Chapter 67 Preparing To Leave (3)

Name:Vampire Nightlife Author:Foncee_Cehl
There were a lot of things that Lukas didn't pay attention to before because he believed he was simply in a game world.

A lot of things could be written off to it all being made be the developers, but now he wasn't so sure.

Lukas didn't even know why he was thinking about it, except for the fact that he was probably a lot worried about what might happen. Hence why he was starting to see the questionable things about the world and even the person who vanished because of him.

Where did the original Lukas the Vampire go, perhaps?

"Lukas, is something the matter?" Serena asked when she had noticed his slightly dazed expression.

He coughed and awkwardly asked. "… will we be having a supply of blood as well?"

Serena raised a brow. It was a strange question in her opinion to ask, but she nodded her head slowly.

"Yes, there is three months supply of blood there… good for three people, but it seems like there are two more who are coming so maybe—"

"This is enough, Miss Weisse." Theodore interrupted politely. "You do not have to accommodate to us too much. We are not going on a little trip of fun, but of a valuable mission. There should be room for hunting and the like."

Lukas raised a brow. He had a gut feeling that all of the blood came from the captured humans but now Theodore seemed to say that they were going to hunt and then consume the blood of creatures that weren't human.

"Is that sanitary?" Katarina asked as she went down the car and stood politely at Serena's side. "There's a lot of creatures with say poison in their system. Wouldn't that make it dangerous? Or will you be letting the Vardokens drink it?"

Alexei grunted in response, while Stacy narrowed her eyes in response.

"You don't have to worry, as long as it comes fresh from the beasts, there usually is no concern—but if we can save the queries of how to survive outside of Lux when we come back, Miss." Theodore politely said.

"I thought you were mostly an Assassin though," Lukas said. He had imagined him mostly dealing with human threats and yet Theodore seemed knowledgeable about other things.

Theodore frowned. "You are mistaken in your perception. We also deal with non-human entities as well… however, let us get going."

"I wish you the best on your journey." Serena Weisse wished them well alongside Katarina, the other woman looking more at Lukas and Chaerin than the Vardokens.

It was the kind of hostility that Lukas couldn't understand, and yet it was something that both Stacy and Alexei were used to.

Soon enough, they boarded the vehicle. Theodore took the driver's seat whereas the four of them chose to stay at the back with the rest of the supplies.

Before they could ask anything, or for Serena to approach Lukas and bid him a personal goodbye, Theodore immediately drove away at a speed that nearly made everyone fall off their seats.

Lukas couldn't believe it.

At first, as he looked out the window, all he could see was the eternal pitch darkness of the night sky in Lux—and then the next thing he knew, they had stepped out into the light and arrived in a deserted wasteland.

It was almost something like an apocalypse, and it was hard to imagine that there had once been Vampire villages in the past. There were no signs of any structures—

"Lukas, pull down the blinders please." Chaerin who sat right next to him seemed to balk away from the window and stuck closer to the darkness of the vehicle. Even with their cloaks and garments, the presence of the sun was enough to make her uncomfortable.

It made Lukas realize that on the other side of the van, Stacy and Alexei were covered in darkness. And yet somehow, Lukas had a feeing that the two were less uncomfortable by the sun more than anything.

Perhaps it was related to their bloodline?

There was a silence that enveloped the entire van, and for a moment, it almost seemed like nobody would talk for the duration of the whole trip that Lukas coughed and tried to break the ice.

"I… I didn't think that you would come along." He said, looking at Alexei. "Any particular—"

"For my sister." Alexei grunted and eyed him sharply.

Somehow, it felt a lot more scrutinizing than before. Their first encounter was Alexei looking at him as if he didn't matter or was a complete stranger, but now, there was a sense of underlying judgment.

"And who's she?" Alexei jerked a thumb in Chaerin's direction.

"Well, I'm—"

"I've said it earlier. She's the daughter of the Atticus couple." Theodore said from the driver's seat. "I do not think that all of us came together here for a little chitchat and get to know each other event, are we?"

Lukas realized that Theodore's mood just seemed to dip even further. It was almost hard to imagine that this was the same guy who smiled warmly at him before and helped him into Blood Works in the past.

The fact that a person could change so much because of their family being put in danger was scary, but Lukas knew that they would never get anywhere if there was hostility with everyone.

"Theodore, it's also vital for all of us to know each other."

"And why is that?"

"How are we all supposed to work and coordinate with each other if we do not know how to tolerate one another or much less even know each other's names." Lukas said. "I know that you're used to working alone, but we'll only be able to help Lily if we all learn how to trust each other."

Theodore stayed silent for a couple of seconds.

He didn't seem to upset or contradicted Lukas' words, that Lukas couldn't help but try again. "It would also help us if you told us what to expect on this journey."
