Chapter 118

118 Snuggling

Kyle was silent.

He took the test report and then the conclusion at the side. At this moment, he didn’t know what he was supposed to feel.

“What is it?” Dr. Dall then snatched the test report. He looked at the lines of words in surprise. “As it turned out, their abilities will affect their DNA too?”

“Yes, it’s not that surprising, isn’t it? You’ve already tested a lot of others.”

“Well, I know.” Dr. Dall laughed. “Anyway, your test result is not much different from any other pets that had been tested before. However, the degree of mutation within the DNA is quite large, probably because your cat is a dual awakener.”

“Mhm.”

Kyle looked at Kate and patted her quietly. It was still the common DNA of animals and not that of humans. However, he didn’t know how to explain why this little cat could suddenly become so intelligent.

Could it be affecting the field that he couldn’t see?

That was not impossible.

.....

And Kyle definitely couldn’t check that out because he was not totally sure. He held the little cat in his embrace. Well, no matter what, she’s his little cat and he will be the one to protect her. No matter whether she took other people’s intelligence or how scary she could be with her ability, he will keep her well.

“Meow.”

Kate leaned closer to Kyle, enjoying his warmth. She could see that the test result didn’t tell the fact that she’s actually human being. This made her wonder just what kind of transformation that happened on that first red rain.

A strange mutation?

Or something else that could possibly affect her so much?

Kate didn’t know.

“Well, now that you have finished testing her, do you want to test her more?” Dr. Dall asked. He was actually itching to see if there was anything else that he could figure out from Kate. After all, Kyle would never allow it if it was not because he was curious about something and head here on his own.

“No.” Kyle shook his head.

“What a pity. I actually want to know more.” Dr. Dall sighed.

“There are other pets out there whom you have reached an agreement with. You better continue working with them rather than aiming for my little cat.” Kyle looked at Dr. Dall coldly.

Dr. Dall was speechless. In the end, he simply kicked Kyle out of his laboratory before the brat made more troubles. Of course, before leaving Kyle cleaned up all the traces of the test he had with Kyle and dumped everything into a mix of chemical mixture.

That way, it would destroy anything left from Kate.

Knowing how much Kyle loved his little cat, Dr. Dall let him be and continued to focus on his own research. There was no time for him to care about that annoying young man at all.

...

After that test, Kyle simply brought Kate back home. After they got home, Kyle made a simple dinner for the two of them. Of course, Kate’s main course of meal still consisted of milk.

Kyle watched the little cat drank the milk with unwilling expression and laughed lightly. “Don’t worry, you’ll soon be able to switch to many other foods. As you can see, you’re growing bigger.”

“Meow.”

But Kate still couldn’t stop drinking milk yet because she still needed to grow her body faster. This was what made Kate felt really tired. She didn’t want to drink the milk, but she had to drink because it was what her body needed.

How troublesome.

“We’ll spend the next few days to absorb the crystals first. Do you still have a lot of crystals inside your space?”

Kate nodded. “Meow.”

Kate’s absorption rate was simply very large. It was to the point that Kyle himself was not entirely sure how much Kate’s little body was actually able to take in each time. However, the amount was really something.

Anyway, it was good that his little cat was able to grow stronger.

That was all Kyle ever wanted.

“Go to train.”

“Meow~”

Kate rubbed her head to Kyle’s hand before retreating and jumping to her own bed. After being a cat, Kate herself realized that she had become a cat like person rather than a real ordinary cat or an ordinary human.

This made her conflicted.

But in the end, Kate simply accepted this change that occurred to her because there was nothing that she could do to change it. Even if she wanted to protest, she didn’t know where she should go file her complaint.

It was all simply useless.

The next few days passed by quietly.

Kyle advanced another minor advancement in both fire and lightning, bring the two of them closer to the peak of rank 4. At this moment, he firmly believed that if he were to advance another rank, he would reach rank 5.

However, the consumption of the crystals was equally large.

He had used up a lot of them and even after spending his money to buy these crystals from the market because he had a lot of money, he still ended up using up most of them. Buying these crystals were mainly for Kate because she was just like a bottomless hole.

She kept on absorbing these crystals and with the crystals that Kyle bought, Kate’s space had advanced to rank 5. It had more room for them to put more things, but Kyle had no intention of making her fit so much things again.

Anyway, what was valuable for them was the crystals.

As for the healing ability, Kate advanced two minor ranks.

Her advancement was as simple as drinking water because Kyle had seen Kate sleeping and being lazy most of the time, but she still advanced so quickly.

He estimated that a lot of people would be jealous of this little cat if they know how easy it was for her to advance.

“Kyle, are you still sleeping?”

“What is it, Father?” Kyle walked out of his room and saw his father was holding several documents in his hand.

General Ryan handed the documents. “These are the details of a mission for you to head over to a local research base that’s located underground. There’s also an abandoned mine near this research facility.”

“Why is it abandoned?” Kyle asked.

“There are a lot of giant mutated animals roaming around the area, so the researchers had to move. Some of them even couldn’t escape in time because there are too many giant mutated animals that were roaming around.” General Ryan sighed.

Kyle flipped the papers to read the content. After he was sure that there might be gem there that was related to metal, he nodded.

“Alright, I’ll take this mission and I’ll be bringing Jake and Dylan.”

“Jake’s girlfriend, Lotte, requested to be added to Black Group. She said that she’s a dual ability wind and wood elements. Also, she’s a half who will be able to help you communicate with your little cat.” General Ryan looked at Little Kitty on Kyle’s arm meaningfully.

“I know.” Kyle had heard about Lotte’s appearance in City B because Jake was technically so excited to see her. It was only in this matter that Jake’s mother would let her son be and even encouraged him to spend more time with his girlfriend.

In her words: Get married quickly and give me grandson!

Oh well, in any case, it was good that both Jake and Lotte had good relationship with each other. Their relationship had been going on for several years and Jake had even considered marriage, but didn’t have the courage to bring it up, especially when his work has been quite bad.

But now that they were in this kind of world, Kyle didn’t know how their relationship would be.

“You’re the leader, so this need your approval.”

“I agree.” Kyle arched his eyebrows. “Do I need to separate the two of them?”

“I thought that you never liked going when the two of them are together because they liked to give dog food to singles.” General Ryan smiled knowingly.

Kyle rolled his eyes.

He knew that their dog food spreading was quite intense from time to time, but why should he care about it? If Jake wanted to show off in front of him, he would just burn off the other party’s legs so that he would go away.

“Meow?” <So, are we going to the mission or not?"

“Alright, let’s go and accept the mission.” Kyle patted Kate’s head and then walked out with the documents.

General Ryan watched his son and shook his head lightly. As his son grew up, he instead grew more worried about the other party.

He hoped that there wouldn’t be anything wrong with this mission as there were several other groups who had been sent there.

Only for them to never return.
