“He doesn’t look like he can bandage himself. Hooligan, go help him.”

Before sparks start flying from the locked gazes, Lin Yi verbally intervenes.

Hooligan stops looking at the bandages and at Lin Yi instead. His look is one of mockery.

Everyone else is also looking at Lin Yi.

The silence against Jiang Yiyi turns into disdainful malice when it is Lin Yi.

“Hey, mister officer, do you not see what we are doing?” Hooligan points provocatively at Lin Yi, “fresh meat should follow behind Doctor like a good pup. Don’t poke your nose where it isn’t wanted.”

Jiang Yiyi scans the two groups of people in a standoff——Or more accurately, Hooligan and his gang, and Lin Yi by himself——a few times, then takes a step back to leave the floor to them.

The patient who has just undergone a makeshift surgery is still lying on the ground, ignored——Unsurprising for someone that was suffering a brutal beating from the gang before Jiang Yiyi’s treatment.

Of course, as a doctor and morally upstanding person, Jiang Yiyi did not hesitate to interrupt Hooligan’s gang when he determines that the victim required surgery. He then started his performance of dissection and treatment on the courtyard with no regards to anyone else——And helps him patch up that bladed wound on the waist in no time.

“I see that you all lack proper respect towards the prison officers.” Lin Yi stands tall and says nonchalantly.

With Jiang Yiyi having made it clear he was not intervening, Hooligan is confident, “what, you think you’re some hotshot?”

Hooligan takes a few steps towards Lin Yi, and then pokes him in the shoulder, “little twerp, don’t think we don’t know.”

“Someone who could only come to the second floor on a piggyback ride…”

Laughter erupts from the crowd.

“Should just go back to the first floor and suck on your mother’s tittl——Argh!”

Lin Yi has ahold of Hooligan’s hand. A clear downwards snap is followed by the crisp sound of dislocated bones. A cold warning is mixed with wheezing from Hooligan, “seems like you all need to learn to respect me.”

“Bro…” The lackeys surrounding them have moved their gazes between Lin Yi and Hooligan a few times——for Lin Yi is still a prison officer, and attacking another prisoner versus an officer is still quite the different thing, even if this is the second floor already.

No one cares if a prisoner is beat up, but the latter scenario might cause unexpected consequences.

“What are you standing around for?!” Hooligan, his intelligence matching his nickname, issues an adrenaline-ridden order from his wrath-addled brain.

“Come fight! Don’t forget who our boss is!”

Jiang Yiyi shakes his head and takes another step back to allow Lin Yi more space to show himself off.

In the background of pained yelps and clashing thumps, Jiang Yiyi glances to the side.

Not far from them are two prison officers, observing the situation apathetically while conversing in whispers between themselves. Noticing Jiang Yiyi’s gaze, they nod in greeting.

Ah. The second floor is truly a far more interesting place than the first floor.

Jiang Yiyi looks back at the carpet of bodies on the ground.

Lin Yi has given the last standing prisoner a clean shoulder throw before patting away non-existent dirt on grime on him, and then walks over to Hooligan.

“The second floor has rather failed in rehabilitating prisoners.” In spite of the physical work he’s just done, Lin Yi’s breathing is quite regular. Clearly, this is not even strenuous exercise for him.

“You all need better education.” Lin Yi grabs Hooligan by the shoulder, and as the man looks on with fearful eyes, he uses his kneecap to kick hard into Hooligan’s waist. Twice. Thrice.

He releases his grip, letting Hooligan crumple to the ground with his hands on his stomach, whimpering.

Lin Yi then pats his kneecaps clean and gets up. He looks at the prison officers nearby.

“I’ll have a chat with them.” He tells Jiang Yiyi, then walks over to them.

Jiang Yiyi, meanwhile, continues examining the potential patients sprawled on the ground, only to discover, regrettably, no patient requires surgery here. Bored, he looks towards Lin Yi, now talking to the prison officers with a cold face instead.

They clearly do not reach any consensus. In fact, given the tense appearances, they appear to be in conflict.

“His movements just now…” Jiang Yiyi appears to be mumbling to himself, or to someone, “look a little familiar, did they?”

Lunatic, standing behind him, turns his gaze slightly towards Lin Yi.

“Let’s go. Courtyard time is almost over, I’ll lead you back.” Lin Yi’s conversation has ended, so he says, next to Jiang Yiyi.

Jiang Yiyi walks outside with him, and asks calmly in the midst of inconspicuous gazes.

“Reached a deal yet?”

“No, but soon.”

“Under threat?”

Lin Yi turns towards Jiang Yiyi, “of course not. Only proposals that strictly follow the rules and regulations.”

Jiang Yiyi does not actually care about the answer, as he finds Lin Yi more fascinating in contrast.

“Butcher does not seem to welcome you. I don’t think your proposals will pass easily?”

“They will.” Lin Yi scans his card to open the cell door, while smiling at Jiang Yiyi, “if he does not want to lose his position.”

Jiang Yiyi walks into the cell, and nonchalantly adds, “those moves you had looked a little familiar…”

Lin Yi pauses as he finishes relocking the door.

Jiang Yiyi then completes his sentence, “but I don’t recall how.”

The door is locked.

“They are simple fighting techniques everyone knows. Makes sense they look familiar.”

“I see.” Jiang Yiyi does not push the question, “do you have Lunatic’s file?”

“He’s got a colourful background…” Lin Yi knocks on the window, “I don’t recommend involving yourself.”

Jiang Yiyi chuckles in response, “are you telling me what to do, again?”

He walks back to the window with the blade in hand reflecting a sharp light. The light is just like him – dangerous. He is close to Lin Yi.

Lin Yi eyes the distance between him and the window, and is satisfied with his safety. He continues, “no. Simply a friendly advice from your collaborator.”

The scalpel pauses.

“The file?”

“Is in the cabinet.”

“Scalpel.” Jiang Yiyi hands it outside.

The blade is facing him; Lin Yi is silent for a few seconds.

The mood is heightened.

Jiang Yiyi appears to be in no hurry as he waits for Lin Yi’s choice.

It is truly staggering how different Jiang Yiyi is with and without the blade.

Without, and he looks quite rational and communicable.

With the blade, he becomes unimaginably dangerous——The indifferent madman would surprise no one whatever he does.

Death? Not exciting enough for him. Blood? That’s always by his side.

Anyone who has seen Jiang Yiyi put his art of dissection in practice knows exactly what they are facing.

Lin Yi’s has frozen up for quite a while.

And he lifts his hand to the window.

The scalpel spins; it brushes past Lin Yi’s skin gently. The cold blade screams danger——But nothing has happened.

The scalpel lands on Lin Yi’s palm without a hitch.

The silent stand-off is over before anyone knew.

“I have become partial to you.” Jiang Yiyi moves his hand back, “continue demonstrating your use to me.”

Lin Yi, with scalpel in hand, looks back at Jiang Yiyi one last time, before turning to go away.

The handle turns moist in his grip.
