“I’ve been discovered.”

Sitting in the chair inside the shop’s laboratory, Milton Cheney fiddled with the three Golden Origin Tokens in his hand and sighed softly inside his heart.

He had moved quickly, but his actions had still been detected, and one person had escaped.

He could not divide his attention to deal with the remaining two.

Ultimately, Leia, Nafin, and Lemley all met their demise at his hands. However, Tobias, the Level 3 Wizard Apprentice, had noticed something strange and managed to escape.

Tobias had warned Leia and Nafin to be cautious after learning about the abnormality of the Golden Origin Tokens.

A Level 2 Wizard Apprentice possessing a Level 3 Wizard’s Level treasure, it didn’t sound right no matter how he thought about it.

Who could be sure if Milton Cheney was really a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice? Who could confirm if there were not some influential figures unknown to him behind Milton?

He wished to send an immediate message to Smith City on the Southern Continent, as there was an Official Wizard from their organization, but Leia and Nafin had refused.

In order to send the message, it would take several months back and forth.

Who could be sure that nothing unexpected would happen in such a lengthy period of time?

They did not want to let the easy prey slip away from their grasp.

Although frustrated, Tobias had agreed nonetheless.

Then Leia and Nafin never came back.

They all had daily meetings. Realizing that something was amiss, Tobias did not hesitate and ran away.

And the place Tobias left Curved Corner City for was Smith City.

“I remember the nearest Level 1 Wizard from the White Tower to here is in Smith City. However, with a Wizard’s speed, it would only take less than two weeks to get here from receiving the message.”

Milton thought in his heart.

His plan had a minor mishap; now it was inevitable for that Level 1 Wizard to get the news.

To confront a Level 1 Wizard head-on was undoubtedly unwise.

“Damn it, why couldn’t I just smoothly kill you all?”

Milton put the three Golden Origin Tokens into his Spatial Key, planning his next move in his heart.

Staying in Curved Corner City was out of the question. It was as good as courting death.

Even if he stayed in the shop, a Level 1 Wizard had too many ways to flush him out.

Against a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice, Milton might be able to lay low in Curved Corner City. Still, he could not hide from an Official Wizard.

Besides, he had already killed three members of the White Tower. It didn’t have many members to begin with.

Right now, it was a life-or-death situation between him and the White Tower.

The main problem was that one managed to escape, which was the most troublesome part.

This meant that he was now exposed, and it was like alerting the enemy.

Currently, to break the current situation and confront the entire White Tower Organization, was undoubtedly extremely difficult, if not impossible.

But it was also not entirely hopeless.

If it were an ordinary person, they might despair in the face of this situation, but Milton had the External Plugin.

He had two years of time to plan. Within two years, the White Tower would not willingly expose Milton’s information.

Milton realized he had fallen into a thinking trap.

He had overcomplicated a simple matter.

Was it crucial to become a Level 2 Wizard within two years?

Of course, it was important.

But it might not be the most important thing.

Becoming a Level 2 Wizard within two years was not the only way out of this situation.

It was just the most straightforward solution.

Beyond this method, as long as he could find another way out within two years, it didn’t need to be perfect, as long as it can ensure his safety in reality.

There would be countless more cycles of two years waiting for him.

Becoming a Level 2 Wizard can certainly help to resolve problems easily.

But the time doesn’t have to be necessarily within two years.

As long as Milton could ensure he would be unharmed in reality.

If two years wasn’t sufficient, wouldn’t ten years be?

Milton collected his scattered thoughts and stood up. His current top priority is to leave Curved Corner City.

Otherwise, if the Level 1 Wizard from the White Tower arrived, stay alive for one year would be a feat, let alone ten years.

Walking out of the room, Milton went to the place in the shop where Magic Disks were sold.

Then he waved at Winona, who was busy working.

Upon seeing Milton calling her, Winona quickly apologized to the person in front of her and hurried to Milton’s side.

“What can I do for you, Shopkeeper? Please tell me if you need anything.” After a few dozen days, they had gotten used to this new shopkeeper.

They respected Milton very much.

“Close the shop earlier today, I need to leave for a bit.”

Milton spoke, and Winona in front of him responded without hesitation:

“Alright, Shopkeeper, I will go and relay the message now. Do you want the shop closed right now?”

“Yes, put up the sign, close the shop after attending to these customers, and come back tomorrow.”

Milton nodded, as a shopkeeper, he had this right.

In one of the White Rose School’s locations in Curved Corner City. “You want to give up this mission?”

The middle-aged woman in front of Milton spoke, passing back Milton’s identity Token at the same time.

“Yes. Let the school arrange for a new student to take over. I have some matters to attend to, so I need to leave Curved Corner City. Therefore, I need to give up this mission for now.”

Milton nodded and answered.

The middle-aged woman shook her head inwardly. She didn’t know what matter could cause Milton to give up such a good mission from the school.

