Chapter 158 - She went alone?!

Lu Ziyan smiled as he looked at the empty seat opposite him. "Yeah... She's about to come back from the powder room. I'll talk to you later."

Han Ye nodded. The last time he talked to Lu Ziyan, the latter still had trouble asking An Xin out. Therefore, it surprised it a little by how fast the man was moving.

Just as Lu Ziyan was about to put the phone down, he heard Han Ye asking, "Oh wait, did you manage to find out the Mole Man?"

Not a day went by when the Mole Man did not appear in Han Ye's mind. He wanted to meet this Mole Man that caused Xiao Lei to have such an expression. It was like fear and anger mixed together with a whole lot of sadness.

Lu Ziyan thought for a moment before replying, "Oh yeah... No. He went into an alley on the day that you mentioned and never came out. And before you ask, no, I don't know why. I can't see what happened in that alley that day. A lot of cars went in and out, but not a man matching your description. My guess is that he was in one of those cars, but so far, I didn't find any lead."

Han Ye frowned. "Wait, there's still a place without any surveillance cameras in Imperial City?"

As far as he recalled, Du Corporation had donated a crazy amount of money to the government for them to install and update their surveillance cameras everywhere.

"Well, there are two there... But some masked wearing teenage kid spray-painted all over the lens. If he went in there, he's probably not your normal law-abiding citizens. It's not exactly a safe place. That's a famous drug dealing place."

"Under whose management?" Han Ye asked curiously.

"Not under any groups in particular. Just random sellers not affiliated with any particular groups. They are people who don't last long in Imperial City."

"Alright... Did you tell Xiao Lei about the man?"

"Yeah, and I warned her not to go there, but she ignored my advice. In fact, she had been going there every now and then. It was good that the man she's looking for never appeared. Otherwise, who knows what would have happened to her."

"What?! She went alone?" Han Ye gasped.

"Yeah... She went there every day after going to the hospital. Don't worry. She went with the driver that Guangying appointed for her. She would be there, waiting in the car for about 15 minutes. The driver made sure to send her home, and he always waited for her to enter the compound of the apartment building before leaving."

Hearing Lu Ziyan's words, Han Ye exhaled a sigh of relief. He then sat down on the bed and pulled out a note from his pant pocket before saying, "Oh yeah, one last question..."

"Urgh," Lu Ziyan groaned jokingly. He looked at his beautiful companion, who was wearing a flowy light green babydoll dress with tiny magnolias all over it. When she was walking toward him, his heart skipped a beat as his breathing accelerated.

When she reached their table and smiled at him, it took all his effort to stop himself from hanging up on Han Ye.

With an apologetic gaze, he whispered, "Sorry, An Xin, I'm on the phone with Han Ye... Yeah, sure. Order anything you want. I'll just get the same thing. Don't worry, I can eat anything..."

He then focused on his phone again. "Han Ye?"

"Oh great, you're still on the phone! I thought I lost you there." Han Ye said, "Anyway, I found a note in a pocket in one of my blazers. I don't recognize the handwriting. Did you put it in?"

"Why would I put a note in your pocket?"

"Hmm... I thought so too as well. But this note is not incoherent, so it's not like I can ignore it. It's telling me to go to Restaurant West Wind, and since it has my name on it, I don't think this was mistakenly put into my blazer."

Lu Ziyan tapped his fingers on the table while trying to think where did the note come from. "Erm... I can't remember. Which blazer is this?"

Han Ye pulled out the said blazer from his bag and said, "The one that you gave me last time. The only midnight black one that I had. The one that I wore to the New Year's Eve party early this year. Ah, I think you brought it back the day when we went to Du Mansion for dinner."

Lu Ziyan thought for a moment before nodding. "Oh, now I remember. It's the one that Kavi asked me to give back to you."

"I think so."

"Erm... I think an old lady gave it to her? Anyway, maybe you can go and check out that restaurant stated on the piece of paper? Maybe that old lady has something to talk to you about."

Han Ye agreed. He planned to do so ever since he found it in the blazer last night when he was at a dinner party. He just wanted to check with Lu Ziyan to make sure that it was not something from him or Tian Le. "Alright then... Sorry to bother you. Say hi to An Xin for me."

"No, and bye," Lu Ziyan said before hanging up quickly. He then muttered an apology to An Xin.

"Is it something important?" An Xin asked while looking at him shyly. This was their first date... as friends. Even though Lu Ziyan told her to be casual and that she did not have to dress herself up, she was still glad that she did not listen to him. This restaurant was too fancy for her to come in a t-shirt and jeans!

"No, just Han Ye. He just got home. Anyway, enough about him. Let's talk about you. I want to know more about you and your day." Lu Ziyan smiled brightly at her as he looked at her with a sincere gaze.

An Xin smiled. She could tell that Lu Ziyan was serious about wanting to know more about her day. He was not like her ex-husband, who asked about her day just for the sake of asking.

"Well, everything was great... and..." she continued to talk in an animated manner.
