Chapter 29 - The Spider Lord's Blackmail

Chapter 29 The Spider Lord’s Blackmail

Celia had lost all her strength to struggle. She was overcome by intense fatigue, and her eyelids began to feel heavy. Just as she was about to fall asleep, she vaguely heard the sound of conversation coming from outside the spider web.

Her spirits lifted and she immediately sobered up.

Was it an adventurer who was passing by?

That’s great, she might be saved.

She immediately shouted for help, “Is there anyone outside? Save me, I’m here!”

She began to struggle again.

Suddenly, the commotion outside stopped. A chill ran down Celia’s spine. Could it be that the sound just now was an illusion?

“Hey, let’s just let her go,” The voice that suddenly rang out again was even clearer. It seemed to be outside the spider web, very close to her. It was the voice of a man who sounded very gentle.

This time, she didn’t shout and listened quietly to the sounds outside.

“If I let her go just because you say so, wouldn’t I lose face? So many of my underlings are watching. Since she killed so many of my underlings, it’s very difficult for me to let her out just like that.”

“If you really care so much about them, why did you let go of the previous adventurers? You never intended to hurt her, right?”

“I’m really sorry, but I’ve changed my mind. These rude adventurers really don’t know any manners. They’re simply barging into other people’s houses every day without caring if the owner agrees or not. I’ve decided to kill all the adventurers who come into the cave in the future, starting from this one.”

Celia, who was wrapped in the spider web, was shocked. Was the woman who spoke the Lord of this cave? Who was the man she was talking to? Was it also a powerful monster?

The man spoke again, “You’re joking, right?”

“What do you think?” The woman sneered.

After a short silence.

“I get it. Is it because I’m here that you want to raise the price?”

“Hmm, how is it?” The woman’s tone sounded like she was asking for a beating, and it made Celia’s fist itch.

“Alright, alright, I’ll let you stay at the bar counter for an hour every day from now on,” The man had no choice but to compromise.

Celia was stunned for a moment.

The bar counter? What bar counter?

“Only an hour? Let’s just kill her. ”

“Two hours! I can’t give you more.”

“Oh, her muscles seem to be pretty good. She should be chewy.”

“Do you want to stay at the bar counter forever?”

“That sounds good.”

“Don’t joke around. What about the work outside the bar? Who’s going to wait on the customers?”

Wait a minute, what work were they talking about? What kind of customers were they waiting on? Wasn’t that woman the Lord of the monsters here?

Could they be working in some strange place?

Celia’s mind was already in a mess.

“Isn’t there still Neelu?” The woman continued.

“If you can stop her from sleeping at work, I have no objections.”

After a short silence, the female voice rang out again, “That little follower of yours is freeloading in the shop every day. She doesn’t have much to do anyway. Why don’t you just ask her to do it?”

“Who’s a follower?!” Another voice retorted. It sounded very young and seemed to be lacking in confidence. Then, it asked in a low voice, “Will I get paid?”

“Do you think I’m the manager? If you want a salary, go to him. Otherwise, let the fellow trapped inside pay.’ “Wouldn’t that be extortion?” The man said.

“Really? I think I heard my underlings say that they’re hungry.”

“Alright, alright! I’ll agree to your conditions and let you work at the bar counter in the future,” The man finally compromised. Soon, Celia sensed that someone had touched the spider web outside. The spider web on her body quickly lost its stickiness and turned into dust.

She returned to the world outside the spider web once again.

A young man stood in front of her, holding a large black staff. The top of the staff emitted a soft light that dispelled the darkness around them.

Beside him stood a girl in a purple robe and a golden-haired woman with a smug smile.

She was stunned for a moment, then remembered the content of their conversation. She immediately took out her money bag and handed it over with both hands, saying solemnly, “Thank you. This is the reward for my return. It’s a total of 856 gold. This is all I have. If it’s not enough, I can return to the city to withdraw more money for you.”

Lin Ge took the money bag and waved his hand.

“No need, these are enough.”

“May I know your name? Umm… I’m Celia, a warrior monk who’s adventuring alone. I’m not asking for information, but I just want to your name.”

know To think it was a female warrior monk.

Lin Ge sized up the girl in front of him in surprise. There were still some white spider webs on her body. Although she had muscles, they were not exaggerated, taut, and masculine like men. Instead, they were just right. Her muscle lines were beautiful and smooth, giving off a healthy and lively beauty.

Looking at the other party’s cute and delicate face, as well as her soft and smooth silver hair, Lin Ge would believe her even if she was said to be a young lady from a noble family.

“Lin Ge.”

Celia took note of this name.

“I will remember your kindness.”

Celia glanced at Elise, then left in a hurry. Although she still had many questions in her heart, as a mature adventurer, she knew when to remain silent.

As soon as Celia left, Elise said to Lin Ge, “Isn’t she cute? Look at your eyes that are about to pop out. I just gave you the chance to be a hero and save a cute girl, so you should thank me properly.”

Lin Ge turned his head speechlessly and found that Lanya was staring at him with a strange look as if questioning him, “Is she really that cute?”

He couldn’t help but laugh. He weighed the money bag in his hand and threw it to Lanya.

Lanya caught it in a hurry, and the little emotions in her heart immediately dissipated. She stammered, “For, for me?”

“If you’re willing to help out in the tavern, this can be your salary.”

“Of course!” Lanya said excitedly. She only had to work six hours a day at a place with few customers, and she could even get free food and drink, as well as get a free place to stay while getting more than 800 gold. She couldn’t think of a better job than this. 800 gold was enough to rent a beautiful and capable elven maid for an entire year. In contrast, she knew nothing.

If she could get so much money, she was even willing to work in the bar for ten years. However, she took out a 50 gold coin and returned the money pouch to Lin Ge. “Please keep it for me. I’m afraid I’ll lose it again.”

“Alright,” Lin Ge laughed, “If you need money in the future, just come to me.”

After keeping the money bag in his spatial ring, Lin Ge recalled that the money bag containing more than 1000 gold coins that Lanya had lost a few days ago might be in this spider cave. He said to Elise, “Elise, can you ask your underlings if any of them have seen Lanya’s money pouch?”

Elise, who had regained her right to enter the bar counter, was in a good mood and agreed immediately.

“No problem. I’ll give you the results the day after tomorrow at work.”

Lin Ge suddenly thought of something.

“Oh right, ask your underlings, has anyone recently lost a tooth?” The registration mission from the Adventurer’s Guild required a spider’s tooth as proof. Since Elise was the Lord of this cave, it should not be a problem for her subordinate to offer a tooth. “That’s easy.” Elise was in an extremely good mood and called over a spider. The spider was covered in fur and was half the height of a human. There was a row of small round eyes on its head, and it looked somewhat cute.

In particular, its shiny black chelicerae made people want to touch them.

Crack.

Elise reached out and pulled out the little cutie’s left chelicerae, throwing them to Lin Ge. “Is one enough? if not, I’ll pull the other one out for you.”