However, it was ultimately unrelated to her.

Although she was also a student of the school, she was only a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice.

The person in front of her was much younger but was already a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice.

Therefore, she naturally wouldn’t say anything.

So she said, “Alright, a new student will take over in about ten days.” “Ten days is too long. I’m in a hurry. Would five days be possible?” After thinking for a moment, the middle- aged woman nodded.

“Then I’ll send your message as soon as possible on my end. I will explain your situation to the school,”

Milton Cheney nodded to indicate he understood.

Surely someone would take the mission as soon as it was reported back to the school.

Actually, ten days was enough time, but Milton wanted it faster just to be safe.

After handling the task matter, Milton left the base.

Day by day passed, and six days had gone by in the blink of an eye.

Milton was in the laboratory of his shop when there was a knock on the wooden door. He used his spiritual power to open the door.

A beautiful young woman followed behind Winona into the room. Just like Milton had done before, the young woman looked around the room and then nodded her head.

She seemed quite satisfied.

After Winona left, the woman turned her gaze to Milton:

“Hello, I’m Victoria Connelly, the person from the school who came to take over this task. This is my identification token.”

Milton nodded and signaled for Victoria to sit down.

He examined the token before handing it back, finding no issues.

“Long story short…”

Milton began explaining some matters about the shop to Victoria.

Victoria didn’t say anything, she just nodded her head from time to time to show she understood.

Once Milton finished speaking, Victoria softly said:

“I understand.”

“Good, then I’ll leave the shop to you. I need to report back to the school.” Milton then bid Victoria farewell and left the shop.

He had already informed the rest of the shop about the change in management over the last few days.

So it would be a bit easier for Victoria to take over.

Watching Milton leave, Victoria looked a bit puzzled.

She felt like Milton was in a hurry, but also very nonchalant. This contradictory feeling was the source of her confusion.

However, she eventually shook it off, after all, this was her first meeting with him.

Whatever might be bothering Milton had nothing to do with her.

After leaving the shop, Milton headed straight for the city gate.

He needed to return to the school first and then take on a new task before he could leave the school again.

Otherwise, he would be considered a ‘traitor’ , which is not something Milton wanted.

He had enough time.

Currently, Tobias probably hadn’t arrived at Smith City yet, so he still had almost a month left.

A few days later, Milton returned to the White Rose School.

Once he was back at the school, Milton decided to visit his mentor, Morton.

Morton spent most of his time in his laboratory in the experimental zone, so Milton found him easily.

Morton, sitting in his laboratory, was surprised when he saw Milton.

“Why did you come back so soon?”

Morton, setting down the thing in his hand, asked with some confusion.

Milton seemed to have left the school just about a month ago. How could he be back so soon.

He remembered the mission was supposed to last two years.

“Mentor, I voluntarily gave up this task. I’ll leave the school after seeing you this time.”

“Why?”

Morton furrowed his brows. His first reaction was that Milton must have offended someone powerful.

It must be said, Morton’s first reaction was spot on.

Milton explained in a nutshell. His words were half true and half false.

“You killed a person from a wizard organization? What’s the big deal.” Morton waved his hand nonchalantly.

What about it? So what if he was a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice.

What surprised him was that Milton managed to kill a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice, not that a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice was killed.

“Mentor, it’s not as simple as you think. I’ve decided to leave the school for now to lay low, otherwise, the White Rose School might be implicated.”

Milton spoke earnestly, not joking at all in his tone.

Hearing this, Morton’s expression turned serious too.

“Implicate the school? Which organization have you ticked off?”

“I’m not sure about that for now, Mentor, but I know that wizard organization is definitely not simple.”

Milton chatted with Morton a bit more.

Just as Milton was about to leave to pick up a new mission, Morton stopped him.

“Wait a moment, take these with you.”

Morton turned over four or five magic disks in his laboratory and handed them over to Milton.

As Milton hesitated, Morton stuffed those magic disks into his arms.

“These are all masterpieces I’ve inscribed over the past few years. You’re getting a deal.”

“Mentor, I…”

Before Milton got a chance to say anything, Morton interrupted him.

His somewhat wrinkled hand patted Milton’s shoulder.

“Don’t overthink it. Even though I don’t know what wizard organization you’ve aggrieved, given your worry, it must be no small deal. I won’t ask any more questions.”

“I have just one request – survive!”

Morton’s gaze was earnest, looking straight into Milton’s eyes as he spoke.

Milton nodded, then leaned over and whispered something into Morton’s ear.

Morton looked surprised when he heard Milton’s words. Then he nodded to show he understood.

After bidding Morton farewell, Milton went to the mission zone, picked up a new mission, and then left the school.

Stepping out of the school gate, Milton looked back one last time.

In over a year’s time, Milton truly felt that the White Rose School was a great place.

Undoubtedly, he was lucky.

But after this departure, he didn’t know when he would be able to return!
