Chapter 207 - I miss you guys

When Han Ye bowed, she bowed as well.

"Dad... Mum... It has been a while... I miss you guys," she thought in her heart as she bowed. She wanted to cry, but in order to hide her identity, she forced herself to be brave. "I'm still alive and well... Don't worry about me."

When Han Ye bowed for the second time, she did the same. As she did so, she thought, "I've found Han Ye. Do you remember him? We used to play together... Yunjie is away at the moment, so Han Ye has been taking care of me. He doesn't know who I am yet, but like before, he's still so kind to others..."

When Han Ye bowed down for the third time, Xiao Lei bowed while placing a hand on her stomach as she thought, "I'm pregnant again. This time, I'm a surrogate mother for two kind men. Don't worry about me, Dad, Mum. I'm doing this willingly. Please bless the babies in me and look over them just like how you've been looking after me. I promise... I'll bring Zhihao over soon."

Han Ye then put his hands together and closed his eyes, and Xiao Lei emulated him.

From the corner of his eye, Han Ye took a quick glance at Xiao Lei, who had her hands put together. He thought, "She must have a lot to talk about with her parents. I need to fake it for a while."

He closed his eyes and pretended as if he were talking to her parents in his heart.

Behind them, a small group of people was whispering to each other.

"Is that President Du's assistant? What is he doing here?"

"Is President Du here?"

"I heard that President Du is coming to the party later."

"But where is he?"

"Probably at a hotel somewhere. I have never heard of him socializing with the Fan Family before."

"Then why is his assistant here alone? And who's the girl?"

"Beats me."

Fan Xichen was standing near the graves, and he could hear them. However, he did not bother to talk to the gossiping guests. He looked at Han Ye as he mumbled curiously, "Why is he talking for so long? And that girl..."

He stared at Xiao Lei for a long time while thinking, "She seems familiar... Is she someone from the branch family? And..."

He thought about her weird action of holding her stomach earlier and thought curiously, "Is she pregnant?"

Xiao Lei could feel that someone was staring at her, and she quickly wrapped up the things that she wanted to say to her parents. Then, almost abruptly, she turned her head to Fan Xichen and caught him off guard.

Fan Xichen gasped when he saw her sharp, angry stare. He gulped, and he felt slightly out of breath, as if something was wrapped tightly around his neck.

"Xichen... XICHEN!"

When he heard his name, he quickly turned around and saw that it was his brother-in-law. "Brother..."

"What's wrong? Is it too hot?" Su Wei asked him in a worried tone. "Do you want to take a rest? I can handle it from here."

Fan Xichen glanced at Xiao Lei, but she had turned away. It was like whatever just happened was a dream. "Did I see it wrongly?" he murmured.

"See what wrongly?" Su Wei asked. "Go take a rest if you're tired. Otherwise, you won't be able to join the party tonight."

"Erm... Alright then," Fan Xichen replied softly. He shook his head slightly before turning to look at his brother-in-law. "Where's my sister?"

"Back at Fan Mansion with Su Qi. He doesn't really want to come. Since he paid his respect this morning, your sister thinks that it's better for him to stay at home and rest. Anyway..." Su Wei glanced around at the remaining people before saying, "The crowd is thinning out. I think in about an hour or so, they would disperse."

"Uncle Shaohuang is here..." Fan Xichen said.

"Where? I didn't see him."

Fan Xichen shrugged. "He was here earlier, but after a while, he left."

He then glanced at the grave next to President Fan and Chen Qingting and said, "He didn't even pay his respect to his niece."

The grave that he was looking at belonged to Fan Wushuang. Fan Chuan built it after she was declared death in absentia. There were plenty of flowers on her grave. Everyone who visited her parents' graves would also pay their respects to that empty grave as well.

Su Wei sighed softly. "He has never accepted her death. Just ignore him."

"He would be at the party later, right?"

Su Wei nodded. "It's his right to be there. Besides, it won't look good on us if we were to stop him from coming."

Fan Xichen sneered, "That good for nothing..."

"You're one to talk," Su Wei scoffed. "Go back now. Don't be late for the party or your dad is going to get mad at you again."

"Alright, Brother."

After Fan Xichen left, Xiao Lei and Han Ye stopped by "Fan Wushuang's" grave.

"Aren't you going to pay respect to her? Isn't she your friend?" Xiao Lei asked out of curiosity as she stared at her own grave.

Han Ye gave a brief glance at it before walking away. When Xiao Lei rushed to his side, he said, "I have always believed that she's alive and well..."

He added in thought, "And I'm right..."

Xiao Lei gave one last glance at the grave before saying, "Can we drop by somewhere before we leave?"

"Where?"

Xiao Lei took him to two other graves with no names on it. She then cleared off the fallen leaves that had landed on the graves. Seeing that there was no one else there, she bowed three times to the graves.

"Do you know these people?"

"No... But I've been here before..." she murmured. "I walked past them previously and thought that it's rather sad that no one pays their respect to them."

She was lying. Even though she felt bad that she kept lying to Han Ye, she had no choice. It was another lie that she had to tell, except that this lie was something that she promised her parents that she would bring to her grave.

The owners of these two graves were her mother's twin and her cousin. Even though she never knew why these graves were left unmarked, but she remembered that her parents told her to keep this a secret.

As far as the world was concerned, her aunt was alive and well. Her parents were supposed to tell her this when she got older, but because of the accident...

Xiao Lei clenched her fists as she walked away from the graves. There was no way for her to find out about the truth now.

Han Ye noticed that she was feeling disturbed, so he did not bother her with questions. Instead, he just walked slightly behind her as they went toward their car.

While they were walking, unbeknown to them, someone else was watching them.

A man, who was dressed in a black mourning suit, kept his eyes on Xiao Lei the entire time. He was smoking in his car when he saw her walking in the distance.

The moment his eyes landed on her, his mouth went slightly agape while his previously tensed expression turned to shock.

"Qing... ting?" he murmured. When he watched Xiao Lei talking to Han Ye, a smile slowly appeared on his face. "No... No... She's... Wushuang. She's definitely Wushuang!" he murmured adamantly.

He had seen Chen Qingting's charred body, but he had never seen her daughter's body. And despite what his brother kept telling him, he would never believe that his smart niece would die just like that.
