[Tasker’s identity: Wen Long]

[Abyssal Demon]

The voice of the system ceased without a warning once it revealed the tasker’s identity. The system was probably surprised that something unexpected happened. Yet Wen Long, the girl who got transported to the mission world out of the blue, ignored it.

Instead, she turned to look at a mirror. Her eyes raked over her reflection from top to bottom.

The girl in the mirror had dark hair. Her curls were carefully placed, showing quite a contrast with her snowy white skin. And her clothes were even more startling; the dress was tied with various ribbons and accessories. They were a bit complicated, but the details were intricate, and must have cost a fortune.

‘Hmm… It seems that the original owner is from a wealthy family..’

Only after a long while did Wen Long decide to respond to the system’s silence, “Is there something wrong?”

[Are you an abyss demon?]

Yes! She was an abyss demon, which was an almost extinct race.

But Wen Long did find the question strange. “Mr. System, didn’t you confirm my identity before choosing me as a candidate?”

[Umm…. from the evaluation’s results, you were the one that showed the highest success rates. But with the lack of time, I couldn’t cross-check your identity.]

Wen Long didn’t mind if she was replaced, so she said, “Then you can reevaluate and send me back.”

The system was silent for a moment, as if thinking about it but it finally concluded that it wasn’t necessary.

[No need to.]

In reality, it had no reserved energy left to do that.

At that, Wen Long did raise her eyebrows, but she wasn’t too surprised.

The system reverted back to its monotonous tone, and read out the mission’s details and objectives.

[Tasker Wen Long, your mission subject’s name is Yan Li. He’s currently 17 years old. Due to his mother’s early death, and later his drunk father’s years of beatings, his childhood was not good.]

[He never received a penny from his alcoholic father. In order to study and earn living expenses, he had to work part time.]

[And your sister Wen Ruan, who is the female lead of this world, is Yan Li’s classmate. Out of kindness, she found him a job in the Wen family.]

Then came a click sound.

Hearing a soft knock, Wen Long turned to the door.

According to the original owner’s memory, it should be the time when the female lead would be bringing Yan Li back to the Wen House.

It was exactly as she thought it would be.

The first person that came through was a lively girl. Her eyes shone through, clear and pure, making her seem as delicate and innocent as a deer playing in a forest.

But when her eyes found that the person who was standing in the room was Wen Long, they lost the vibrant dazzle, and became hooded with a shadow, while her face became slack. She whispered to acknowledge Wen Long’s presence, “Sister.”

[Please respond accordingly to the original owner’s character.]

“Umm,” Wen Long raised her chin slightly, and casually let out a sound to reply.

The two were only a year apart in age, but it seemed as if a boss was talking to his subordinate.

Wen Long’s tone was cold and casual.

The original owner of this body, Wen Long, was arrogant and domineering. Her results in school were always worse than Wen Ruan’s which led her to develop jealousy toward her sister from the time they were children.

When she saw Yan Li who was brought by her sister, she tried to make life difficult for him. There was a time she even framed him for stealing things from the Wen House.

Wen Ruan was most likely afraid of her. She told Yan Li who was still standing outside to step inside quickly, lest he made her sister wait.

A boy in his school uniform approached.

He was tall, but extremely thin as if a small breeze was enough to wither him to pieces.

And the uniform he was wearing, looked like it wasn’t originally his own. Clearly, it was old. Having been worn out, it lost its color and became dull. The frayed fabric could be faintly seen at the cuffs.

He didn’t dare to intrude, so he lowered his head to gaze at the floor, revealing his protruding collarbones and thin neck. Perhaps with a single pinch, anyone could break it.

He appeared to be a shy and introverted student, easily gaining people’s sympathy.

She had to play Wen Long’s role, so she resumed making herself look contemptuous and arrogant.

“Who is this? Wen Ruan, will you be bringing all the homeless people to our home?”

“I…” Wen Ruan’s face went red, but she explained the matter, “He is my classmate. He can help with some of our house chores.”

“Ah… a new servant.”

The words that came out were merciless, but the boy did not react. His head was still bowed and his gaze lowered, as if he was already used to that sort of treatment.
