Chapter 306 - Didn't Mean To Hide

Just as Sera was contemplating silently in her heart whether to call Lucifer or not, her cellphone rang bringing her back to earth.

*ring* *ring*

Fishing out her cellphone, Sera glanced at the caller id and was spellbound. She had thought it must be Maya or Xav.

Sera's reaction was everything comical, her pair of beautiful eyes widened resembling large globes, her small mouth turned into 'O' shape and she was rooted to the ground.

It was Lucifer calling.

Well, not exactly Lucifer calling, it was PRIVATE NUMBER.

Which equals to Lucifer..

Um.. Yeah, it's Lucifer.

What should I do?

"He.. Hello?"

Pressing the cellphone to her ear with a stiff looking smile pasted across her pink, glossy lips, Sera answered the call in a stutter.

"Love? Are you okay?"

Listening to Sera's weird tone resounding through the speakers, Lucifer's handsome face laced with hints of worry as he inquired softly.

"Hehe.. I'm fine, never been better!"

Wishing to bite her tongue, Sera chuckled awkwardly in her bid to hide the panicking emotions within her from Lucifer. Her tone abruptly alternated to a cheery one that left the man speechless.

"Oh.. Okay, I'm glad that you're doing great. I wanted to say something to you.. I hope you're not busy"

Faced with Sera's out-of-the-ordinary behavior, Lucifer was tongue-tied for a second before finding proper words to convey himself.

"Uh? Nope.. Not at all"

Staring at the car ahead with the driver waiting inside which was calling Sera's attention, she shook her head with a mild expression of guilt.

"Hmm.. That's good, actually, I.. I might be busy these few days and because of that, our date, I'm sorry but it has to be delayed.."

'Date?'

The lightbulb in Sera's mind went off, she was reminded of their conversation the other day and also their promise to go on a date. She exclaimed in a loud voiced 'Oh!', that almost bled Lucifer's ears, followed by a deep 'Ooh!' consecutively.

"OH! Ooooh.."

As Sera processed all the information that was relayed by Lucifer, her facial expressions changed rapidly till she was practically beaming. Her problem was solved by the man himself and she didn't have to lie anymore.

"Okay.. It's cool, I mean, I understand. I really do.."

Sera's words came as a surprise to Lucifer, he was expecting her to get upset and shout at him for the negligence on his part. He inwardly sighed in relief before hanging up in a hurry.

"I'm glad that you understand.. I gotta go, I'll call you"

Feeling a lot lighter after talking to Lucifer, Sera bade her farewell and hung up. She wasn't feeling restless but much relieved than earlier.

"Okay, bye.."

Darting a look at her phone screen Sera muttered in a low voice and proceeded towards the car.

"That was close.."

Halting her steps halfway, Sera raised her head to glance at the sky and exhaled heavily. She blinked her eyes, bright and clear, her voice gentle had a tinge of guilt in it.

"Sorry Lucifer.. I didn't mean to hide anything, it's just that.. You don't like ROSE as much as I do, you probably hate him/her.."

"I'm sorry.."

Leaning against the less flashy but prominent looking Aston Martin Vanquish in metallic blue, Lucifer rubbed his forehead while gazing at the dark phone screen in his hand.

"I hope Sera doesn't get mad after finding out the truth.. I mean, it's not like I hid anything from her, it's just that, it's dangerous and I didn't want to worry her.. Right?"

Slipping the cellphone in one of his pockets, Lucifer had a helpless smile on his face that seemed to enhance his striking appearance under the dim lights.

"Anything related to ROSE gets her really hyped up.. She's like a child, excited at ROSE's name just like one gets excited for chocolates.."

Just as Lucifer was on a self-lament mode talking to himself, Adrian's crystal clear voice resounded from behind. He turned around to meet his sparkling blue eyes, the latter's face was gushing with happiness, almost overflowing.

"Boss.."

Nodding his head as Lucifer acknowledged Adrian's curt greeting he exclaimed, trying to sound surprised. He then swiftly turned towards the car door and settled inside without waiting for a response.

"Oh! You're here.."

In a flash, Adrian was behind the wheel perched beside Lucifer who gave a light nod followed by his smooth vibrato. He glanced at his watch, it was 7 in the evening.

"Let's go.."

As the car made it's way through the path covered with towering, lush trees on either side, Lucifer turned to gaze at Adrian. His deep gaze was probing at something.

Shortly after, Lucifer's voice was heard breaking the soothing silence. Unable to holdback his curiosity, the man asked the question bugging him since he saw Adrian's beaming, bright face.

"Ad! How come your girl let you go.. I mean, isn't today the first day of your relationship? It's also your birthday.."

As soon as Lucifer's words reached Adrian, his composed, calm but blissful expression cracked. His eyes were fixed on the road ahead, his fingers holding the steering trembled slightly while his lips curled into a wry smile.

"Ah! That.."
