59 Step-Mother

Although she didn't want to, she knew it was the right thing to do. So, after she visited her brother and spent a few days over there. She decided to go to her step mother's mansion. She couldn't call it the Lu mansion anymore, it would only confused.

Thinking of her father, Anna sighed. It seemed she would have to make a stop to China as well, she would avenge Li Chen and get her mother back from that man.

Anna stood in front of the familiar door, the previous time she was here she was on a wheel chair, she was weak and couldn't stand up for herself. Never would she have thought that she would actually come here on her own free will.

Anna rang the doorbell, taking a deep breath she prepared herself.

A middle aged woman answered the door, Anna remembered this woman all too well.

She had been the Lu family.....well, this Lu family's housekeeper for years.

She never stopped reminding Anna of how useless she was when she lived here. Even Paula got her own share of insults from this woman.

Anna smiled warmly at her, she could see the surprise on the woman's face.

"Hi, Mrs Bella"

"A...A...Anna?"

Anna nodded, still smiling before she walked in not waiting for an invitation.

It was so convenient that everyone was sitting in the living room.

Anna walked over to them with a smile on her face, she waved and sat next to Rose.

Ignoring the surprised looks on their faces she held Rose's hands "How have you been?"

Rose smiled brightly, staring at Anna from head to toe "I've been good little sis"

Anna nodded and turned to her step mother. "Hello Clara, it has been a while"

No one noticed how forced her smile was. "Lily....it's nice to see you as well"

Lily scoffed and looked away, so what if she could walk now? she still hated her! she couldn't wait till when they were both alone. Then she can beat the living daylights out of her!

Lily smirked just thinking of how swollen Anna's face would be.....

3 hours later, the person who ended up with a swollen face was of course, Lily.

After saying her 'sincere' goodbyes and secretly laughing at Clara's ugly expression.

Anna left the mansion with a light heart.

"Bai Sheng wait!" Xi Yao was desperate. She made her daughter trick her son into meeting her but now....the minute he saw he just turned around and walked away.

"Bai Sheng please, just let me make things right!"

Bai Sheng halted his steps, he turned around to look at her and scoffed "Make what things right? Is it a coincidence that you suddenly want to make things right after I became the General?"

Xi Yao shook her head "Son...."

"Please don't call me that! As far as I'm concerned, I don't have a mother."

Xi Yao's tears began to fall "Don't say that.....I'm sorry Bai Sheng. I am so sorry"

Bai Sheng stared at her face and laughed sarcastically "Tears?...do you remember what you told me when I cried and begged you?

You said you will never regret your decision right? you said i was a mistake didn't you?

Now you are here apologizing, do you think its that easy?"

Xi Yao reached her hand fir her sin's face but he immediately pushed it away "Don't!.....all of that affection, when I needed it the most, you never showed it.....so please, I hope this is the last time I see you in this lifetime"

Bai Sheng had always tried to be strong in front of everyone, he didn't meant anyone to see that weak side of him but....he was really hurt today, so hurt that his eyes were prickling with tears.

He turned around and walked away as fast as he could. He.....couldn't do it, he couldn't bring himself to forgive her.

Anna decided to rent her own apartment, she wanted to learn how to be independent.

She kept thinking of when she could go to China. She was afraid that she wasn't ready but a part of was telling to avenge Li Chen's death, even if it meant dying in the process.

But what Anna didn't know was that she was...getting obsessed. She was getting so driven by revenge that she could hardly see anything else. It had become an obsession of hers to kill Lu Zhang!

Anna's phone rang when she was busy unpacking.

"Hello? Bai Sheng?" it was silent for a while before he finally spoke

"Where are you?"

Anna noticed the difference in his voice, she couldn't help but feel that he sounded....sad.

"Is everything okay?"

Bai Sheng ignored her question "Send me your address "

"O....Ok, I'll send it" Anna said before hanging up.

After she sent it, it didn't take 20 minutes before she heard a knock on the door.

Anna sighed and opened the door, he was so quick.

"...." the man's usual demeanor seemed to be shattered as there was actually a sad expression on his face. Just what happened?

Anna looked at Bai Sheng's face but was caught unaware when he suddenly hugged her, burying his face in the crook of her neck.

"Bai Sheng? did you drink?" Anna could smell the alcohol on him. Was he so sad to that extent?

"Can we just...stay like this for a while?...please?"

Anna heard his voice and immediately hugged him back patting his back.

"Ok....we can stay like as long as you want"

Bai Sheng hugged her tighter. He could only bring down his defenses when he was around her.
