Chapter 78: The Path of a Well-behaved Child

Zhou Mushi could hardly believe that the person in front of him who uttered these words was connected to the one who had ruined Jin Yang’s company and did everything possible to break his relationship with Jin Yang.

“No, no, bro, how could you be gay?” he asked incredulously.

Zhou Muxian chuckled, his lips curling upward, but there was no hint of a smile in his eyes.

“Yeah, how could I be gay? I am the eldest son of the Zhou family, the child my parents are most proud of. I was already introduced to the circle of senior executives and successful people in the business district before I even graduated. So I can’t be gay, I have to get married.”

Zhou Mushi’s mouth hung open, not knowing what to say for a moment.

Zhou Muxian sneered, “You see, even you feel that I can’t be gay. Even if homosexuality becomes legal in our country, others may, but I cannot. When we were young, do you know how much I envied you?”

“But if you really envied me, why did you break up me and Jin Yang?”

“Your circles are different, there will be problems sooner or later. Even now, I do not agree with you being with him. You are people from different worlds, and in the end, there will be no good results.”

Zhou Mushi’s brows furrowed upon hearing this, but he couldn’t help feeling somewhat happy inside.

“What about Chen Sheng? Do you think you and Chen Sheng are people from the same world?” he asked.

Zhou Muxian paused and said, “You don’t understand, little brother.”

“Yeah, maybe I don’t understand you and Chen Sheng, but do you really think you understand me and Jin Yang? Do you know how I spent those five years without him?”

Zhou Muxian remained silent.

“There’s no point in saying more. Since you haven’t wronged my sister-in-law and you both just had a mutually beneficial relationship, then I have nothing more to say. I’ll take you to the airport so you won’t miss your flight.”

In the end, Zhou Muxian didn’t say anything more. Zhou Mushi was right, everyone is just an outsider when looking at others.

Love, this thing, is like drinking water, only the drinker knows if it’s cold or warm. Whether a shoe is comfortable on the foot or not, only the wearer knows.

Chen Sheng was already waiting for him at the airport. He was dressed in a simple white T-shirt, black jeans, white sneakers, a duckbill cap, and a mask, and was pulling a small suitcase. He looked like a celebrity going out for a walk. Some young girls passing by stopped to take pictures.

Summer arrived suddenly and it was hot as soon as it started. After getting off the car, Zhou Muxian couldn’t help but speed up his pace. He didn’t want to walk under the scorching sun. If he did, he would be sweating profusely in no time. He wished he had bought a later flight ticket so that he could fly after the sun had set.

He finally managed to walk to the entrance of the lobby but was stopped by someone right away. “Oh, CEO Zhou?” It was a middle-aged man who stopped Zhou Muxian. Zhou Muxian didn’t know him, but he looked like a business partner of his. Even Zhou Muxian wasn’t sure, but he vaguely remembered seeing this person’s photo in his past records. He tentatively asked, “Are you Mr. Wang from Tiancheng Group?”

The middle-aged man laughed heartily and said, “It’s rare that CEO Zhou still remembers me. I wanted to talk business with you overseas last week, but I heard that you were on a business trip out of town. We missed the chance to meet. It’s a pity! But look, we bumped into each other here. I have to say that your company has truly talented people. CEO Zhou, at such a young age, has exceptional strategies and is a skilled businessman. Those of us from the 70’s generation can’t keep up anymore. The future belongs to you young people.”

“There are always some shortcomings in doing things when you are young. I still need to learn more from Tiancheng Group and General Manager Wang.” Zhou Muxian replied politely.

They indeed had a long-term need to cooperate with Tiancheng Group, so they had to exchange pleasantries with this person here.

Zhou Mushi saw that nothing could be done here for a while, so he signaled to Chen Sheng who was coming over, handed him the luggage, and nodded before leaving.

“Ah, CEO Zhou, you are too polite. We can learn from each other and make progress together. We can’t keep up with the thinking of young people nowadays!”

“CEO Zhou, it’s getting late,” Chen Sheng glanced at his phone and reminded him of the boarding time.

Zhou Muxian had to say apologetically, “I won’t disturb you for now. Let’s talk in detail when you come to my company another day. I will be the host.”

. . . . .

When Zhou Mushi drove back home, he couldn’t quite describe his feelings. Some things were just inexplicable.

Even when things didn’t go his way, he had always lived according to his own temperament and personality since he was young. He did what he wanted to do and went where he wanted to go.

He and his brother were both born to the same parents, but it seemed like his brother had no choice in anything from childhood to adulthood.

It wasn’t that his parents were demanding him to do anything in particular, but they enrolled Zhou Muxian in an economic intensive course since he was young. When it was time for him to go to university, they advised him to major in business management. Before he even graduated, they had already arranged a job for him in the company.

They worked hard to pave a road to success for their son without even asking for his own preferences. To be honest, perhaps because he was the firstborn, they placed more value on him. Although they doted on their second child, they didn’t emphasize much on their education and career. Zhou Mushi’s life plan was not something his parents had given much thought to.

Even later, when Zhou’s father found out that his son was determined to like men, he surprisingly acquiesced, even picking out potential partners for him among the young and talented people he knew.

But if it were Zhou Muxian, there would be no chance at all.

I don’t know if it’s because the crying child gets milk, or because the more obedient you are, the more oppressed you become.

Zhou Mushi checked Tiancheng Group, which he just saw at the airport. It is a company that mainly works on global entertainment projects. It has a wide range of connections, and if he wants to go after someone, he can easily find true or false information and have his marketing team publish it online. The consequences would be severe.

No wonder Zhou Muxian treats him so well. Even without any cooperation, it is easy to offend such a company.

When he arrived downstairs at home, he bought a watermelon and took it upstairs.

He used to dislike watermelon, but maybe it was because he was lazy. When he cut open a watermelon, he could eat it for a long time with a small spoon. He gradually got used to living with watermelon during the summer, gradually tasting the flavor of the juicy fruit.

Later, in the scorching heat, he would lie down on a non-slip building block mat and soft silk mat, turn on the electric fan, and hold half a watermelon. It was an amazing experience.

Zhou Mushi is not used to using air conditioning in the summer, and he has underfloor heating in the winter. He doesn’t like the smell of air conditioning, just like he doesn’t like the smell of cars.

He sat on the sofa, nibbling on the watermelon with a spoon. Suddenly, he thought of something, stood up barefoot, and rummaged through the cabinets for a while before he found a guitar.
