Chapter 112 112: The First Ring V

[Sin Eater Used! +25 to Energy +12 to Perception.]

It was a paltry sum compared to what he had for his energy pool overall, but it was enough to send [Demonic Constitution] into a bit of an overdrive as the skill got to work immediately utilizing the energy that he had just gained. Cole got back up to his feet, the Darkling having turned to dust after Cole had unleashed his ability on it.

He could breathe a bit easier now, And while he was still feeling weak and was still in a lot of pain, a pressure that had been building behind his head had dropped massively, he had not even noticed that it was there in the first place. But with it reduced, he could think a little bit more clearly, at least for the now.

The mana core found it's way into Cole's inventory as he moved forwards, coming up around a bend that split the tunnel in two directions. He closed his eyes and pushed his awareness as hard as he could, but ultimately he still couldn't tell which direction would be best to take in his journey for an exit out of this place. He was hoping it was just a simple underground system.

If it was something like an ant colony or bee hive than he was massively screwed as that would mean wandering around endless tunnels that led to mazes or an elaborate underground labyrinth. It really was not the kind of situation he thought he would be finding himself in so soon after getting to the third floor.

But when in doubt just go right, which was exactly what Cole decided to do. And he only went down that tunnel for a few seconds before it came to an abrupt end in a circular chamber that was closer to a small cavern than a chamber. There was a central island on an underground lake that looked murky but still had flecks of light skimming it's surface. It was enough light for Cole to know that the lake was absolutely filled to the brim with darklings, particularly of the dreaded snake variety. Cole shuddered and turned to back way, only for a massive bear paw to smash into his shoulder and fling him sideways into the chamber.

His body sailed into the air, bouncing off the ground as he lost his grip on his sword. That was more than enough to alert the darklings in the cavern, and it was more than what he had seen in the lake. There were small caves pockmarked all over the cavern, and from their depths chitterlings, Ursalings and a variety of other type of darklings that Cole has not yet had the pleasure of meeting surged out. He growled out in annoyance as he got to work immediately.

The Ursaling that had smashed into him picked up speed and rushed at him, but Divyat was prepared as he rolled forwards under another wild strike and placed a palm on its body before activating [Sin Eater], draining it of all it's energy at an extremely faster pace than his previous ten seconds. He had barely let go of the now dusted Ursaling when a chitterling jumped at him.

[Chaos Blast]

Flew through the air, taking the creature in the face and throwing it back into a group of it's fellow chitterlings before going off. Cole ignored the notifications that gathered at the edge of his vision as he ran back two steps to pick his sword up. He smashed it sideways, it's sheathed form a blunt instrument that slammed into the side of the head of a massive snake darkling that had surged out of the lake.

[Sin Eater]

Saw another mass of energy that immediately when back into healing him completely. Cole knew he would never be able to fully fight at 100% capacity if he was not completely healed, and it looks like [Demonic Constitution] was taking it's damn time to get to that point or location. If was almost as if Cole had really pushed his body and skills last the limits that they could possibly handle.

With how overwhelmed he was about to become, it would be for the best if he utilized [Wrath Drive] but with his extremely paltry energy levels he had to fight with his senses intact for a little while longer, at least his until his energy levels were back up to a respectable level and he was fully healed from whatever damage he had wrought upon himself, just the idea of thinking to use the [Shadow Dance] skill was sending chills and phantom pains shooting across his entire body.

So there was nothing left to do but to fight. He ducked under a flying chitterling, grabbed it by the tail before smashing it down onto the head of a other and punting the next he saw straight into the lake. He drained the one he had grabbed and threw it away before drawing his sword and simultaneously having it change its shape to massive broad sword that swept the area around him, turning most of the darklings to dust.

He picked up speed and began to run around the perimeter of the lake, going around the cabin as the darklings began to chase after him. The lake seemed to be just about a kilometer across, and the small island in the middle had nothing but a fleshy black pillar that held a floating black orb. To him that looked very important so his next course of action would be how to get across the lake and destroy that thing, perhaps it would kill them all.

[Chaos Blast]

Until then though he had discovered quite a good method to dealing with the seemingly endless throngs if darklings that were after him. As they chased he threw his chaos Blast skill behind himself, creating exploding traps that reaped them by the dozen. And just as before automatically their cores were being deposited into his inventory.

Perhaps this place was not the trap he thought it was, perhaps with a little Initiative and wisdom, this was the perfect leveling or exp farming experience, he just had to keep kiting these darklings and lobbing the [Chaos Blast] behind himself. What could possibly go wrong.
