"I kissed you?" Astrid could not believe her ears right now.

She had de ides not to give in to Jareth again but then all these happened and he kissed her.

So why now was he saying she kissed him first?

"Just forget about it. It wasn't that special anyway."

Badum!!

"What is wrong with you, Jareth? Why do you always behave this way?"

"Behave in what way?"

"Like you do not get hurt by anything. Like nothing matters. Until when would you shut yourself in and shut the world out? Why keep your feelings bottled up?"

She could see his pain in his eyes, but he still did not want to let anyone in to help share the pain and probably take it away.

"If you really cared, you would think about how I feel when you choose to disobey me and flirt around with Cari."

"Stop it. I am not flirting around with anyone. Just let me in, talk to me please."

"I can't Astrid, there is nothing you or anyone can do to change it."

"Let me in. After all we've been through together how can you still say that, Jareth?"

"Yes, I wonder how you can say that. After all we've been through together, how can you just jump and go after him like I mean nothing to you?"

Astrid was left speechless by his accusations. She knewnhe was hurting but until when would he shut her out and be acting all this cold to her?

With mouth slightly agape, she took two steps closer to him, reaching for his hands but Jareth pulled away and turned his back to her.

Her face fell instantly. There they went again.

While she pondered on what to do, Jareth spoke.

His next words stabbed at her heart deep that it left her speechless.

"Go to your new lover, there was nothing special between us anyway. I accept he blame. I kissed you first and it is as though... I should never had. Since you like him, then go to him."

He bent down and picked his shirt then wore it over his head and left the room, leaving her behind without a second thought.

"Ah... Aaaa... " the words hung in her mouth and she fell to her knees.

"Master," Snow called out to her but Astrid did not reply.

"Snow... It hurts so much. Why?" The tears she had been managing to keep in suddenly fell out as she cried her heart out.

She was in so much pain. His words were like a sharp knife that stabbed at her heart severally.

She knew from their past experiences that it wasn't because he did not like her but something was an hindrance making him reject her feelings.

Even the way he kissed her conveyed all forms of emotions and passion.

It wasn't lust, but something more.

Now being pushed by the same person she cherished... Astrid felt her heart was torn into shreds.

"Master."

There was so many things on his mind right now and he was boiling with rage.

His anger was not centered at anyone in particular but on himself.

He could not believe she was right there, yet he said those awful words to her and pushed her away.

He so much wanted to hug her and hold her close and tell her it was going to be okay.

He wished he could say all those things and more to her and at the same time he couldn't.

He did not deserve her. She deserved better.

There was nothing he could give to her except to pet her go.

'Is this love? She has captured and enslaved my heart so much that it hurts a thousand times more when I see her eyes laced with tears. I want her but I cannot have her.'

He turnednto look at their house and sighed. "I am sorry, Astrid. I wish it was a different circumstance, then I would not have held back my feelings for you and make you mine. Forgive me for picking you second."

Jareth took a deep breat, turned around and walked on.

Somewhere behind a house, close to where the toilet was, Cari is seen talking with someone in a whisper.

His hand bearing the exile mark, lit up and produced a green ray of light.

From the light, the image of the mer princess, Marin, could be seen.

"What news have you so far?" Maria asked.

"I have succeeded in gainingbher trust your highness. And I am warming myself close to her. In no time, I believe she would like me and then I can carry out the plan."

"And the elf? What about him? Especially the white tiger phoenix beast? How do you intend on taking her with both of them around?"

Just then Jareth arrived at where Cari was, but due to the fact that he had his back facing Jareth, he could not see the intruder arrive.

Quickly, Jareth hid close to the house and due to his heightened senses, he did not need to get close before he could hear him.

"I succeeded in causing a rift between them. In no time, she would be mine and I can take her away."

"Good. I expect you to not fail me, Cari. Do this right and I would grant your wish."

"Thank you, princess."

"Bloody bastard. I knew we could not trust him. Oh Astrid, what have I done! My pushing you away made you accept him. I wonder who he is talking to but I cannot trust him. The way he clung to her... I knew he had hidden motives to tear us apart and I stupidly let it happen. I would make him pay for even thinking of hurting her.'

Without talking, Jareth came out from where he was hiding and took a step forward to where Cari was.

He was going to deal this merman the beating of his life this morning.

Just before he took another step forward, a voice called out.

"Hey!"

Upon hearing the voice, Jareth quickly hid while Cari stopped what he was doing and ran away.

'Run all you want, I would get you.'

"Hey, you, elf boy!" The voice came out again.

Jareth turned his head to the direction of the voice and his eyes came to land on the second in command, Brad.

"Yes? What do you want with me?" He retracted his step to where Brad was till they were both standing a meter apart.

"The leader wants you. Today is the day of your test or you can call it trial. If you pass this test, you would be a full fledge member of the village, yourself and your lover, the fine girl."

"Okay. I would go back to the house and get prepared first then," Jareth said and turned bin the direction to their house.

"I am sorry you cannot go?"

Not uttering a word, Jareth raised his left brow at Brad.

"Why?" His aura changed instantly to something more cold and deadly.

"That is according to the leader's orders. All you need have been prepared for you and waiting. Your challenge would be outside the four walls of this village."

"Okay, what exactly would it be?"

"That is for Sir Clive to decide. I am here to escort you to his house and then you leave immediately."

After some thought on it, Jareth finally agreed and followed him.

'Cari just you wait. I would make you pay once I return.'

Soon they got Clive's house and Jareth was merged with one other guard.

He was to go to the depths of the bushes not so far from there and hunt.

As easy as it may seem, it was home to several dangerous types of beasts and only the brave who can come out alive, deserved to be in this village.

He wanted to see Astrid before he left but Clive forbade it saying it would only distract him from the goal at hand.

He agreed and together with the other man, both set off into the unknown.

It took sometime but Jareth and the manbfinally got to their destination.

"Here we go, I would not be assisting you in the hunt whatsover. This is to sebhow well you can join the men in fending for our village."

"Alright."

Without another word, Jareth unsheated his sword at his waist  and took his stance.

"Here comes nothing. It is now or never."

~ELVEN KINGDOM~

Back at the palace of the elves, King Regin made his way to the dungeon and the guards greeted him when he came to a stop at one particular cell.

"Open the door." His deep and commanding voice rang out.

Quickly, both guards yielded his words and soon the door to the prison cell pushed open.

Steppinside the poorly lit room, Regin came to a stop close to the bed.

A pair of green eyes blinked in the dark and the owner finally got up.

"Hello father!"
