Chapter 17 - Wolf's Den

If curse had really worked... Most of the people in this room would have already died.

Ruhan was sitting on a well decorated sofa specifically reserved for the bride and groom, with a smile plastered on his face.

But with one look, everyone would be able to tell that it was a fake one.

Lisa also sat beside him. But her smile looked warmer and less artificial. But her heart was annoyed too.

She had always wanted a simple wedding.

Her dream wedding is: She will follow her usual routine, the groom and his family will come to their house, they will perform their ritual and get married. After wedding the groom and she will mind their own business.

Actual Wedding ritual is really very simple. It takes only 5minutes. ONLY 5 MINUTES!

The rest of the time could be utilised by lazing in her home.

But here she was, wrapped up in this suffocating wedding dress, with make up plastered on her face. She could neither smile nor eat anything properly. She was STARVING! what's worse, her jeweleries probably weigh 2-3kg.

Lisa was 100% sure that her height would decrease 2-3inches after today.

In comparison, Ruhan's condition seemed to be much more comfortable.

At least he could eat whatever he wanted. It was HER wedding, the foods were prepared for HER! And she couldn't even enjoy them!

Lisa was really depressed. 'I hate discrimination ' she screamed inwardly.

She couldn't help but glare at Ruhan, eyes filled with resentment!

Flash! Lisa was almost blinded by a bright light. Lisa turned to the source with annoyance plastered over her face.

"Owwwwww...look how sweetly they are looking at each other!!! Everyone could tell that they are deeply in love", an annoying sound almost made her deaf.

" Aunty, I am so happy that you could attend this wedding ", Ruhan squeezed out a smile.

Lisa was speechless. 'In love? Really? Could you be even more blind?'

She was too annoyed to fake a smile. But Ruhan poked her.

"Behave", Ruhan warned, "She must not find any fault with you."

Lisa frowned. Is she really that important?

When she decided to go forward with her plan, she had investigated his close relatives to know who she was going to deal with.

This aunt wasn't in that investigation.

But she followed his instruction anyway and gave her a shy smile, "Assalamu Alaikum aunty."

"Really a beautiful girl. No wonder Ruhan decided to marry you." the aunt widened her smile,

"Truth be told, we elders had planned to pair him with my daughter. But Ruhan always slipped away whenever we would bring this topic. I always thought why wouldn't he like my talented and well behaved daughter. Now understand. Ruhan has always been fond of beautiful things. Hasn't he?"

the aunt touched her cheek.

Her statement cleared Lisa's confusion.

Isn't the aunty indirectly implying that she is nothing but pretty face and her daughter is more talented than her?

Lisa scolded her inwardly, 'this damn aunt is really passive aggressive. Dear aunty, don't you know about the good(?) deeds Ruhan committed? You should really thank me that your daughter is saved'.

She also scolded Ruhan, 'It's all his fault. Why didn't he clearly say that he didn't want to marry her daughter? Stupid boy!' She looked at him with disdain.

She couldn't help but pity herself.

As if it wasn't enough that she was marrying a black sheep like Ruhan, they had to doll her up in this suffocating outfit to meet people she neither knew nor cared about, with a smile on herr face that was as fake as her make up.

What's worse...she couldn't even eat!!

And all for what? To be criticised by unrelated people?

'It is not my fault that Ruhan didn't like your daughter.. Ok?

Trust me...your daughter is quite lucky.', Lisa scolded her inwardly.

Ruhan was also annoyed with this distant aunt of his, but when he saw Lisa secretly gritting her teeth and trying to suppress her anger...he became amused.

'Looks like I should invite this annoying aunt to our home more', he smiled inwardly.

Lisa noticed his annoying smie and glared at him again. Ruhan chuckled.

Both of them didn't know that the scene was already photographed by cameramen and they plan on using it on their cinematography.

---

After tolerating for 2hours...Lisa was seriously considering to fake illness and leave the ceremony.

At this time..fortunately her in laws grew some conscience and prepared to take Lisa to Ahmed's residence. Lisa sincerely prayed for them...such considerate people should really be blessed.

What she doesn't know..is that they were in a hurry not because they were being considerate. But because they had to perform other rituals too to receive the bride.

When Lisa will learn about it later on, she will become so angry that she will be cursing their entire family!!

However, her happiness didn't last long. When it was time for her farewell, she came to realize that she was really married now. Really married!!!! Ahmed's residence was her home now..but she doesn't consider them as family. Neither she could wholeheartedly accept Ruhan as her husband .

An unknown sense of grief and fear invaded her soul and her heart constricted. Tear automatically began to flow..she hugged her mother and started to cry loudly, without caring for her surroundings. Her father and brother were crying too, as if they had lost part of their souls.

It took a lot of time and persuasion for Lisa to leave her family and proceed towards the car.

Ruhan was really surprised to see her crying like this.

He had seen many weddings..most of the brides only shed one or two drops of tears at most...do not dare to cry more than that in fear that their make up will get spoilt.

And here she is...crying as if she is attending a funeral.

Of course at this time Ruhan didn't think she was crying for real. In his eyes..she was too tough to do that.

Lisa saw impatience in their eyes and knew that she couldn't delay anymore. She began to walk towards the car slowly, holding her parents tightly. Each step was heavier than the previous one.

A normal bride enters into her husband's house with her heart filled with hope...hope that her new family would be as loving as than her parents.

But Lisa's heart was filled with despair. She knew that the new house wasn't her home, rather a wolf's den..where any carelessness might end up in serious consequences.

Lisa took a deep breath. She can not be weak now. This is the path she chose. Anything that happens from now on, She can not blame it anyone. It is her choice and she has to and she will bear all the consequences...
