Chapter 277 - Do you think I'm afraid of the Shenlong Family?

"I'd never forgotten about this scar," Xiao Lei said as glared up at him. She then took a step back from him. "Please leave. Please leave us alone, leave my son alone."

"What are you going to do if I don't?"

"Either you leave by yourself, or I would make sure that the 'Murong Yu' who loaned you his identity disappear," Han Ye threatened as he took a step forward.

"Do you think I'm afraid of you?" Murong Yu stepped forward, and his eyes narrowed as he completedly showed the aura that the leader of a gang should have; one which he had been hiding and suppressing in order to get near to Xiao Zhihao. At this moment, he did not want to hide anymore.

Murong Yu knew that this would be the last day that he would be able to stay at the school, and he did not want to leave without showing Han Ye that he was not afraid of him. With a snarl, he added. "Or do you think I'm afraid of the Shenlong Family?"

The two fully grown men stood on their spots as they stared at each other; it was as they were shooting daggers at each other with their eyes. Xiao Lei looked between the two of them before her eyes settled down on Murong Yu. She then said in a tired voice, "I'm sick of running, Murong Yu. Can you just tell me what you want from me? Please don't involve my son in this."

"MUM!" Xiao Zhihao suddenly stepped between Xiao Lei and Murong Yu as he yelled. "STOP IT!"

Xiao Lei tore her eyes away from Murong Yu to look at her son. There was a mixture of emotions on his face as he stared at his mother with incredulous eyes. She recognized fear, anger, and disappointment in his eyes, and it hurt her to see that they were being directed at her.

"How could you treat my teacher like that?" he hissed. "Are you crazy?!"

Xiao Zhihao then glared at Han Ye. "And who are you to threaten Mr. Murong like that?! He's a 100 times, no, a thousand times better than you!"

"Zhihao!" Xiao Lei snapped and reached out to take his hand. She tried to pull him toward her, but he resisted and grabbed onto Murong Yu's shirt. "He's not a real teacher! He's not someone you should get near to!"

"Then who should I get near to?" Xiao Zhihao snapped as he flung his mother's hands away. He then pointed at Han Ye angrily with tears in his eyes. "Him?! Your lover boy?!"

"What are-" Xiao Lei gasped at the way Xiao Zhihao was talking to her. And if a heart could really break, hers would have broken to a thousand pieces by now,

Xiao Zhihao clenched his fists as he said in an accusatory tone, "I know you have feelings for him. Are you happy now? Are you happy that you can finally move on guilt-free now that Dad's gone? I bet you just told me that he's dead to make yourself better. Dad's still alive! You're just lying to me so that you can move on!"

"Xiao Zhihao!" Han Ye snapped. His voice was extremely stern and sharp as he scolded the boy, "How could you talk to your mother like that?!"

"You stay out of this! If you have never appeared in our lives, then none of this would have happened! I hate you! I hate all of you!" Xiao Zhihao yelled. "I hate all of you guys! I wish none of you have ever happened! I wish I didn't run into their car back then!"

Xiao Lei clenched her fists in order to tame her emotions. A part of her wanted to cry and explain things to her son, but the other part of her wanted to protect him. She also wanted to hug and console her obviously in pain son, but in the end, she merely said to Han Ye, "Take him away from here first!"

"I'm not leaving you with him!" Han Ye replied as he kept his eyes on Murong Yu.

"Take him!" Xiao Lei snapped.

Han Ye hesitated for a moment before stepping past her. When Xiao Zhihao saw him getting nearer, he immediately pointed a finger at him. "Don't you dare touch me!"

Han Ye did not say anything. He grabbed onto the boy's raised hand and lifted him up before throwing him over his shoulder.

"Let me go! You b*stard! Let me go!" Xiao Zhihao thrashed around. He kept kicking wildly, and for a growing boy, the strength in his kicks was something to be proud of.

However, despite the pain, Han Ye did not release his grips on him at all. He looked at Xiao Lei and said, "Let's go. I won't leave you here with him alone."

Xiao Lei nodded. She took one last glance at Murong Yu before turning around. Just as they were about to walk away, Murong Yu suddenly asked with a slightly pained expression, "Have you ever thought about how I felt when you left me just like that? You left, just like that. Did you know how worried I was? Did you know how long I looked for you?"

Xiao Lei stopped in her tracks, and Han Ye stopped behind her. Even the thrashing Xiao Zhihao stopped moving for a while as he stared at Murong Yu. A thought passed through his mind, "Is the woman he loves my mother?"

As for Xiao Lei, she closed her eyes tightly as Murong Yu's words. Of course she knew how much pain she had caused him, but she could not admit it now. Clenching her fists tightly, she eventually spat out with much effort, "No."

With that, she, Han Ye, and Xiao Zhihao walked away.

"How could you be so cruel!" Murong Yu uttered under his breath angrily as he slammed a fist onto one of the benches next to him.

The moment she made a turn, she walked way ahead of Han Ye and Xiao Zhihao because she did not want them to see what happened next.

A tear silently dropped from the corner of one of her eyes as she mumbled something under breath, "I'm sorry."

She knew she hurt Murong Yu, but at that time, she only cared about getting Xiao Yunjie out of the underworld. She knew she was selfish, but she did not know what to do then. It was never her intention to get Murong Yu to fall in love with her, but it happened anyway.

"Is that why God is punishing me by taking my loved one away now?" she thought to herself, blaming herself for everything.
