Chapter 610 Kalzer's Desire.

''Protestors... at this day, and age.'' Amour laughed as they left that specific street. There had already been rumors floating about them being there, and Kalzer's fan boys, and girls were more than eager to rush there.

''Hmm, I didn't expect them to react this way.'' Isaac said with slight surprise. However, he didn't regret defeating Hades. Underlord was next, and his fate would be much worse.

''They are the minority.'' Kalzer said, ''There are always brain dead fools like him. There is nothing you can do about that. Even when I had my first interview, I got hate from that minority for not revealing my face.''

''We shouldn't care about them.'' Xerxus said as he suddenly ran to the nearby roadside stall. He left a pile of white coins behind as he held four hotdogs in his hands, ''There.''

They took the hotdogs, and took tiny bites. As soon as the flavors reached their throats, they exclaimed, with pleasantly surprised expressions.

''Anyway, I heard the tournament would continue the day after tomorrow.'' Kalzer said while munching on the hotdog, ''But, I guess it doesn't matter. Isaac is going to win this.''

Xerxus, and Amour rolled their eyes, but didn't argue against it. They didn't expect to have any chances to win.

''I am not too sure about that...'' Isaac said, ''I have a handicap. I can't use my weapons.''

''Oh.'' Kalzer's right brow arched, and he sighed, ''I don't know, but that makes me angry. It makes us feel weak.''

''Even against Underlord?'' Amour clicked his tongue, ''I don't underestimate you, but Underlord is the only one who might have a chance of winning against you.''

''Ah, I can use weapons against him.'' Isaac said after finishing the hotdog, ''Even Gods agree that Underlord is dangerously strong.''

Kalzer pulled out his black-shafted spear, and looked at his reflection in the blade. He hadn't felt this weak in a long time. He, who was hailed as the strongest player, couldn't believe that he could win against another player.

He felt embarrassed at his own weakness, 'Is there... really no way to win?'

His feet slowly halted, and he stopped walking.

''Kalzer?'' Amour turned around, and saw Kalzer deep in his thoughts, ''Everything alright?''

Isaac, and Xerxus turned to Xerxus. They saw him raise his head, showing a weak smile.

''I am sorry, but I forgot that I have a meeting scheduled with a certain someone.'' Kalzer tugged the spear into the inventory, turned around, and walked away into the distance.

''Is he alright?'' Isaac asked.

''Not sure...'' Amour frowned, ''I haven't seen Kalzer like this, in a long time. But... I have a feeling that once he returns, he will be stronger than ever before...''

...

As the night went by, behind the wall, in the Gods, and Goddesses quarters, they had their own festival. It was mostly mingling with other fellow Deities.

Then, at Odin's table, a servant walked next to the Supreme God, and whispered.

''Alright, take him to my office.'' Odin stood up after he spoke to the servant.

''Father, where are you going?'' Loki asked while stuffing plates of food into his mouth.

''To meet a certain someone.'' Odin returned to the grand palace, went straight to the fourth floor, then entered his office. After he sat behind his desk, the door opened, revealing the servant, and Kalzer.

''You may go.'' Odin said to the servant. After the door closed, only he, and Kalzer were left, ''What do you want, Kalzer?''

Kalzer pulled the chair from underneath the desk, and clasped his hands. As silence fell on the room, he turned to Odin, and asked, ''Is there a way to grow stronger?''

''There are many ways to grow stronger. You have to be more specific.''

''To grow as strong as Isaac, in one day.''

''Isaac...?'' Odin frowned. He hadn't heard a name like that before.

''Ah.'' Kalzer scratched his head, forgetting that only humans knew that name, ''Wraith. Is it possible to grow as strong as him.''

Odin leaned against the chair, ''I see... he managed to grow that strong in less than a day. So, it would make sense that it is possible. However, I don't know, how he grew that strong.''

Kalzer's palms whitened as his grip tightened, ''So, it's impossible?''

''I didn't say that.'' Odin said, ''However, there is a reason why Gods, and Goddesses doesn't help their legacy carriers like this. It is possible... that after we are done with it, your personality might be completely erased.''

Kalzer's eyes widened in shock.

''I think, Simo, helped Wraith grow stronger, and he most likely used that method. Did he seem different than before?''

''No, he is the same.''

''That means, his personality didn't get wiped out, which is the best result you could ask for.'' Odin said, then sighed, ''However, if you fail to complete the task, with 100% accuracy, your personality will be erased, and you, Kalzer, will be dead, and be my doppelgänger.

''That's not what we wish. If you become my doppelgänger, your growth will slow down drastically. That's not what I want. You are one of the brightest hopes humanity has. Please think long term.''

''Who is going to attack us?'' Kalzer's words caused Odin to jolt backward in shock, ''You, have talked a lot about hope, danger, and the future. I am not a fool, nor is Isaac, nor the rest. We have all figured out that something evil is looming in the distance. What is it?''

''You are too young to burden yourself with such matters.'' Odin turned to gaze out of the window, ''Please, return to the arena, and drop such foolish thoughts.''

Kalzer's frown deepened. He pulled out the gungnir, and stabbed it through the floorboard, ''Then, this spear is yours. If you have so less faith in me, take the spear back, and find someone else.''

''Kalzer...'' Odin gritted his teeth, and massaged his temples, ''This is... really not a good idea. Is winning the tournament more important than survival?''

''Yes.'' Kalzer grabbed the handle tightly, and revealed his powerful-looking eyes, ''I am not afraid of risks. Isaac told me something, that changed my life, and it molded me to become a different person. Not the person my father wanted, but an ideal me. Thus, I am not afraid of backing off from my desires.''

''So, this is your desire?'' Odin frowned.

''Yes, and... if Isaac could survive the ordeal, then I should too! I won't lose to him that easily!''

Odin sighed, 'Thor... Loki... now Kalzer, everyone so stubborn...'

''Fine then, don't regret it. After 24 hours, you might be reborn as monster of power or weak doppelgänger. Don't disappoint me.''
