Second Floor (2)

He Could Be a Notable Individual

The crowd is looking at him.

The chopstick dancing about his fingers, too.

The deep thumps continue nonstop. Lunatic is too absorbed in his discharge of violence that he does not care what goes on around him.

Blood paints a vivid picture on the floor; a row of bloodied tread prints emerge as Jiang Yiyi approaches.

The chatter die down while the prisoners observe Jiang Yiyi in silence, expecting to see something interesting happen——He being pummelled half to death by Lunatic, or vice versa.

Blood and death only exacerbate things around here.

Jiang Yiyi stops a few steps from the red carnage.

Seeing one-sided beatings often evoke empathy from onlookers to the victim; add time enough, and it turns the empathy into only fear.

Lunatic does not have a twisted expression, only beastly eyes, and behaves like a predator having locked onto prey——There is no rational thought, only instincts.

Clearly, no matter who it is, try to lay a hand on the prey and he will retaliate, attacking that person instead.

Reason enough for everyone to stand far away and look but not stop——This is not Lunatic’s first outburst, and everyone has had their lesson.

Is he… a beast acting only on instincts? Or does he simply suffer from mental state instability?

Jiang Yiyi is trying to judge his danger, his chopstick pausing suddenly between his fingers.

Regardless, he does not have time to think——Dally any longer and that guy’s life is forfeit.

Jiang Yiyi heads forth once more, breaking right into Lunatic’s personal space, past the safe distance.

Lunatic is not stopping as he glances up at Jiang Yiyi with contracted pupils that reflect the man’s calm expression.

Lunatic is warily glaring at Jiang Yiyi.

The atmosphere is frozen.

Two beasts, wary of each other, probing, testing for weaknesses. It can erupt into a life-or-death battle at any moment.

Jiang Yiyi is certain he should be feeling fear now——No matter how you look at it, he should be the one to suffer debilitating injuries here.

With the knowledge that he knows no basic fighting or brawling techniques. While Lunatic obviously has great battle technique.

Also, Jiang Yiyi’s most familiar weapon is missing.

And finally, Lunatic looks dead serious.

Jiang Yiyi is thinking so and can’t help but smile, with a deep dimple close to the corner of his mouth. Even if he is trying his damndest to suppress it, his smile can be described as ‘brilliant.’

The onlookers are dead silent. The circle around Lunatic enlarges, giving them ample space.

After the brief pause in clamouring, the prisoners are enthused once more for the bloody scene to play out.

Butcher has furrowed brows as he gestures to the prison officers nearby.

An officer nods and walks to the side, mumbling something into his radio.

Prison officers outside the door rush in with batons in hand, postures straightened and expressions stern. They surround the entire canteen in rows.

Lin Yi stands out quite a lot in all the commotion.

He looks past the inexplicably enthusiastic prisoners, and watches the two people locked in a stand-off with knitted brows. He is temporarily allies with a common goal with Jiang Yiyi, so he will not be happy to see Jiang Yiyi involved in any unforeseen accidents for now.

Of course, in theory, he does not expect Jiang Yiyi to be involuntarily involved in anything on the second floor.

Yet Lunatic——He knows him by reputation, setting the record for transferring to the second floor from the first floor in the least amount of time.

He does not know pain nor fear, and he will not stop for threat of death.

He’s, as his name suggests, a Lunatic.

In a sense, he cannot be shocked and awed.

This is not good news for Jiang Yiyi.

Lin Yi glances at Butcher, who is knitting his brows right now while watching Jiang Yiyi; he has no intention of having the prison officers stop what is coming.

After a few short seconds, the stand-off is over.

Lunatic has stopped pummelling the poor guy. He stands up, lowers his stance, and rushes at Jiang Yiyi.

That man truly is insane.

Jiang Yiyi shakes his head at the conclusion and takes a step back to create distance.

However, Lunatic reaches him in no time. The fist he throws surges for Jiang Yiyi’s temple head-on.

Jiang Yiyi raises his right hand in front of his chest, and lifts his left hand slightly.

The present mood is at a breaking point. Everyone has a close eye on the two that are about to make contact.

The chopstick on Jiang Yiyi’s right hand emits a slight sound of penetrating flesh, which causes a momentary break in Lunatic’s action; this has bided time for him.

Jiang Yiyi’s left hand has landed on Lunatic’s shoulder faster than his fist can reach him. He pats.

Hm?

The expressions of excitement, expectation and fear all freeze up.

What in the world is he doing?

He’s not fighting Lunatic to disable him as soon as possible, but pats him on the shoulder instead?

Lunatic’s roaring fist stops abruptly before Jiang Yiyi’s temple——A direct hit would lead to coma at the minimum and a possible death.

Jiang Yiyi releases his right hand to avoid the blood dripping from the chopstick.

Everyone’s gaze moves onto the chopstick without fail. Though it’s almost a third of its way inside Lunatic’s chest area by inertia——It is quite some distance from his heart. In fact, this wound can be described as clean. At least, it is not enough to disable Lunatic instantly.

Not to mention he does not even know pain, and will not stop because of it.

Yet, this is reality they are facing.
