Chapter 99 - Glass

With a smirk, Tiona added

"Well? What are you waiting for? Come!"

Hearing her words, the Minotaur didn't care about her as it stared at Ethan as the latter wasn't paying any attention to the former.

But, before it would even be able to think about trying to approach Ethan, Tiona was already in front of him as she kicked its face, sending it against the wall.

"You should pay attention to the opponent in front of you! Don't think that I will allow you to endanger Ethan again"

As she said so, she saw as Ais was now next to her as she turned towards her before asking

"Can I.. take care of it..?"

Even though she said these words calmly, to Tiona, she wasn't calm at all.

'..Woah. Ais is angry. It would be good to watch, but I want to fight as well'

Thinking this, she shook her head as she added

"We, will take care of that monster. You know, you aren't the only one who is angry..."

Her words, brought Ais to nod as she decided it was better to cooperate before Ryuu went against the two as well. This because, she couldn't afford to make the person liked by Syr to die in the Dungeon.

Staring at her for a moment, she didn't say anything while activating [Ariel] as it surrounded her whole body...

As the situation with the Minotaur continued, Tsubaki joined as well while Ethan was dealing with the aftermath of the Monster's rampage. The fact most adventurers recovered from the blow, was quite reassuring, but, one of them received the blow rather heavily as the latter didn't have time to use defence magic...

'Lefiya..'

Immediately approaching her, Ethan checked her condition as he saw that she had her arms broken from trying to defend against the blow. Gritting his teeth, he gave an icy glare to the Minotaur as he immediately bought a High-Level HP potion at the price of 70,000SP.

'I guess a lower level was enough, but I can't be silly right now. I won't save SP when I know I can buy a potion that can easily help her'

Thinking this, he felt his rage increasing by the second as all he was trying to do from before was shattered so fast that he wasn't able to react in time.

'I am feeling like everything I was doing until now was pointless. Even if I was acting considering her safety, she still ended up being hurt by something that was looking for me...if only I had the strength to defend myself from that attack..'

Seeing the expression he had on his face, Lefiya stared at him in worry as he removed the cup of the potion while making her drink the contents as she immediately felt her arms were healing.

'Maybe.. he's blaming himself for what happened?'

Thinking about this, she knew they actually had no time to waste as they had to support the fight that was going on, but, she was about to add something before Ethan's expression returned to normal as he added

"Lefiya..I'm sorry..How do you feel?"

The fact he was calling her, made her flinch as she replied

"Y-Yeah? I'm f-fine.."

Hearing this reply, he released a sigh of relief as he offered her a hand to help her. This action, brought a blush on her face as she accepted his kindness while he added

"I..I'm sorry to ask you this, but, do you think you will be able to use your magic? If you don't have Mana, I'll give you a potion"

"I..I'm f-fine! I still have Mana!"

Seeing that she looked away, he stared at her while remembering that he could actually do something important.

'Light... your report function works for others as well, right? I need you to scan her, just her mana pool is enough'

At his words, Light immediately replied

[...You have to be in physical contact with her, otherwise I won't be able to calculate it.]

Understanding, he continued to stare at her as he placed his hands on her shoulders while she flinched from the sudden action. With a huge blush on her face, she moved nervously her hands as she, from Tiona's teasing, was even more conscious than normal regarding him.

"W-W-What..!?"

Without replying to her question, he saw as Light immediately finished her report.

Continuing to stare at her, he removed a hand from her shoulder just to quickly hit her on the forehead as he gave her a high-level Mana Potion.

"Drink it"

Rubbing the spot where she was hit, she wanted to know why everyone, even him, had to hit her to make her understand something but, she decided to not say anything about it as, with her blush still on her face, she opened the cup of the potion before drinking it while Ethan inspected his surroundings as if to be ready for a sneak attack from the Minotaur.

'At this moment, I honestly don't care about why the Dungeon wants to kill me.. but, at least now I know I am the actual target. The Dungeon would never send a monster of this level to deal with a level 2 nobody, so there surely is a reason for its behavior...'

