Chapter 300 - I'm friends with him too

It was soon Xiao Lei's turn to take the stage.

...

A simple-dressed woman was seen walking happily toward a door while holding the hand of a little boy. They seemed to be talking happily as the little boy skipped toward the door. When the woman opened the door, the boy looked up at her and smiled as he said in a whisper, "Dad's going to be surprised that we came back early to celebrate his birthday together."

The woman smiled lovingly and nodded. She then placed a hand on the boy's head before placing a finger against her lips to signal him to be quiet. They then slowly tiptoed into the apartment.

When they got further inside, they could hear weird, grunting sounds.

"Huh?" The little boy c.o.c.ked his head slightly and stopped in his tracks. He then looked up at his mother with a curious expression before mouthing, "What's that sound?"

The woman gulped. She stared at the slightly ajar door, from which the sound was coming from. That was the master bedroom, a room that she shared with her husband... Her legs felt weak all of a sudden, and she felt a sense of foreboding as she stared at the door.

"Let's go somewhere else," she said to her son with a forced smile. Her husband had been distant lately, but she thought that he was just mad because she went back to work against his wishes. However, the sound... She shook her head, too afraid to accept the truth. "Come, honey..." She took her son's hand and tried to take him out of the house quietly.

"No! I want to wish Dad Happy Birthday!" the boy whispered loudly before running away from his mother.

When he pushed the door open and saw the two figures on the bed, it caused his eyes to widen, and the next thing he knew, his vision went partially dark, as if covered by something with slits in them, and he could hear screaming and cursing. One of the voices was his father, and the other, was that of her mother's best friend.

....

"CUT!"

Xiao Lei stopped what she was doing, and after a few seconds, she turned to the director with an expectant gaze, hoping that her first attempt would be a success.

"Good take! We'll take a minute break for touchup!" the director said before turning to his assistant.

Xiao Lei sighed in relief and she looked down at the little boy actor in front of her and said, "Good job, kid! You did really well!"

"Of course!" the kid replied smugly. "I'm a veteran in this, you know!"

She chuckled. "Yes, of course you are, Senior Tommy!"

She had to admit this. This kid was famous, and he had been famous ever since he was a-year-old and starred in a long-running series that ran successfully for five years.

When he heard her call him senior, he grinned like a kid his age whenever someone praised them before saying, "Anyway, my scene is done here. Good job, newbie. Thanks to you, I'd get some time to play with my friends before my lessons start. I'll see you later. Bye!"

With a wave, he then ran off to his manager/mother, who was waiting nearby with a smile.

Xiao Lei went back to her seat, upon which her makeup artist immediately came over to help her do some touchup. She was taking sips of cold water when she heard someone call her.

"Xiao Lei..."

Xiao Lei looked up and saw that the director was in front of her. "Yes, Director?"

"Are you sure about this? I've found the damn stunt double. We can use her now."

Xiao Lei smiled and nodded. "I can do this."

The director sighed and waved a hand nonchalantly. He then said, "Two NGs. Listen to my instructions carefully."

He gave a brief glance to Vivian Siew before looking back at Xiao Lei. "She's been complaining about you since earlier. Honestly, this is normal in our sector, so I didn't pay her any attention. But I'm just letting you know. She might do badly on purpose."

Xiao Lei's smile remained on her face. She had known about this beforehand. "I'll stop her if she tries to do anything stupid."

The director nodded. "Alright, in one minute."

....

The man and the woman he was caught sleeping with sat on the couch, properly dressed and without an ounce of guilt on their faces. His wife sat opposite them, having sent their upset son to bed earlier while those two were changing.

"Why?" she asked her husband, who had barely looked at her since earlier.

"I was bored..." her husband replied.

The woman then looked at her husband's mistress, who unfortunately was her best friend for the last of 10 years. "How could you do this to me? I thought we are friends."

Her best friend smirked. She stood up and stepped forward so that she was right in front of the woman. "Friends? Of course we are friends... But I'm friends with him too... and I like him more than I like you... and I think he likes me more than he likes you too..."

She then poked the woman's shoulder as she said tauntingly, "Look at yourself... Every since you've been married to him, you've gotten worse and worse. You stopped taking care of yourself, and look at your hair!"

She flipped the woman's hair up and said, "Is that a woman's hair? Look at how unkempt it is! No wonder he's so embarrassed to even be seen with you now!"

The man glanced at his wife before sneering, "You only have yourself to blame!"

His wife clenched her fists as she stared at her ex-best friend. "That doesn't give you a right to sleep with my husband! How do you sleep at night knowing that you're sleeping with my husband, the father of my son?!"

The mistress laughed. "Once he divorces you, the kid would be my son, not yours!"

"Divorce?" The woman stared at her husband angrily. "You're going to divorce me? For her? And you're taking DiDi1 away from me?"

The man glanced at her. "DiDi is better off with me than a klutz of a mother like you. He would have a better future with me."

"Over my dead body!" the woman snapped. She then glared at her husband's mistress and snapped, "There's no way I would let a two-faced s.l.u.t like you by my son's mother! Anybody but you!"

"You!" The ex-best friend raised a hand, and her lips twitched as it threatened to form into an evil smile.

PAP! means "younger brother", but in Chinese family, it's sometimes used by parents when referring to their youngest son/only son.
