Chapter 236 - Why didn't you scream!

Little Fan Wushuang glared at the man, as if the pain was giving her courage. She was scared out of her mind, but she had to think straight, so she could not allow her fear to cripple her thinking process.

When the man saw that she did not scream, he frowned in displeasure. "Why don't you scream?" he asked in a harsh tone as he stabbed his knife into the dirty mattress Little Fan Wushuang was on.

Little Fan Wushuang gulped.

When she did not answer, he snapped, "I asked why didn't you scream!"

Her eyes went wide at his sudden outburst, and her body moved back slightly instinctively. "I... You said that there's no point for me to scream..."

The man narrowed his eyes and thought about it for a while. "Fine..."

"Is he an idiot?" Little Fan Wushuang thought to herself as she kept her eyes on him.

PAP!

He slapped her so suddenly that her head whipped back, and she accidentally bit the inside of her left cheek, causing her to cry out in pain.

"Urgh!"

Little Fan Wushuang glared at him as tears ran down her cheeks from the pain.

"I know what you were thinking!" the man snapped. His features were so twisted that he looked like a demon under the dim lighting of the room.

"No..." Little Fan Wushuang said softly. "I... I was wondering how much are you going to ask for me. T-this is... a kidnapping, right?"

The man laughed evilly. "Well, that's for me to know."

She thought quickly before adding, "I-I hope that you ask for more."

He raised an eyebrow and asked in a gentler voice, "Why?"

He was curious to know what she was up to.

"I'm an heiress who is set to inherit a multi-million-dollar company, and if I have to be ransomed, I'd like to know at what price," she said in a small, timid voice as she made herself look smaller and weaker than she already was.

She remembered watching a movie that her mother was in before, and at that time, she asked her mother why her character pretended to be timid even though she was smarter than her abuser. And her mother told her then that men who hurt women and children hated to be challenged. Therefore, it was vital for her to play to her kidnapper's ego.

The man stared at her, wondering what she was trying to play. In the end, he decided that she was too young to outsmart him, especially since Yi Xia told him that Little Fan Wushuang was an arrogant child who thought she was smarter than anyone else where she was nothing but an insignificant speck of dust.

Based on what she was saying, it appeared that she had placed a value on her own life.

"I'll ask for enough..." the man sneered.

Little Fan Wushuang knew that she had to push her luck. She pouted and said in a seemingly annoyed tone, "I-I hope they pay you more than five million dollars. I mean, my parents were prepared to pay my previous kidnapper three million dollars..."

The man smirked. He knew about the previous kidnapping case. "Your parents are dead! Do you think your uncle would pay that much for you?"

Little Fan Wushuang showed him a sad but determined expression. "He would!"

"Even if he has the money, he wouldn't pay that much for you, his orphaned niece! If I were him, I'd just keep the money and let you die."

Little Fan Wushuang raised her chin defiantly. "No! I refused to be ransomed for anything less than 5 million dollars!"

The man was confused by the young girl in front of him. This was the first time his victim asked to be ransomed at a higher amount. "What?"

"I'm the daughter of President Fan Lei and Chen Qingting, and the next to inherit Fan Entertainment! How can my kidnapper demand anything less? Even 5 million dollars is too low! The vault at the house my dad bought me has more than that and-" Little Fan Wushuang bit down on her lower lips, appearing as if she had said something that she shouldn't.

She then turned her head away, but the moment she looked away, the man placed his hand around her chin and yanked it so that she would be facing him. He raised her chin so high that she felt her neck felt stretched out.

"What is this vault?" the man asked in a soft voice.

"I-I'm not supposed to say..." Little Fan Wushuang stuttered. "D-Dad said so..."

Swoosh!

"Argh!" Little Fan Wushuang cried when she felt the pain on her right upper arm. The crazy man had cut her with the knife, and blood was flowing out of the cut wound, soaking through

"Please... don't," she begged as tears fell like a waterfall.

"Tell me about this vault..."

"D-dad built it for me... It's for emergency..."

"What's inside?"

Little Fan Wushuang bit down on her lip to stop herself from talking. She even faked a guilty expression, as if she had said something that she should not.

The man rested the knife on her right cheek.

Little Fan Wushuang felt the cold blade before a sharp pain. "No!" she cried as she tried to move her face away from the knife.

"This is just a nick, and it won't leave a scar... If you behave and do as you're told, I'll leave your face alone..." he threatened.

He placed the knife down and used two hands to lift her up. He then placed her in seated position before saying in a gentle voice, "Look, kid... I'm not going to ask you again. Do you understand what would happen if you hold things back from me again?"

Little Fan Wushuang looked up at him with a fearful expression as she nodded.

"Y-yes..."

"Good girl," he said as he smiled and patted her head. "So, what's inside the vault?"

"M-money."

"How much money?"

"10 million dollars."

The man's eyes went wide open. "10 million dollars?"

Little Fan Wushuang nodded. "M-my father would put a million dollars in cash inside the vault each year... on my birthday. H-he's going to gift it to me on my 18th birthday."

The man nodded as a smile appeared on his face. He had heard that the late President Fan Lei doted on his daughter, and he had also heard rumors of President Fan Lei setting up a trust fund for the girl. But he had never heard of this cash in a vault thing.

Even so... He would not be surprised if someone as rich as President Fan Lei did something like that.

The woman who hired him only offered to pay him 2 million dollars, and she said it would be paid in installments to avoid any suspicion. He could take the 10 million dollars from the girl's vault and the 2 million dollars from the woman. With inflation, 2 million dollars might not last him for long, but with that 10 million dollars, he could move overseas and live a high life without having to work again.

He glared at Little Fan Wushuang and threatened, "Kid, if you lied to me, you'd wish that I kill you immediately..."

"I-I know," Little Fan Wushuang stuttered. "I-I can take you there."

"Nice try. Tell me the password."

"N-no. What if you kill me?"

"I can kill you right now and just live with the ransom that I'd be getting from your aunt and uncle."

Little Fan Wushuang gulped. She could tell that the man was bluffing. She had seen the greedy look in his eyes, but she had to play along. So she immediately said, "The money is placed on multiple floors, and each of them has a different security system. I can give you the password to the first one, but after that, you'd need my voice, fingerprints, and codes."

The man stood up and walked around for a while as he pondered it. That woman did not give him a long period of time. Her instruction was for him to take Little Fan Wushuang far away and get rid of her. She did not care for his methods.

If he were to move around, the woman might notice him. He did not want to trigger her suspicion.

The man then removed the ropes that were binding Little Fan Wushuang's wrists and feet and said,  "Remove your clothes..."

Little Fan Wushuang held onto her shirt tightly and shook her head, but when she saw him reaching for the knife, she immediately yelled out, "I'll do it!"
