of experience in combat than any of them.

If she can train and beat her father in a duel, that would only mean one thing.

"I would be closer to being on par with brother." Avery's face lit up from thw news.

That was by far a better deal than she could have ever asked for.. All of a sudden her smile faded and she became serious once more.

"You promise papa?"

Avery had to ask and be sure cause he had told her he would train her on several occasions but he never had time to do that and he kept to himself mostly, so she could learn nothing from him, but now,

she was determined.

"I am sure. I promise, baby girl. It is you and I till the boys arrives."

"Yay!" She stood up at once from the excitement and jumped up twice before turning to fave King Regin.

"You have yourself a deal, father. I can't wait to show Blade and Terrence when they return."

"Good. Training starts at 8 in the morning, tomorrow. Don't be late or else... "

"I won't be, father. You have my word."

That was all it took for Avery's crazy taste to he with her brothers to be quenched.

Getting the assurance he needed, Regin stood up and made his way to the cell doors as Avery followed behind.

As soon as he was a feet away from the door, he turned around to look at her.

"Tonight you stay here."

"What! Father, I thought we had a deal?" Avery was alarmed by her father's words. How could he do this to her?

"Yes, we had a deal but that does not change the fact that you disobeyed me, countless times at that and in front of my subjects, Avery. Your actions must be given the right punishment lest my subjects follow suit or even think of me as a weak king."

"But father, please... "

"I think you should be happy," King Regin interjected. "It is quite better than sleeping in the wild. It would be only for three dats."

"Papa, you said only for tonight!" Avery protested and scrubched her face into a pouting frown.

"It is for your own good. I had decided to leave you in the dungeons till your brothers, Terrence and Blade arrived."

"You have got to be kidding me."

"Your mother begged me to let it be three days. As a princess you canntngo Scott free, but since we had a deal, I would make it two days. The next time something like this happens, you would be stripped of all your title."

King Regin spoke like a king giving his verdict to an accused before him. His eyes held no form to of emotion and Avery knew her father was deadpan serious.

"Okay father. I accept my punishment. It won't happen again, your majesty."

"For your sake it better not."

He turned around swiftly and the doors opened almost immediately paving way for him to come out.

As soon as he left, the doors closed with a loud bang.

Avery's knees final gave way and she fell to the ground, letting the tears soak her top as she went.

She knew she disappointed her father and no matter how hard she tried to deviate it all, she couldn't escape this punishment this time.

"Two days and I am free. Not bad."
