Standing barefoot on the soft peach-coloured carpet, I was quickly undressed and measured. I wondered why all the dresses I’ve worn so far had been fitting to my body without measuring. When I asked her about it, she told me that Astaroth and Mercuris had told her it would look roughly like this, so she had just chosen it accordingly.

Iris-san looked a little sulky as she said, “I really wanted to take all the measurements, but nobody brought Liddy-chan along with them.” Although her voice was low, Iris was easy-going and very easy to talk to.

After my measurements were quickly taken and I was dressed, I was asked to sit on the white couch in the measurement room. On the table in front of the couch, as soon as Iris’ wings shone, tea was poured into a white teacup. From the aroma and colour, it was probably black tea.

“Thank you, Iris-san.”

“Have a drink.”

Iris-san sat down next to me on the couch. The skirt, richly adorned with lace, bended softly. Her transparent wings did not seem to get in the way of her sitting on the chaise longue. They touch my body slightly, but I don’t feel their mass. It was a bit strange.

“Hey, Liddy. I don’t know about your situation, but are you really going to marry Gilbert-sama?”

“Yes. I’m looking forward to it.”

“Are you really sure?”

Iris-san asked, looking worried

“I knew Aria well because of my position, but she always had a gloomy look on her face. She was a serious girl with few words, but once she told me something.”

“Master Yule keeps chasing what he can’t have.”

Apparently Aria smiled sadly when she said that to Iris.

“I don’t know the details because I was with Ria-sama when the new King took over. But at the celebration of the replacement of Heinzolde-sama with Lucis-sama, Lucis-sama saw Elvisa-sama up close for the first time. Heinzolde was an impartial person. At first Lucis-sama was also the same, but then he fell in love with Elvisa-sama.”

Aria had long hairy triangular ears similar to Ria’s, and was more of a beautiful woman than cute. Perhaps because she had lived a long time, she was somewhat optimistic, and she was the kind of person who didn’t show her emotions much.

“Elvisa-sama was on good terms with the first King of Evandia. After King Evandia reached the end of his natural life and passed away, she spent her time quietly in the temple, watching over the country. I had spoken to her a few times and she was a kind person. So probably she didn’t like him. One day she got fed up with Lucis-sama’s repeated courtship and took her own life.”

I nodded my head.

I didn’t understand why she would want to take her own life because she was fed up with courtship. She was a goddess, she deserved to be loved. It was not surprising that the people loved her, or that the Evandian royal family loved her, or that Lucis, of course, loved her.

I, who is beautiful like a goddess, no, even more beautiful than a goddess, am guilty of being immensely loved. I think that all love should be accepted, but if that couldn’t be done, then it should just be rejected with a firm attitude. I think it is somewhat too much to kill oneself because nothing could be done if one is not alive.

“Master Lucis must have been saddened. Ria told me that he had become helplessly foolish. Some time later, he found a human girl who was a reincarnation of Lady Elvisa. On her forehead was a sun  engraving, which indicated Lady Elvisa. Lucis, of course, wanted her. But the goddess is important to the royal family of Evandia, and to the kingdom. Of course, she was protected by the royal family and never came to Master Lucis.”

Having grown up without knowing about the existence of goddesses, I don’t really understand how important they are to the kingdom.

She may have mysterious powers like Gilbert and others, or she may be a fertility goddess who brings love and peace, so her mere presence may bring peace to the country. I think that peace in a country is created by better rulers, not by some unknown goddess’ power.

Still, if that’s the way the world is made, we have to accept it.

In fact, I have met Camisile, who said he is the god of creation, and I am living a second life, so I cannot deny that.

If that is the case, it is certainly very important that there is a goddess in the Kingdom of Evandia. I don’t know what the existence of the goddess is like in other countries, but maybe it is kept secret because it is important for her to be there.

“Eventually… Back then, Clive, the King of the vampires, who thought of the human race as food or something, started repeatedly kidnapping girls. Astaroth also started playing with the human race as if they were toys. It’s a terrible story. I didn’t want to see it, I didn’t want to have anything to do with it. The humans hated the demons and in no time there was a great war.”

Aria said that she felt something was contrived.

“Clive was a genuinely terrible man, but Astaroth was loyal to the king. Maybe the reason he did what he did to further deepen the rift between the demon tribe and the human tribe was to start the Great War. Maybe I’m overthinking it, but maybe he wanted to destroy the royal family of Evandia and get the vessel of the goddess for Lucis-sama, or maybe he was angry because the Butterfly tribe, the Spirits and the beautiful but weak ones were being sold or treated like slaves by the human tribe.”

I heard some of that story from Mercuris.

There are cruel people now and in the past. At the same time there are also good people. It’s very difficult, but it’s the duty of those ruling to legislate and enforce the law to prevent that from happening.

I wonder if the Evandia royal family in the past allowed the demon tribe to prey on them. It is often the case that people look down on those who are different in appearance.

There are people who hate the anahoriasdee, which I think is cute, but they hate it because they say it’s creepy. Maybe that’s how it is.
