“Can all people cook as well as you?”

“Not all of them. Only a few people catch and eat narwhals in the forest. Meat, vegetables, and fish are sold at the market. It is the common people or cooks who buy them and cook them.”

“You weren’t originally a chef, were you?”

“Everything is from experience. It has helped me in this way.”

During herbology training, other noble ladies were frightened and only entered the peripheral area of the forest.

There were people who clung to me saying things like, “Lydith-sama is reliable,” but they only watched from afar when I was being restrained by the knight apprentices under the command of Orchis.

Now I don’t know if they believed in my sins against Cynthia that I didn’t realize, or if they were accomplices of someone who framed up the sins.

I am sure that the girls were troubled by the fact that their fiancées, with whom they had a good relationship, were always so preoccupied with Cynthia.

In that sense, they were victims, too.

“What’s the matter, Lydith? Something on your mind?”

Staring at the empty soup plate, I raised my head in surprise.

“Gilbert-sama, Gilbert-sama too… No, it’s nothing.”

If he also met Cynthia, would he be capricious like Rafael-sama?

I am ashamed of myself for suddenly thinking such a thing and trying to say it.

I don’t think it’s possible for Gilbert-sama and Cynthia-san to get together. It’s ridiculous to be worried by imagining something that’s impossible.

…I am not worried?

No, I am not. I don’t get anxious.

I must be a little tired.

Lydith?

“…um, I… I have a lot of work to do tomorrow. So can I go now?”

“…Oh, I’ve pushed you too hard. I’m sorry.”

Gilbert said, a little ruefully.

I’m probably tired, and I’m sure I’ll feel better after a good night’s sleep.

I worked hard today, cleaning, hunting, and cooking since this morning. It’s a bad tendency to remember a lot of things from school. I need to rest properly.

Thinking of this, coupled with the fact that I had eaten and my hunger had been satisfied, I began to feel sleepy.

“Are you going to go into the forest tomorrow?”

“Yes. I want to set a trap to catch the narwhal hare, pick some raspberries, and get some more of the herbs and mushrooms for preservation.”

“The fire nymphs said they would return to the kitchen.”

“That would be nice. I was wondering what I should do, since I can’t even light the fire in the kitchen by myself.”

“No, I’m not asking you to work with me, I’m just saying that you’re my guest and you don’t have to do anything.”

I shook my head at Master Gilbert’s suggestion.

I have only just become head chef, so I have a few things left to do.

“If Gilbert-sama would take me as his wife and make an effort to have children with me, I would be willing to consider it.”

After I said it, I remembered what Cami-sama had told me not to say.

I was a little sleepy, so I made a mistake. I had been told that I should let all my shame out.

Nonetheless, it seems that Gilbert-sama can see through my lies relatively easily, so I feel like there’s not much point in being embarrassed.

Gilberto-sama sighed deeply, as if he was taken aback.

“I still think you should go back to your country, but I wouldn’t mind hearing what happened to you.”

I felt a rare anger in my heart at Gilberto-sama’s words.

I was unusually angry at Gilbert’s words, “Kissing is fine, but procreation is not. Please take responsibility for taking my first time.”

How could I be asked to go back to my country after having kissed me so hard.

My way of saying it may not have been good, but I glared lightly at how terrible it was.

I think it’s also a good idea not to be too stubborn. I don’t mind if he just forcibly carries me to my room.

I’m wearing a dress and Gilbert-sama is dressed to the nines. We are having dinner alone for the first time and talking peacefully.

Come to think of it, that’s exactly the kind of mood I’m in right now.

It would be rude to let me go back to my room so easily.

“If you don’t… touch me, I will remain the head chef for ever and ever.”

“Stop being so stubborn. You fled from the country of humans for a reason. You would not have fled unless something happened. Tell me. What happened, Lydith?”

I felt more annoyed because he only  wanted to know about my situation, and that meant telling Gilbert about Cynthia.

For some reason, I just didn’t want to do that.

“My job is to cook and serve you delicious food, so I must rest quickly and get ready for tomorrow. If you’ll excuse me.”

If you don’t mind, please don’t disturb me. ”I have to go to the forest tomorrow, and I have to wash my dirty clothes, so I will be very busy.”

I got up from my seat and left the room, but Gilbert did not follow me.

I felt like I should wash the dishes after eating, but I was in no mood to do so.
