Chapter 132.2

Wen Chi was taken aback for a moment, he didn’t expect this person to recognize him in the darkness.

But this was just right, so that these people wouldn’t have to restrain him anymore.

Wen Chi avoided the person’s words and instead asked, “Where’s Shi Ye?”

That person is like a repeating machine: “Young master, follow me first.”

“I asked you where Shi Ye is?”

“Young Master, you’ll know when you come with me.” The person behind him was extremely patient and he never moved his hand on Wen Chi’s shoulder. His voice was as deep as Shi Ye’s but far less pleasant than Shi Ye’s.

Shi Ye’s voice was deep and hoarse, he was born that way, but the people behind Wen Chi deliberately maintained this tone, as if to cover up their original voice.

Wen Chi glanced down at the hand on his shoulder, pondered for a moment, then nodded: “I’ll go with you.”

The man retracted his hand after a while and gestured to Wen Chi: “This way please.”

Wen Chi turned around and calmly looked at the man from head to toe. The man lowered his head, most of his face was immersed in the shadow of the helmet and he couldn’t see his face clearly.

Just as Wen Chi paused for a moment, that person urged him again neither humble nor overbearing.

Wen Chi regained his senses and walked towards the direction the man pointed.

The man followed behind him without saying a word.

After Wen Chi walked a short distance, he noticed that the blurred figure cast on the ground was getting closer to him, so he suddenly turned around and hit the man on the chest.

Wen Chi moved quickly and used a lot of strength. The man was not expecting it and staggered back two steps.

The man was horrified and only then realized that he had fallen into Wen Chi’s trap at some point and he quickly took out a dagger that was gleaming in the firelight from his waist, as if to fight back.

However, where would Wen Chi give him a chance to fight back? Stepping forward a few strides, he raised his foot and kicked the man in the abdomen.

The man groaned in pain, couldn’t bear it for a while and knelt down on one knee.

Wen Chi knew that he was no match for that person in martial arts and he didn’t plan to wait any longer. Seeing that person suffer two hits, he wanted to run away, but he didn’t expect that person to be more enduring than he had imagined. He had just taken a step forward, and that person had already risen up from the ground.

The man clenched the dagger in his hand and stabbed straight at Wen Chi.

Wen Chi hurriedly turned back, narrowly avoiding the dagger.

The man seemed to have guessed that the first move would not be successful, so he used a backhand to attack Wen Chi. He didn’t even retract the hand holding the dagger and his body suddenly turned nearly half of the arc in mid-air and then raised the other hand holding an identical dagger.

The dagger stabbed straight at Wen Chi’s chest.

That person didn’t give Wen Chi the slightest leeway. Wen Chi was caught by surprise and was forced to retreat again and again.

Seeing that the dagger was about to catch up with him, he was so anxious that he staggered a bit.

This stagger just gave that person an opportunity.

That person speeded up without hesitation. He seemed to know that his whereabouts had been exposed and he might not be able to leave here alive, so he was determined to drag Wen Chi, as a funeral object1(goods buried with the dead).

Wen Chi heard his heart beating wildly, as if it was about to burst through his chest.  He also wanted to speed up and dodge, but the act of retreating made it more easy to drain his energy.

He watched the dagger getting closer and closer to him and the dagger’s smooth surface reflected the flames not far away.

Seeing this, the man suddenly raised his head, revealing a very familiar face.

The man’s face was turned white by the fire and the hatred in his eyes was so intense that it couldn’t be melted away. His jaw was tense and he almost concentrated all his strength on the dagger.

Within a short distance, Wen Chi heard the man say in a hoarse voice, “Go to hell!”

Immediately afterwards, the man slammed the dagger forward——

Wen Chi knew he couldn’t escape, he was about to block the dagger with his arm, but found that the man’s figure suddenly became rigid and then it seemed as if someone had pressed the pause button—the man stopped still.

Wen Chi was shocked, he reacted and hurriedly retreated a few steps.

When he raised his eyes again, he saw that the person was stupefied and froze for a while before he seemed to feel something and looked down to his chest. He was wearing hard armor and scarlet blood seeped out of it, soon wetting a large area on his chest.

