Chapter 210 - Nervous?

When they arrived at Fan Mansion, Han Ye was waiting to be directed into the foyer. While they were still in the car, Han Ye noticed that her hands were slightly shaking, and he asked in a calm manner, "Nervous?"

"Nervous? Why would I be?" she stuttered nervously before putting her hands underneath her thigh

He raised a brow and said, "You don't usually come to this kind of event... I think."

She glanced out and looked at the cars that were moving slowly in a line. With a low voice, she mumbled, "I went to President Du's party."

"That was a small party compared to this."

She whipped her head around and looked at him. "You're joking!"

There were so many people in Du Mansion that day!

"No, I'm not. The Du Family's party is usually bigger than that. You might be able to see it soon. I think that when Wyatt hits one-month-old, Old Madam Du would force President Du to throw him a full moon party. That would be interesting, and you should go. A lot of people would be there, people who are even more famous than the ones that you might see today."

They were unable to throw a full moon party for Little Monkey because of the circ.u.mstances surrounding her birth back then, and the twins... Given how no one knew about them until they were about four years old meant that DX had missed out on a lot of their first major milestones.

So for Wyatt?

Old Madam Du would definitely make it big since this was the first time she would get to organize a full moon party for her grandchildren.

When Xiao Lei thought about the baby boy, she smiled and nodded. "Wyatt is a beautiful boy."

"He is..." Han Ye smiled. He continued to engage her in small chat in order to take her mind off things.

When their car arrived right in front of the house, Han Ye pulled the car to a stop. He then looked at her and asked, "Ready?"

She took a deep breath before nodding once. "Ready!"

When one of the butlers stationed there opened their doors for them, Han Ye quickly got down from his seat. The moment he got down, a soft white light was beamed on him. There were cameras that were snapping away, no doubt they were reporters.

"People from entertainment background always like to be the center of attention," Han Ye thought as he glanced at a camera.

He adjusted his black fitted tuxedo, and his expression was similar to what DX always wore at parties, serious and stoic.

As he was walking around the car toward Xiao Lei's side, the head butler of Fan Mansion headed down to greet him.

"Mr. Han," said the old butler after a bow.

Han Ye nodded at him. He walked past the head butler and went to Xiao Lei's side. Bending over slightly, he offered her his hand. "My lady..."

"Who is your lady?" She rolled her eyes as she placed her hand on his. When she stepped out of the car, a loud, audible gasp could be heard coming from the head butler.

There was a shocked expression on his face when he saw her.

"Y-young..."

Noticing that there were people looking over at them with weird glances, Han Ye interrupted him and said loudly to Xiao Lei, "Xiao Lei, stop slouching and walk with your back straight. Don't embarrass me."

She glared at him. "I'm already standing as straight as I could!"

She adjusted the Chanel Boy bag, which she borrowed from An Xin as well, on her shoulder. She had to squint her eyes a little because of all the flashes from the cameras, and she could not help but mutter under her breath, "Damn these people. Can't they turn off the flashes..."

He laughed softly and took her hand. He placed her hand around his arm and said, "Can you walk or do I need to carry you?"

"Can you just keep quiet and walk?" She rolled her eyes at him while wondering which screw he was losing tonight. He had seen her in high heels before so this shouldn't be a shock to him. As they walked past the head butler into the mansion, she gave the old man a brief glance.

She recognized him immediately. "He aged a lot..." she thought. She recognized him as one of the butlers that used to work for her parents.

Looking at his shocked expression, she was about to say something, just something insignificant, but before she could even say one word, Han Ye said, "Are you ready to memorize everything from tonight?"

"What?"

As a young butler led them into the mansion, Han Ye said in a hushed tone, "Do you think you're here to eat for free? You're still working, Ms. Xiao. I don't mind you using pen and paper, but I don't think that matches your image today."

She pouted and elbowed him. When he winced and glared at her, she hissed, "Why are you being such an a*s today?"

"Shh..." He looked forward and stopped right outside the main hall where the party was held. "The fun is about to begin."

He tapped the butler's shoulder, and when the young butler looked at him, he asked, "Are you going to announce our arrival?"

"Yes, Mr. Han, Master Fan Chuan requested so."

Han Ye nodded. Obviously, all the staff were trained and could recognize who he was just by his looks alone. However, it was impossible for them to know who Xiao Lei was since in his RSVP email, he merely stated "2 pax".

"This is my assistant, Ms. Xiao. Make sure that you announce it correctly."

The young butler nodded. "Yes, Mr. Han."

When the butler knocked on the door, the huge double-leaf door was pulled open from the inside, and the butler walked in first. He then moved to the side to allow Han Ye and Xiao Lei to walk in.

When they were standing right in the middle of the entrance, the butler announced, "President Du's assistant, Mr. Han Ye, and his companion, Ms. Xiao is here."

A lot of people turned around. Some were disappointed that DX was not here, others were surprised that Han Ye brought a companion. As far as everyone knew, for the last 10 years, if Han Ye attended an event without DX, he would always attend it alone.

Hence when they heard that he came with a companion, they were curious. There were some who were whispering to each other as Han Ye and Xiao Lei slowly made their way into the middle of the room, where some of the members of the Fan Family were at.

"President Fan," Han Ye greeted the man with a polite smile. "I'm sorry, but President Du is a little busy at the moment."

Fan Chuan forced a smile as he shook Han Ye's hand. "I've heard. Please congratulate President Du for me."

"I will." Han Ye smiled. He released Fan Chuan's hand and glanced briefly at Xiao Lei. He then looked back at Fan Chuan and said, "This is my assistant, Ms. Xiao. She's new, so if she were to make any mistakes, I apologize for her in advance."
