Chapter 149 - Du Mansion Party (15)

Lyle smirked and turned his gaze to look upon the movie screen.

"It's good to have everything, and I appreciate everything that my parents did for me. But... it is also kind of stifling," he said while wearing a sad expression, "to have people telling you constantly that 'it's lucky you are born in the Du Family'. It's as if no matter what I do, no one will recognize my achievement as my own. So, I want to build a company of my own, without my parents' help. So, what would I get out of this? I guess you can say that it's a sense of achievement."

Xiao Zhihao looked at the serious expression on Lyle's face. Indeed, he thought that Lyle and Jack were lucky to be born in such a wealthy and seemingly loving family.

"Then how do you propose we go forward with this?"

"I need money," Lyle said with a wry smile. When he saw Xiao Zhihao looking at him with a curious and disbelief glance, he chuckled and added, "Let me rephrase that. I need a sum of money that doesn't come from my parents' pocket. Not even one cent. This means that I can't use any of the money that I earned from using my parents' money. Anyway, I think you need money too, right?"

Xiao Zhihao nodded. "All the time."

Lyle continued, "We don't have a recording room here, but our school has one, and it's a state-of-the-art recording studio. I know someone who can get us a slot out of school hours, so it won't affect our studies. We will do the recording in there, and you can be in a disguise. Actually, I'd prefer for you to be in a disguise as well. Otherwise, people will know who we are quick enough. We'll see how it goes, and if you get popular, we'll find ways to monetize it, and as for the profit, 50% of it would go into the company's account while the rest is yours."

"What about you?"

Lyle smirked and twirled his left index finger around to indicate his surroundings. "I don't need money for myself. The more money we have in the company's account, the faster we can succeed."

"Then when do we start? And who else is in this?"

"My brother and my best friend. They don't need money as well, so this is just a side project for them. We are all trained musically, so there's no need to get you a band. Once we begin, I might tell my godsister about it since she's coming back soon, and I don't like to hide things from her. So, right now, including you, we can say that there will be 5 of us."

When he saw that Xiao Zhihao was still a little hesitant, Lyle added, "We are in the age of the internet where anonymity can give us a lot of fortune even at our young age. Don't you want to earn more? You can do a lot of things, like helping the girl you were calling the other day."

Xiao Zhihao frowned as he glared at Lyle. "You were stalking me?"

"I was looking out for you when I overheard you singing. Zhihao, I'm just giving you a chance to better your lives. Time waits for no one."

Xiao Zhihao stood up and walked around. As he looked up at the theatre screen with his back facing Lyle, a serious expression appeared on his face as he thought, "A mansion... Parties... A movie theatre at home... I want all these things too..."

He looked at his smooth, soft palms and his mother's rough, calloused palms appeared in his mind. He had seen how hard she worked to keep them alive and well. With a determined expression, he thought, "If I have more money, Mum doesn't have to work so hard anymore, and we can have money to pay someone to find Dad for us..."

Turning around to look at Lyle, Xiao Zhihao nodded. "Alright. Let's give it a try."

With a slight smile that resembled his father, Lyle stood up and gave his jacket a tug to straighten it. He then offered his hand as he said, "I'll send you the details of everything once I've got everything set up."

Xiao Zhihao glanced at Lyle's hand for a second before shaking it.

Once they released each other's hand, Lyle glanced at the Jaeger-LeCoultre watch that his mother got for him last year before saying, "Let's go. The final event is about to begin."

.....

Back at West Garden, the final event for the party had begun. It was a dance party. A slow song was playing in the background, and most people were dancing in the middle of the garden. Even young children and teenagers came to join in the fun.

Han Ye and Angela Zhang...In order for the rest to join in the fun, Luo Guangying asked Naomi Nakamura out for a dance while Lu Ziyan danced with Rin Nakamura. Even Caleb and Little Monkey were dancing together while their parents watched.

"Xiao Lei, according to Guang Ying, your husband has disappeared for a while?" Kai Xin asked while she kept an eye on Little Monkey who was playing along with Caleb. As for her husband, he was currently performing his son-in-law duty by dancing with her mother.

Kai Xin chuckled when she saw her mother laughing while DX twirled her around as if she were still a nimble young lady.

"Yes, Kai Xin."

"Aren't you worried that your husband might be unhappy once he finds out about the surrogacy?"

Xiao Lei nodded. "I thought about it, but I think that he will understand why I do this."

Kai Xin smiled and rubbed her belly to calm her son who was kicking around in there. "Your husband must love you very much."

"Yeah..." Xiao Lei chuckled and looked at DX before she added with a soft expression, "I think President Du also loves you very much. I saw the press conference from two to three years ago."

Kai Xin had a very gentle smile on her face as she mumbled, "Yeah... That man's important to me."

She then asked, "Xiao Lei, what do you think of Angela?"

"Huh?"

"Do you think she's suitable for our Han Ye?" Kai Xin asked while sipping from her newly opened bottle of fruit juice. "Han Ye is pretty important to us, so I pay great attention to his love life."

Xiao Lei laughed softly. "I think you're just bored."

The younger woman chuckled. "Yeah... Being pregnant is great, and I love my kids dearly, but to be honest, carrying the child of Du XiAn means that there's a lot of things that I can't do. Like going out into the city to play... or even work."

Xiao Lei smiled. Just from the size of her bulging belly alone, she could tell that Kai Xin was about to go into labor soon. If she was right, and that nothing had changed in the relationship between DX and Kai Xin, then DX probably restricted Kai Xin's movements for her own safety.

Looking at Han Ye and Angela Zhang, both of whom were dancing happily under the moonlight, Xiao Lei murmured, "Han Ye has been alone for so long..."

At this moment, Little Monkey and Caleb came running back and went straight into their parents' arms.

"Did you have fun, Little Monkey?" Kai Xin asked as she handed her daughter her little sippy cup that was filled with water. Her daughter's version of dancing was basically bobbing her head up and down and jumping around. The little girl was panting as she leaned against her mother.

While drinking from her sippy cup, Little Monkey nodded. "Carrot is fun!"
