Chapter 87 - They should be done soon

At Du Mansion, the atmosphere there was more lively than usual. The babies and the toddlers played together under their parents' supervision, while the a.d.u.l.ts took this opportunity to hang out with other non-work-related a.d.u.l.ts.

"Urgh... Finally..." Ki Hong complained while he placed his head down on his wife's shoulder as they rested at the couch in the living room.

His daughter, Ki Rin, who was born not long after Little Monkey, had been crying the entire journey to Du Mansion because his wife, Rin Nakamura, refused to give in to her demands.

Their daughter wanted a gummy candy, but Rin Nakamura refused to budge because Ki Rin had some chocolate earlier.

When he asked her to give up so that his ears could have a rest, she had glared at him. That was the end of his plea. Unfortunately for him, his daughter was like his younger sister: stubborn to a fault.

Thankfully, Ki Rin was slightly afraid of Little Monkey, who frowned when she saw her younger cousin screaming her lungs off while she tried to wriggle out of her father's arms.

Little Monkey had enough of the screams. The moment she pointed a finger at Ki Rin and said "No more cry", the little toddler immediately quieted down. Ki Rin then sniffled as she held Little Monkey's hand.

The toddlers played in the living room with the a.d.u.l.ts for a while before they got bored.

They then went to Little Monkey's playroom with Mo Shaoyun's son, Mo Yuan, while Jane and Kai Xin went with them to look after them. As a dutiful husband and father, Du XiAn was of course in the playroom with his wife and daughter instead of hanging out with the rest of the a.d.u.l.ts.

After the kids left, Rin Nakamura laughed softly as she patted her husband's hand.

"It's only an hour of her shouting... Shouldn't you be used to it by now?" Rin Nakamura teased. Her answer came in a painful groan.

Ki Hong sat up straight and sighed. "She's so cute, but she's so scary whenever she cries her little lungs out..."

"Better to be strict now when she's young. If you wait until she's older, you're going to find it harder to be strict..." Old Madam Du said in a motherly manner before she took a sip of her tea.

They were waiting for Han Ye, Lu Ziyan, and Tian Le to arrive so that they could begin dinner. Also in the living room was An Qi Yan, Sima Erden, Lin, Callum, Luo Guangying as well as Kai Xin's brother, Kai An, and his wife, Naomi Nakamura. Everyone was dressed casually for the BBQ dinner later.

Callum and Luo Guangying was sitting close to Naomi Nakamura as they looked at her month-old son.

"His cheeks are so chubby..." Callum said as he gently flicked the baby's cheek.

"Don't, he's sleeping," Luo Guangying scolded him gently. He looked at Naomi Nakamura and Kai An before he asked, "The two of you seem tired. Do you want me to hold him while you guys rest?"

Naomi Nakamura glanced at her husband before she nodded at Luo Guangying. He was correct. They were indeed tired. Their son, Zhen Yelang, had a fever last week, and even though it broke, both of them were too worried to sleep through the night. They kept waking up in the middle of the night to check on their son.

Naomi Nakamura passed her sleeping son to Luo Guangying and said in a soft voice, "Thanks, Guangying..."

With the baby nestled in his arms, Luo Guangying stood up. He then said in a hushed tone, "I'll just walk around with him..."

He then glanced at Callum and said, "Callum, stay here. Call me when Han Ye and the rest arrive."

Callum and Naomi Nakamura nodded.

Naomi Nakamura then rested her head against her husband. She was completely tired out. Thankfully, Du Mansion had a lot of maids that could help to take care of the babies while they relaxed.

Naomi Nakamura's father, General Nakamura, believed that babies should only be raised by their own parents. Therefore, both his daughters and their spouses were told to take care of their own kids themselves instead of passing the kids to the servants.

Naomi Nakamura would take care of Zhen Yelang in the morning while Kai An worked, and when Kai An returned home at night, he would deal with Zhen Yelang's nightly demands.

Thankfully, General Nakamura did not make her or Kai An do any housework, which was not the case for her younger sister's husband. Between General Nakamura's two sons-in-law, it was obvious who was his least favorite.

Every now and then, whenever he got annoyed with Ki Hong, General Nakamura would reallocate the maids and make Ki Hong do all the housework... which was horrible given the size of the mansion they lived in.

Unfortunately for Ki Hong, that was the punishment that he had to accept for impregnating Rin Nakamura out of wedlock.

"Ah, firstborn child... I remember when I just gave birth to XiAn. I was constantly worried over him that I could barely get any sleep the first year..." Old Madam Du said with a fond voice.

Ki Hong agreed with her. When Ki Rin was just a baby, he and his wife were constantly thinking about Ki Rin and whether or not she was uncomfortable. Even at night, when they were sleeping, they would be worried if Ki Rin would be looking for them at night, so they would always check on her whenever they woke up in the middle of the night.

Both Ki Hong and Kai An looked so tired that their wives could not help but chuckle among themselves. They were glad that they married hands-on husbands. Otherwise, they would be the one who looked tired.

An Qi Yan laughed at her son, Kai An, and said, "You! You gave me much more trouble than this... Not as much as your sister, but still! I'm glad you know how it's like now."

Kai An stuck a tongue out at his mother before he turned to his wife when he heard her yawn softly. With a hand placed on her back, he whispered, "Take a short nap first, Naomi... I'll wake you up for dinner later..."

Naomi Nakamura nodded. She would rather take a short nap now than fall asleep during dinner. After placing a quick kiss on her husband's cheek, she followed a butler to one of the ground floor guest room.

"Wait for me..." Rin Nakamura called out before she ran after her older sister, completely ignoring the sad expression on her husband's face.

"Damn, my pillow left me..." Ki Hong murmured as he leaned back against the couch.

An Qi Yan glanced at Lin, who was sitting on the floor as she played chess with Sima Erden quietly, and asked, "Lin, how's Guangying when he was a baby?"

Lin thought for a moment before she said with a smile, "Adorable... Music always calms him down, and he doesn't cry much."

"Why everyone's kids were much calmer than mine?" An Qi Yan sighed. Both her kids used to cry the roof off almost every night when they were babies. She looked at her son and said with an evil smile, "It's your turn to lose sleep now, kid..."

Kai An groaned, and he picked up his can of beer. Ki Hong could only look on with a jealous expression, but he could not drink. It was his own fault really. He lost in rock-paper-scissors and had to be the designated driver for tonight.

Kai An smirked and wriggled his eyebrows as he lifted the can of beer in front of Ki Hong teasingly.

Ki Hong growled and pushed his hand away. He then looked at Old Madam Du and asked, "Where are the twins? I haven't seen them since we arrived earlier."

"Basketball court. They are having a match now," Old Madam Du said with a smile. She looked at her watch before she said, "They should be done soon."
