Chapter 12: The Orc Mother and Son Part 1

“Lou Quain! AINー! I told you to come within 10 seconds of calling your name!”

It’s been several days since Lou Quain’s Ritual to Adulthood was completed, but the Lady of Lonneberg continued to scream out Lou Quain’s name.”

It was all too much of a daily routine to do so for her now.

“Madam, Sir Lou Quain is no longer residing here. After the Ritual of Adulthood, that day…..”

And with that, the maid servant looks downwards.

“Sir Lou Quain’s carriage was found toppled over a cliff, and his body has yet to be discovered……..(sob). Excuse me, Madam.”

Hearing the maid servant’s words, the Lady of Lonneberg freezes in place.

“ThーThat’s right. I’ve almost forgotten. ThーThat poor Lou Quain, yes. If he had been riding on the same carriage as us, things would not have gone so poorlyー”

Her forced acting was all too apparent. It was all too obvious.

Saying that Lou Quain’s carriage fell over a cliff ー was a red hot lie.

It was the lie that the Lady of Lonneberg came up with to ensure that everyone else would think that he is dead.

They have already submitted the death papers, and the Lonneberg Family only had Endin as their heir.

And fortunately, the maid that was in the room had only been working there for one month and knew nothing about the event’s developments.

She believed the Lady of Lonneberg’s words and was even weeping tears remembering the news.

“Ohー you can be excused! In your place, call over Jopin immediately!”

The Lady of Lonneberg had no pity for Lou Quain’s situation. In fact, it was her that sold Lou Quain to the Slave Traders.

The maid servant who did not know the details continued to weep for the loss.

It was quite annoying for the Lady of Lonneberg to have to deal with.

“YーYes. You wanted the Head of Staff, correct. IーI will call for him immediately.”

The maid servant flinched at the sudden angry outburst from the Lady and immediately left the room.

After a while, the Head of Staff, Jopin walked in, and with a red face, the Lady of Lonneberg spoke to him.

“Fruits! Bring me a plate of fruits immediately!”

Hearing the word “fruits,” the son, Endin, also came down the hallway and shook the floor as he ran. It was surprising that his foot did not punch through the floorboards.

These two did everything they could to do absolutely nothing, but when it came to food, it was a different story altogether.

Endin: “Mamaー! IーI want some fruits tooー! Where’s my plateー?!”

“Ohー my beloved, cute Endin. JOPIN! What are you doing just standing around like that?! Hurry up and go!”

Jopin: “AーAs you command, My Lady.”

Jopin thought.

Jopin: (How long has it been since Master Lou Quain has been gone……..? Will there be any fruits in the abandoned orchard……?)

As Jopin stepped into the glass greenhouse, he felt relieved.

There were indeed fruits on the trees.

He picked a few that had a great color and placed them in the basket and went to the kitchen.

Endin: “Mr. Jopin…….these aren’t that ripe at allー”

Jopin: “Is that so? I thought they all had a nice color.”

Endin: “Well, they look….normal? Maybe? The ones Lou Quain brought were all incredibly ripe and were perfect for eating! Those were the ones he brought.”

Jopin: (Did Master Lou Quain have an eye for picking ripe fruits?)

Jopin tilted his head to wonder, and Jopin took the fruits as he was commanded to cut them and arrange.

When he was done, he brought the plate to the Lady of Lonneberg’s room.

Before he knocked, he felt a bead of cold sweat travel down his back.

He could hear the earthquake caused in perfect unison by the two from the room.

He felt the ground shake as the two stomped around.

Jopin: (How much do these two plan to fatten up? Are they trying to truly become Orcs?)

With concern on his mind, Jopin knocked on the door.

The next day.,,,

Jopin gathered his things from the Marquis’ house as he was relieved of his services and left the mansion.
