191 Did No One Sympathize with Him?

Li Zexin’s snot rubbed on his father’s clothes. “I want to be Auntie Lin’s child. Since she married you, I am willing if she continues to let you be our father.”

Lin Wan leaned back. “If you are willing, I can divorce him and take you with me.”

“You can still joke at a time like this?” Li Yanchen flicked her forehead.

“Be nice to Ms. Lin. Otherwise, I’ll really encourage her to divorce you and take the three of us away.”

!!

“I like Auntie Lin, too. More than daddy,” said Li Zekai.

“Ms. Lin, when we return to Yun City, please take us to see Grandpa.” Li Zexuan pushed Li Yanchen away.

Li Yanchen was baffled. He stood stiffly next to the children and watched them surround Lin Wan. Did no one sympathize with him?

Lin Wan noticed his gaze and pulled him over. “Mr. Li has been stressed about how to tell you all the truth for the past few days. And he’s getting old. Since he has been hiding it all and dealing with everything himself, can I give him a hug?”

“I’m not old,” he said.

Lin Wan hugged him and then gave him a look. “Can’t you act pitiful for once?”

“I finally don’t have to travel abroad so often anymore. Let’s bring my brother back to Yun City.” He turned to his eldest son. “Xuanxuan, if you have something to say, now is the time.”

“Won’t the others find out?” Li Zexuan asked.

“It doesn’t matter. I will handle it. I was only worried about how you three might feel after knowing the truth, so I kept my brother in country H. Now that you have accepted the truth and me, I don’t care what others might think about it.”

“Alright, let’s go out. The children need time to process this.” Lin Wan held Li Yanchen’s hand and walked out of the ward.

Li Yanchen switched on the air conditioner in the car and leaned back on his seat.

He leaned his head on her shoulder and heaved a long sigh of relief.”Wanwan, is everything over finally?”

“Yes. See? I told you. They are sensible children.”

“I can finally have a good night’s sleep. I feel so tired,” Li Yanchen said with his eyes closed.

“Then take a nap. Xuanxuan has a phone. He’ll call us when he’s done.” Lin Wan caressed his face.

In the ward, the three children stood in a line by the bed, looking at the strange yet familiar person. Li Zexin, who was usually the most talkative among the three, was at a loss for words. Li Zekai saw that his brothers were quiet, so he stood there silently.

Li Zexuan was silent for a long while. “Dad,” he finally whispered.

After a while, he dialed Li Yanchen’s number.

Li Yanchen had fallen asleep in the car. He was woken by the call. He got out of the car and gave some instructions to the nurse for the transfer procedure. Then he went upstairs and returned to the hotel with the three children.

At night, in the bathroom of the big bedroom, Lin Wan filled the tub with hot water and scattered some flower petals in it. She also added a few drops of essential oils she had bought. The fragrance was soothing. After everything was ready, she walked to the sofa where Li Yanchen sat. “Go take a bath. I added some essential oils. It relieves fatigue. After that, you can have a good night’s rest.”

Li Yanchen took off his glasses and pinched his nose. “You prepared the bath for me?”

“Yes.”

“Wanwan,” he sighed. “Thank you. But I still have some energy I can spend.” He lifted her up. The path from the bedroom to the bathroom was strewn with Lin Wan’s clothes.

The petals in the tub moved around like boats in a storm. Lin Wan held onto the bathtub with both hands, afraid she might be knocked out.

In the morning, Lin Wan’s entire body ached. Li Yanchen’s meeting was originally at eight in the morning, but he postponed it to the afternoon because of strenuous physical activity of the previous night.

He turned off the alarm and they both slept.

The three children were already awake and playing games in the living room. They all seemed to be in a good mood.

The alarm rang again at nine. Lin Wan covered her ears. “Yanchen, get up. I am going to sleep a while longer.”

“Alright.” Li Yanchen yawned.

When Zheng Gong arrived downstairs, he called Li Yanchen.

“Xuanxuan and the others are up,” said Li Yanchen. “Lin Wan is tired. Let her rest.” Li Yanchen canceled her trip to the amusement park. “I will send the children down instead.”

When they saw the bedroom door open, Li Zekai rushed to his father happily.

“Is Ms. Lin ready?” asked Li Zexin.

“You three go and have fun. Uncle Zheng will take you. Wanwan isn’t feeling very well. She wants to sleep a while longer,” he lied.

“Auntie is sick? Then we won’t go either,” said Li Zekai. “You will go to the office later. Someone needs to be here to take care of Auntie Lin.”

“She’s fine. She just walked a lot yesterday. She said her legs are cramping. She walked with me in the company too.” Li Yanchen hurriedly closed the bedroom door behind him. “You guys go and have fun.”

“Oh… alright.”

“Uncle Zheng is already downstairs. Come, I will drop you to the car.”

Li Zekai carried his small yellow duck bag and happily led the way. After his three sons got into the car, Li Yanchen went to the restaurant to pack some food and went back upstairs.

After the alarm rang for the second time, Lin Wan turned it off and closed her eyes, but she could not fall asleep. She stretched lazily and got ready to get out of bed.

Thinking that Lin Wan was still sleeping, Li Yanchen returned to the bedroom with the packed food. He gently opened the door lock and entered as Lin Wan was changing her clothes.

Lin Wan shrieked as she heard the door open. Li Yanchen was startled, and he bumped against the door frame. “Wanwan, it’s me!”

Lin Wan buried her head into the blanket.

“Xuanxuan and the others went out.” Li Yanchen pulled at the blanket that was wrapped around her.

“I have a meeting at the company in the afternoon. Come with me.”

“No,” Lin Wan refused. “I want to rest.”

“I told the children that you walked too much yesterday that you have leg cramps and can’t go to the amusement park,” he said. “They wanted to stay here and take care of you. If they come back in the afternoon to see you here all alone, they will scold me for neglecting you.”

“Leg cramps? And they believed you?”

“Yes. What should I have said? That you can’t get up because yesterday’s thrusts were too strong?”

Lin Wan threw a pillow into his face. “Get lost!”

“Will you come? If not, I will tell them you were paralyzed last night and they will pester you the whole day,” he said with a smirk. “Just come with me. We can directly go to my office. I am not meeting anyone today.”

“Okay, okay! Can you go out? I want to change. Nothing good will come out of you staying here.” Lin Wan stretched out her leg and kicked Li Yanchen.

When he left the bedroom, she locked the door.

At the Royal Water Bay, Auntie Huang watched a video in the back garden. There was a commotion outside the courtyard.

Ji Hanzhi had somehow managed to sneak into the villa area. She was holding a big sign in her hand that read:

[Li Yanchen colluded with his sister-in-law to ruin my image.]

The ladies of the other villas who were watching the commotion walked out of their houses. Some of them took a picture on their phone.

Auntie Huang, who wanted to watch the fun, opened the door and saw the striking words written in red ink.

“I’m Ji Hanzhi. I’ve been banned from the industry. Li Yanchen and his sister-in-law set up a trap.” Ji Hanzhi had shed her usually sensible and gentle image and was complaining loudly about Li Yanchen.
