Chapter 100 - 100 If My Sister Was Here, Who the Hell Would You Be?

100 If My Sister Was Here, Who the Hell Would You Be?

Back in country H, Li Yanchen was seated on the ground. He held a cup of coffee in one hand and scrolled on his phone with the other.

The man’s heart was filled with joy as he saw more and more chat records between him and Lin Wan.

He looked up to see that the TV was playing a Korean drama. The male and female leads were doing something very inappropriate. He turned off the TV wondering how a business suite in a hotel had such a vulgar channel.

His throat felt dry as he took a few sips of his coffee and opened his briefcase to calm himself down.

!!

At eight in the evening, Li Zekai was still watching cartoons in the living room. He could faintly hear people talking at the door. He leaned against the window and looked out. He saw a woman carrying a suitcase and trying to come into the house.

Auntie Huang stood in the courtyard. “Please forgive me, Ms. Du. It’s not that I don’t want to let you in, but no one goes into the house without Madam’s permission in absence of Mr. Li. It is already late. It’s not appropriate.”

“My sister passed away many years ago. Do you expect me to go to heaven to find her? I can’t even visit her home? And as you said, it’s already late,” said Du Xing. “I came all the way here, but you won’t even let me in. Where am I supposed to go then?”

Du Xing had wanted to look for Li Yanchen the moment they got back from the variety show. However, her pesky ex-boyfriend had followed her back to the country and pestered her for an entire week. This morning, she had finally managed to dupe him and run away.

“Ms. Du, I meant the new Madam. Please wait here for a moment so that I can go and ask her.” Auntie Huang looked troubled.

Du Xing was the former Madam’s younger sister, so there was nothing wrong with her coming to visit her brother-n-law. However, it was late at night so she had to ask the Madam to avoid suspicions.

“New Madam? Auntie Huang, seriously? Do I need to ask her permission to visit my sister’s home? Have you forgotten that my sister used to live here? This home was bought by my uncle for my sister. Even if my sister is gone, this is still the Du family’s property. When my sister was alive, she would always designate a room for me here. Now that she is no longer alive, you people turn your backs on me so brutally.” Du Xing shouted from outside the main door, alerting the security guards.

“Ma’am, please be quiet. You are disturbing the neighborhood.”

“Security, you be the judge of this,” Du Xing said to the guard. “I am here to visit my late sister’s house but Auntie Huang says that she needs to ask permission from the new Madam.”

Auntie Huang was in a difficult position. Just as she was about to turn around and go ask Lin Wan, Li Zekai ran out of the house.

Du Xing was glad to see her sister’s son. “Jiejie! You have gotten so big! The last time I saw you, you were a tiny baby. I am your mother’s sister. Your Yi Niang!”

The eight-year-old Li Zekai didn’t have any memories of Du Xing. He touched the back of his head, “Which Yi Niang?”

“Du Xing. Don’t you remember me? I used to carry you around when you were little. I still have your picture on my phone.” Du Xing took out her phone to show him and prove to him that she was his maternal aunt.

“Auntie Huang, why don’t you let her talk in the courtyard? It’s so late.” After the security guard confirmed that Du Xing was really a relative of the Li family, he advised Auntie Huang to open the door for her.

“Yes, we can wait at the courtyard. I will go inform Madam. I still need her permission to let you into the house.”

Du Xing thanked the security guard as she entered the courtyard.

The last time she had seen Li Yanchen was four years ago. However, it had only been a quick glance. At times, Du Xing was very confused. When her sister was alive, she had taken good care of her, and her brother-in-law had been amiable to her, too. After her sister passed away, he assumed he would treat her even better because of the grief of losing his wife. But it had turned out to be quite the opposite. His friendliness towards her completely disappeared along with her sister’s passing.

On the second floor of the villa, Lin Wan was wearing her earphones. Auntie Huang knocked on the door many times before she finally heard it.

“Auntie, what’s the matter?”

Auntie Huang lowered her head. “Madam, the former Madam’s younger sister has brought her luggage and is demanding to see Mr. Li. I’ve already told her that sir isn’t home, but she said wants to wait here. Do you want to chase her away?”

Lin Wan had never heard Li Yanchen mention a sister-in-law before. But they were relatives, so she saw no reason to turn her away.

“It’s been four years since they last met,” Auntie Huang added.

Lin Wan was considering whether she should go downstairs. What if she went to meet her rashly and gave herself away? However, according to Auntie Huang, they hadn’t seen each other for four years, which meant that this younger sister might not have met the original Lin Wan, anyway. But it bothered her that Auntie Huang had asked her whether she wanted to “chase” her away. It meant that this sister-n-law was not liked here.

“Madam, if you don’t want to go down, I can send her away,” Auntie Huang said when she saw Lin Wan’s troubled face.

Auntie Huang did not have a good impression of Du Xing. She had seen her a few times, four years ago. Du Xing always said she loved her nephews but in reality, she only hung out with them to make her presence known to her brother-in-law. Auntie Huang had lived for sixty years in this world, she knew that D Xing didn’t have good intentions.

Du Xing was wearing a tight camisole dress, revealing a lot of skin. Auntie Huang could smell her perfume from a distance away. If Du Xing said she didn’t come here with ulterior motives, then it was a lie. No one dressed up flirtatiously and appeared at someone’s house in the middle of the night.

Auntie Huang was very anxious for Lin Wan.

“That’s fine too,” Lin Wan put on her earphones again.

Auntie Huang heaved a sigh of relief and headed downstairs with confidence.

“Ms. Du. I am very sorry. Madam seems to have fallen asleep. There is a hotel near the south gate of Royal Water Bay. It would be good if you could stay there for the night,” said Auntie Huang, not bothering with the niceties.

Du Xing, who had been sitting on the stone bench in the courtyard, jumped up. “She has fallen asleep? She can’t face me, can she? Lin Wan!” shouted Du Xing. “If my sister was here, who the hell would you be?”

Auntie Huang took a broom and was about to sweep Du Xing out of the door when she grabbed the stone table. “Jiejie, I’m your aunt, your mother’s sister. Don’t I look like your mother? I used to live in the room on the left of the stairs on the first floor.” Du Xing began to play her emotional card on Li Zekai.

Although Li Zekai missed his mother, he knew she was no longer around. His father had told him she had become an angel. He didn’t remember his mother’s sister at all. He only knew that his mother’s sister had been called loud because she shouted a lot. Even the security guard had come over to intervene. It was very scary.

“Daddy said that mommy was very beautiful and gentle. But you shout so much. I don’t remember you. Auntie Huang, just call the police. Even Uncle Liu’s big yellow dog can’t bark as loudly as her.” Li Zekai turned around and went back inside.

Du Xing’s nose flared in anger. “Big yellow dog? Jiejie, I am really your aunt. Why don’t you call your dad if you don’t believe me?”

“Can’t you call dad yourself? If you really are my mother’s sister, you must have his number, right?” said Li Zekai.

Du Xing scowled. A few days ago, her ex-boyfriend had been pestering her non-stop. She had sent Li Yanchen a message asking for help and to inform him that she was coming to visit him in Yun City. Her messages hadn’t gone though. Her call was barred.

Li Yanchen had blacklisted her phone number as well as her WeChat.