Glaring at the Minotaur, he shook his head to clear these thoughts from his mind as he returned his focus on the situation he was in.

Seeing the percentage of her mana quickly increasing, he released her while she tightened the grip on her staff with a determined, yet embarrassed expression.

'I..I don't know w-what happened..but..for now we have to focus on the fight..!"

Now that he was sure that Lefiya was okay, he could focus on to more important matters as he turned his head to look at the Minotaur.

"Lefiya, let's do our best to support them"

His words, brought her to nod as she immediately prepared a spell while he started to chant his [Sagitta Magica], as well as using his [Boost Magic] to boost the power of each arrow.

'I never used it with such power, but I have to do something. This monster is here for me, and it injured the person whom I was trying to protect so hard, so I won't let it disappear so easily'

Thinking this, he decided to use it without an element as it was more complicated to use something he had less proficiency with.

Adding his [Boost Magic] to the equation, brought the arrows to start to emit flashes of light from the tip as they started to make a sound similar to the reaction that occurs when two flints come into contact with each other.

'Not yet.. Not powerful enough...'

Continuing to give his own mana without a care in the world, Ethan knew this wouldn't end up well but, at that moment, he just had one thought in mind..

'I have to kill this monster..'

Hearing the sounds, the group that was fighting the Minotaur looked at Ethan's spell as they understood, from a glance, that the spell was quite powerful..

Smiling at him, Tiona lent a blow on the Minotaur as she could see that the latter didn't want that attack to reach itself.

'Interesting. This monster's intelligence is quite high!'

The fact she calmly had time to think, was due to the fact that she wasn't alone, but with others that could stop it in case something happened.

Seeing them retreating to not get involved in the arrows, Ethan nodded as he, without hesitation, threw his arrows all at once against it.

Even though the Minotaur was quite fast itself, it saw nothing as they crossed the 50 meters at the 'speed of light' before they pierced the Minotaur, generating hole after hole in its whole body as it couldn't help but step down at every hit, as if even the arrows itself wanted to overpower him.

With this happening right in front of them, the various adventurers were shocked as they didn't expect such a thing, but, they immediately returned onto their own Minotaurs as they were continuing to spawn.

Finding himself with his whole body pierced, The Minotaur tried to remain standing as blood quickly came out of its mouth. Placing the sword on the ground as a foothold, it stared at Ethan in hate as the latter laughed sarcastically as he glanced at the Mana that remained in his body.

'I miscalculated the quantity of mana I wanted to use to boost my arrows..but..at least..I don't regret it'

Feeling weak, Ethan closed his eyes as he felt as if the world around him was spinning with him in the centre, very similar to a rather high level of nausea while Lefiya, that was about to say something to him, saw as he fell down without saying anything.

'Eh?'

Was all that she could think about as she saw him 'collapse' as her body reacted without her even knowing what she was doing.

Immediately going next to him, she didn't know what to do while she glanced at the 'battlefield' as the first to come was Ais who, without actually saying anything, took him on her shoulders. Moments after this, Tiona arrived as well before adding

"Ahh! That magic was really unfair! I wanted to finish it myself.."

Even though Lefiya wanted to add something, she felt like she couldn't as Tiona saw the state he was in and, she wasn't surprised.

"Well, I expected him to end up like this, so I will do mine and Ais' work in hunting the few monsters still alive...don't worry!"

Saying this, Ais nodded as the two saw her leaving with a smirk on her face. Now alone with Ais, Lefiya looked down as she finally found something she wanted to say.

"Sorry, if I didn't react in time to help him, even though you came moments after.."

At her words, she shook her head as she felt him sleeping peacefully..

"It's his own fault.."

Hearing her, Lefiya immediately turned to look at her as she saw that her expression clearly said that she was 'angry' at him..

"Are you a-angry..?"

Being asked this question, Ais nodded as she added

"When he acts like this..it reminds me of Tiona.."

Was all that she said before Lefiya went into her own world as she had various thoughts in mind..