The person felt sharp pain after realizing it, and his dull expression was quickly replaced by a ferocious and twisted expression. The strength in his hand relaxed and the dagger fell to the ground with a thud.

He covered his chest with his hands, and opened his mouth to vomit a large mouthful of blood.

Then he fell to the ground with a thud.

Seven or eight arrows were stuck in his back.

The man couldn’t move but he happened to be facing Wen Chi. He clearly had a face exactly the same as that of the dead Ping An, his eyes were full of unwillingness as he looked at Wen Chi without blinking.

Wen Chi stared blankly at that person’s face for a long while and suddenly his feet went soft and he wanted to sit on the ground but before he could sit down, he was wrapped into a warm embrace by a pair of strong hands.

The sight in front of him was suddenly covered by darkness.

Wen Chi’s face was forced into the man’s arms and the man hugged him too tightly, almost rubbing him into his body, making him unable to breathe. But every time he took a breath, he could smell that familiar scent – it was the scent of Shi Ye’s body.

Wen Chi suddenly felt amused.

He didn’t expect that after not seeing him for so long, Shi Ye’s body still smelled so good.

His hands slowly climbed onto Shi Ye’s back and when Shi Ye gradually relaxed his strength, he muffled in Shi Ye’s arms, “Is that person Ping An?”

After waiting for a long time, Shi Ye hummed.

Wen Chi had a lot of things to say and questions in his heart. He wanted to wait for Shi Ye to let him go before opening his mouth but after waiting for a long time, Shi Ye still held him firmly in his arms.

“…” Now Wen Chi was really suffocated and couldn’t breathe anymore. He slapped Shi Ye’s back hard and said, “Please let go first.”

Shi Ye said okay, hesitated for a moment and finally let go of Wen Chi reluctantly.

Without Shi Ye’s blocking his vision, Wen Chi could see clearly that there were many soldiers around them, including General Lin. Facing Wen Chi and Shi Ye who had been hugging for a long time, they all had a slightly embarrassed expression. His helpless eyes drifted up and down but didn’t dare to fall on Wen Chi and Shi Ye.

For a moment, Wen Chi was also embarrassed.

But soon, he realized a problem—isn’t General Lin as person of Shi Jin? How could he be with Shi Ye?

Wen Chi didn’t express his doubts. He saw General Lin make a gesture and then four soldiers ran over and unceremoniously pulled Ping An from the ground.

Ping An was only hanging on by a breath, and he kept spitting blood from his mouth.

General Lin said: “Take him away.”

The soldiers responded in unison and dragged Ping An away like a dead dog.

General Lin didn’t let the rest of the soldiers idle and quickly ordered some of them to put out the fire not far away, while the rest continued to search in the abandoned house.

Wen Chi vaguely guessed what Shi Ye was looking for in this abandoned house, and just as he was about to speak, he caught a glimpse of General Lin approaching from the corner of his eye, so he shut his mouth embarrassingly and subconsciously leaned behind Shi Ye.

Wen Chi was holding Shi Ye’s clothes, but Shi Ye suddenly reached out to hold his hand and interlocked his fingers.

Shi Ye’s palm was cold and after holding it, he realized that his hand was still trembling.

Wen Chi froze for a moment, looked up and suddenly met a pair of black eyes.

Shi Ye’s face was morbidly pale, but his pupils were extremely black, reflecting the flames and Wen Chi’s face that was close to him. He looked at Wen Chi steadily, without any emotion in his eyes.

Wen Chi had imagined the scene of his reunion with Shi Ye and the dialogue between him and Shi Ye, he had imagined countless possibilities. He thought that he would ask the Emperor about Consort Rong about Shi Jin or about the Hua Family and about Hua Yin and Hua Yan Rong. But at this moment, he heard himself calmly ask, “Do you know that you are going to be a father?”

T/N – Ahhhhh translatornim is screaming excitedly!! (idk what I’m exited about tho, but it’s so sweet when Wen Chi breaks the news about the baby to Shi Ye!!)
