Chapter 140 - Du Mansion Party (6)

The contracts with the companies of Mrs. Wen and Patricia Lee's husbands did not bring much profit to Du Conglomerate. They were contracted because of the request of an old director of Du Conglomerate. Since it wasn't necessarily a bad thing to contract with them, DX agreed to it on account that the contracts were to be short-term contracts.

It had been almost two years since they signed the contracts with the companies.

Since DX never wanted to renew the contract with them, this would be a great excuse to use to end the contracts without having to deal with the old director who introduced those two companies.

Once Han Ye was done saying what he wanted to say, he stood up straight and adjusted his coat before he gave them his usual polite smile, "If you will excuse me now, I have to look for my secretary."

He then turned and walked away with Angela Zhang following behind him with a frown.

She did not understand how that poor woman could keep getting Han Ye's attention. While pouting, she thought to herself, "I must get rid of her..."

Han Ye did not go to find Xiao Lei immediately. Instead, he stopped where Kai Xin and the Nakamura sisters were sitting.

"Enjoying the scene?" he asked with a brow raised.

The Nakamura sisters were sipping orange juice while pretending not to understand him. Meanwhile, Kai Xin was eating salted popcorn from a small red and white box while nodding.

"Yeah... Until a man came and disturbed my show." Kai Xin sighed as she popped another popcorn into her mouth. "You know, I've been stuck in this house for sooooooo many weeks. I need some real-life entertainment... Gosh, I can't wait to go back to my old job!"

"My secretary's life is not for your amus.e.m.e.nt."

"Oops... I must have been affected by the baby," Kai Xin said somewhat unapologetically. She then chuckled and waved her hand nonchalantly. "Go after her. No matter what, you're her boss now. You should protect your employees like what my husband did for you."

Han Ye nodded. He then turned to Angela Zhang and introduced them to each other, "This is Madam President Du, and Naomi and Rin Nakamura. This is Angela Zhang... my... erm... friend."

Angela Zhang smiled sweetly as she nodded at them. "Hi, I'm Angela Zhang."

"Ohhh... That Angela Zhang! Finally! We've been waiting for you!" Kai Xin said with a smile. She then patted at a seat next to her and said, "Please sit. I'm too big to walk around much, and it's easier to talk when you're sitting down."

Angela Zhang nodded and sat next to Kai Xin.

"I'll be right back," Han Ye said as he absentmindedly placed a kiss on top of Angela Zhang's head. He was worried that Xiao Lei might have gotten into another trouble somewhere in the last 5 minutes.

"Go go! Don't come back so soon." Kai Xin laughed as she waved at him. "We'll take care of her."

Han Ye took one last glance at Angela Zhang before he went into the mansion and asked everyone he met if they had seen a woman dressed in black and "possibly crying" running around. However, no one seemed to have seen Xiao Lei.

He even asked the guards who were guarding the stairs, but they did not see her.

"She ran around the back."

Han Ye turned around and saw DX walking on top of the stairs. The latter then walked down toward Han Ye with Little Monkey in his arms.

"President Du," Han Ye greeted when DX was standing right in front of him. He then took Little Monkey's hand and shook it. "You're looking prettier by the day, young lady."

Little Monkey chuckled, and she tried to reach for Han Ye, but DX pulled her back. When she looked at her father with a disapproving glance, her father ignored her.

"If you're looking for your woman, then she ran around the back. The way she was running looked as if she were avoiding someone... Also," DX frowned slightly as he said, "she was holding a turkey leg with her, so you don't have to worry about her getting hungry."

"Turkey leg?" Han Ye sighed. "That sounds like her. But she's not my woman."

"Then why are you looking for her?"

"She's my secretary. I'm just looking out for her."

"You've been my personal assistant for years, but I still won't be bothered to look for you if you were to run out like a little baby," DX said with a smirk. Placing a hand on Han Ye's shoulder, he said, "Think about whether she's suitable to be your secretary... I know I gave you free rein to decide who to hire for your secretary, but if she can't behave better, then she's not suitable for Du Corporation."

DX then walked away. Looking over her father's shoulder, Little Monkey gave Han Ye a thumbs-up. "Good luck!"

Han Ye stared at DX's back while feeling confused. "She's not my woman... She's a liar who likes to bully me..." he thought as he walked the other way to continue looking for her. "Who runs around upset and still have time to get a turkey leg!"

....

Xiao Lei did not want to bump into her son, so she ran to the back of the mansion instead of going into the mansion. She just wanted to find a place quiet enough for her to gather her thoughts, but there were people walking around, and no matter where she walked to, there were always a person or two walking about.

"This f*cking huge mansion!" she groaned while limping around. When running away in anger earlier, she accidentally sprained her left ankle, but she kept moving forward because of her anger. Now that she had calmed down slightly, the pain was getting to her.

In the end, she sat at a small lonely pavilion where a single guard was guarding nearby. She was about to bite into the turkey leg when she felt bad looking at the guard who had to guard here by himself.

"Do you want some turkey?" she asked the guard while holding up the roasted turkey leg in one hand.

"No, thank you," said the guard before returning to his previous position.

Xiao Lei sat there quietly nibbling her turkey leg while thinking about earlier.

"He thought that I did it..." she thought sadly before she ripped a piece of the turkey leg with her teeth. "A*shole! Jerk! Now that he's rich, he's looking down on me as well!"

She was mumbling curses for a long time until she heard someone walking near her. Looking up, she saw that it was Han Ye. Still angry about earlier, she threw the leftover bone at Han Ye, who dodged it by stepping aside.

Han Ye stopped. He glanced at the bone that landed on the ground behind him before walking toward her. When he was standing in front of her, he said with a tired voice, "We need to get you a rule book for you to fill in. One of the rules would be: Don't throw turkey bones at your boss."

"F*ck off!" she snarled and turned away from him.

"And 'don't tell your boss to f*ck off'."

"You!" She glared at him for a few seconds before turning away. She then hit the round stone pavilion table with her fist and snapped, "You think that they are right, that I'm a thief! Just because I'm poor!"

He sighed and pinched his glabella as he explained, "I didn't think that! I didn't want things to get worse, that was why I stopped you. I've never thought of you as a thief."

"Yes, you did! I can hear it in your voice earlier!"

He groaned and looked at her with a stern expression. "All I did was to tell you to stop talking, and you bit me!"

"You deserved it!"

"No, I didn't, and don't put words into my mouth," Han Ye said with a serious expression as he sat down opposite her. "I know that you're innocent."

She turned around to face him and snapped, "Then why didn't you let me say something?"

He sighed and looked at her in the eyes as he said, "Because the things that would come out of your mouth would most likely be bad words."
