Chapter 36 – Himeka’s Tears of Frustration

The three of us went to a vending machine, bought a pack of juice and sat down on a bench, and Sakita-senpai started talking.

“Thank you for coming to help us, Moriyama-kun. It really helps.”

“No, Urushibara-san-san invited me with the utmost courtesy, so I will do my best to be of service to you.”

“Ufufu, you two are really good friends, huh? But I didn’t expect Himeka-chan to bring a boy. Maybe that’s why everyone else was so upset, and it made things a bit strange. Anyway, I’ve never seen Himeka-chan angry before.”

“Moriyama-kun is…an important friend of mine. This time I asked him to help me, and I really thought we could enjoy working together in the student council. But I didn’t think that that would result in Moriyama-kun being insulted… I’m really, really sorry, and I feel ashamed of myself… Huuu…”

EHHH!?!?!?

Urushibara-san has started to cry!

What do I do?

“Aaahhh! Urushibara-san! I don’t feel insulted! Please don’t feel responsible for this! Please don’t cry!”

I didn’t know what to do, so I was holding a packet of juice and panicking, and when the juice spurted out of the straw, I panicked even more.

“A-Ah, that’s right! Handkerchief! Urushibara-san! Here, take this! It looks a little used, but I didn’t wipe my nose or drool on it! Here you go!”

“Huu… Moriyama-kun, I knew it, youw sho kind~”

Sakita-senpai held the crying Urushibara-san by the shoulders, and while quieting her down, she looked at me who was panicking and giggled.

“Vice President! This is no time to be laughing! Urushibara-san, the real saint of this world, is crying! This must be a harbinger of a natural disaster! We must contact the Meteorological Office now!”

Then Sakita-senpai couldn’t hold back and erupted.

“The Meteorological Office! Kekeke…”

Urushibara-san had already stopped crying and was looking at me in a panic with a stunned expression.

I kneeled down in front of Urushibara-san on the bench and spoke to her.

“U-Urushibara-san, have you calmed down yet? Are you getting sick? Should we go to the hospital? Should I call your mother? Or should I call an ambulance?”

“Seriously, Moriyama-kun, you’re exaggerating.”

“B-‘Because, you know, for a loner like me, it’s just too hard for me to deal with a woman crying!”

“…Then give me a hug,” She glanced at me.

“Ugh, then at the usual park later.”

“No! Here and now!”

“Ehhh…”

Sakita-senpai is staring at Urushibara-san’s face with a surprised expression.

Hah…

She’s angry and she cried because of me…

“Alright.”

After saying this, I sat back down next to Urushibara-san and turned her body towards me and hugged her with both hands…

“Fuwa♡ It’s Moriyama-kun’s smell♡”

Sakita-senpai was even more surprised and froze with her mouth gaping open.

I explained in a hugging position.

“Sakita-senpai, hugging is something that we do every day, so you shouldn’t be too surprised. However, it may be the first time we’ve done it in front of people other than family. Also, please keep this a secret to yourself.”

“Y-Yeah, right. If word got out about this (Himeka-chan being comforted by being hugged by a boy), the whole school would be in an uproar.”

“That said, we’re in a school! It’s an act of suicide in real-time!”

I shouted and pulled myself away from Urushibara-san.

Urushibara-san-san was in a good mood as if it was a lie that she had been angry or crying earlier.

“I see, you two are lovers. That explains why Himeka-chan would be angry if someone made fun of her boyfriend.”

“L-Lovers! Ehehe♡”

“Eh? What are you talking about? There’s no way I’m Urushibara-san’s lover. Urushibara-san is a saint, she doesn’t discriminate against a mobster like me and treats me as a friend.”

“Eh? Moriyama-kun, is that really true?”

“Isn’t it obvious?”

“…Hey Himeka-chan, come here for a minute.”

Sakita-senpai then took Urushibara-san to a corner and began to whisper something to her.

“Oh I see, I understand, so that’s how it is, yes, yes.”

It appears that Sakita-senpai has been convinced.

When they returned to the bench, Sakita-senpai, she…

“Good luck to both of you! I’m rooting for you both!”

“Hah~ I’m going to learn my job quickly, and I’m going to work hard to help the student council as much as I can.”

“No, that’s not… Well, whatever.”

On the first day, the work continued until after 6:00 p.m., and thus ended the turbulent debut of the student council.

It was already dark by the time it was time to go home. Urushibara-san asked for my hand again, so I held her hand and took her to her house.

Urushibara-san, who is always so dignified at school, had a lot of emotional ups and downs at school today, just like when we are alone, and she suddenly started to be sweet to me and I couldn’t help but act like when we are alone even though we are in the school.

Urushibara called me a pretend loner, but it seems that my life as a loner is really coming to an end.
