Chapter 383 - Hospital

Hospital!?

Xiu Mei blinked in surprise, turning to Feng Jianyu with a big question mark printed on her face.

Now what? She was barely scared, had a nightmare and this worrywart brought her to the hospital? Seriously?

And what's with this disheveled look, blood-shot eyes and wrinkled suit? It's not that she was in a life and death situation.

"You're awake?" Xiu Mei saw Lu Xion enter the room, followed by Wang Shi and an entire army of doctors.

Why does it feel like these doctors came for her?

"J-Jianyu…. What's happening?" her timid voice came as she hugged him tightly. She cocked her head to look at him and the later kissed her forehead, coaxing her in a soft voice, "Be good! Let the doctors examine you. It will be quick."

She shuffled in her position and tried to move out of bed, but he held her firmly. She frowned looking at contraception attached to her body…

WTF?

Why the hell these things are attached to her? The last time when she saw something like this attached to her body was when she woke up in Zeng Research center after she was found in an almost dead state.

"What's all this? Get it off of me. I just had a nightmare and slept for a few extra hours. How dare you attach these things to my body? Am I lab rat for you?" she looked accusingly at Dr. Wang Shi and then directed her gaze at Feng Jianyu, "How can you even allow him?" She shifted her attention to Lu Xion, "You too."

With a raise of palm, Feng Jianyu stopped everybody to come near her. He hugged her tight, her ear pressed on his chest where she could hear his frantic heartbeat. "Not a few hours, it's been three days."

"…."

Xiu Mei was not in her senses when Feng Jianyu reached for her, her body convulsed in his arms violently before she slumped like a lifeless doll.

For the past three days, she was completely unconsciousness, and yet her body was never at ease. For some reason her brain kept on playing the incident of the resort in a loop, resulting in nightmares and restless sleep.

Seeing her squirm on bed, breaking in a cold sweat, holding her in his arms to stop her from moving, Feng Jianyu's condition was no better.

Xiu Mei didn't object, staying still in Feng Jianyu's arms she let the doctors examine her. If this makes him feel at rest she's more than willing.

After a complete check-up, he looked at Wang Shi and the senior neurosurgeon who had not slept for a single second in the past three days.

All thanks to two men, a monster and a devil. One threatened him to have his license canceled and send him to a mental asylum for brain treatment while the other scared the shit out of him when his equally scary assistant showed him a video recording of someone being tortured at an undisclosed location.

Poor doctor, he read numerous journals, books and went through case studies to understand her case.

"Is she fine now?"

"Why this happened?"

"Is this due to her past medical history?"

"Are there any chances of relapse?"

….

….

…

One after the other Xion and Jianyu kept on asking questions without letting the doctor speak up.

Xiu Mei "….."

Neurosurgeon "…."

Wang Shi "…."

Neurosurgeon sneered internally, 'Before asking any question can you please take a closer look on the woman's face, her color has returned. It's only three days and not three months or years, moreover, she was constantly being taken care of.'

The doctor didn't dare to voice out his internal monologue and adjusted his spectacles before speaking in a respectful tone, "President XM is absolutely fine, her vitals are stable and normal. I read her case history as given by President Lu. Due to her past trauma and severe brain injury, some of the fragments of her memory are blurred or either erased forever. According to my analysis, this episode is connected to that, maybe she stumbled into a piece of memory and suffered a stroke."

"This means I've to keep her away from those memories." Feng Jianyu stated in a serious tone and the senior doctor shook his head.

"No, don't force anything. Neither President XM is allowed to strain herself to remember the suppressed memories nor CEO Feng is allowed to restrain her. Just let her be." The doctor explained in a relaxed tone and Feng Jianyu took note of everything with a serious expression and frown that never left his face.

"Happy now? Worrywart !" Xiu Mei looked up at Feng Jianyu and snuggled close to his chest to let him calm down, she knows how scared he must be.

He didn't speak anything but just hold her in his embrace tightly.

Lu Xion heard doctor's instructions clearly but was unfazed by it as when she was discharged from the Zeng Research center the doctor said something similar to Zeng Shihong. That's the reason they never restrained her and only kept a close watch.

Lu Xion's gaze collided with Feng Jianyu and they seemed to communicate something and they both decided to not disclose anything that happened while she was unconscious.

Getting the clue, everyone left the room leaving only Lu Xion and Wang Shi. Suddenly Xiu Mei thought of something, "X…."

"Yes, he's upset about the news circulating in the media. But don't worry everything is under control." Before Xiu Mei could ask about her grandfather Lu Xion spoke. "And he doesn't know anything about this incident but I'm not sure for how long I can hide it. He called you the day before yesterday and….."

"And??" her brows perked up.

"Orange talked to him in your voice according to Jianyu's instructions. But I think he's suspicious now, from yesterday he's insisting to meet you in person. If you are feeling better video call him and later come to the Zeng house." saying Xion passed his phone and Xiu Mei shook her head.

"I'm not talking to him."
