Chapter 71 - There was no sign of her

"Their daughter? There was no body of a child... and the policemen there had combed the area… They even went to the villa they were staying in. There was no sign of her. Maybe she's on the way back with a driver?" Qing Hai said as he tried to recall the news earlier.

Han Ye frowned. He thought for a while before saying, "Impossible. They went there for a family holiday."

Looking at Little Han Ye's worried face, Qing Hai thought for a moment before he said, "Let me make a call…"

He then went behind his desk and called his friend that was working at the police department near the scene.

"Brother Wu, can you help me check for something? President Fan's accident. Is his little daughter in the car?... Yeah, yeah… There's no sign of her? And your team looked around the place as well?"

Qing Hai glanced at Little Han Ye before he shook his head sympathetically.

Little Han Ye threw the towel onto the bench and went over to grab the phone. "Sir, this is Han Ye. I'm Wushuang's friend. Are you sure she's not there? It's impossible. It's a family trip and there's only three of them. Wushuang said that even the servants were sent back at 3 p.m. every day. Sir, President Fan Lei would never leave her."

Wu Hai frowned. He looked at the phone for a second before placing it back against his ear. "Han Ye is it? We have combed through the surrounding areas, but we didn't find anyone."

"Then you must have missed her. Please send someone to find her! Send the dogs! I'm sure she's still nearby!"

Qing Hai frowned and took the phone away from Han Ye. "You can't talk to him like that! He's a higher rank officer than me!"

He then placed the phone against his ear and said, "I'm sorry about that, Brother Wu. He's still a kid… Yeah, I'll tell him that."

Han Ye was extremely angry that no one took him seriously, and he started to yell, "Send someone to go out and look for her again! Bring your dogs! IF SHE'S THERE, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO FIND HER WITHOUT DOGS!"

One of Qing Hai's colleagues could not stand the noise, and he immediately pulled Han Ye back. As he dragged him out of the police station, Han Ye yelled, "SHE'S VERY GOOD AT HIDING! BRING YOUR DOGS! SHE'S STILL THERE!"

As much as he was angry at her, Han Ye did not want her to get hurt. He figured that there were only two possibilities. One, if this was not an accident, then she might have been taken away by someone. Two, she was hurt and lay injured somewhere. Three… During the accident, she might have been thrown out of the car somehow.

Qing Hai's colleague threw Little Han Ye out on the street before he threatened him by saying, "Come in again and see if I would let you go unharmed!"

He raised his arm as a gesture, and when Little Han Ye dodged out of instinct, the man smirked before he went into the police station and locked the door.

Little Han Ye did not give up. He kept yelling, "Qing Hai! Big Brother Qing Hai! Please! Please tell them to send someone!"

Little Han Ye did not know why, but he started crying as he pounded on the door. The rain was still pouring and he was cold, but he did not leave. He kept begging Qing Hai to help him.

When no one opened the door, Little Han Ye gave the door one last pound before he down at the stairs. With only a small roof to cover him, it did not take long before he was drenched again.

"Wushuang..." Little Han Ye thought worriedly about the little girl. He then clenched his fists as he said softly, "Please be alright... I won't be mad at you anymore if you come back. I'll even let you hit me..."

About 20 minutes later, Qing Hai came out. When he saw Han Ye, he sighed and said, "Brother Wu called back earlier. I think your words made him uneasy. He said he would be sending another team out this time and that they would be bringing the hounds as well."

The moment Little Han Ye heard this piece of news, he grabbed Qing Hai's pants and looked up at him with gratitude in his eyes, "Really?"

When Qing Hai nodded, Little Han Ye finally sighed in relief and released the man's pants. "Thank you, Big Brother Qing Hai."

Qing Hai then stood aside and said, "Come in now. I've called your mum, and she said she would be coming over immediately. No more shouting or I won't be able to help you. This is not a place for you to act like a child."

"I'm sorry..." Little Han Ye nodded as he apologized for his behavior earlier. He then went into the police station.

The policeman who threw him up stood up and walked toward him menacingly as he snarled, "You little brat! I told you not to come in again, right?!"

Qing Hai, who came in behind Little Han Ye, glared at the man as he snapped, "Stop that! He's still a kid!"

"Still playing with little kids, no wonder you didn't get the promotion," the man said with a sneer.

"Aren't you the same? At least, I'm still younger than you..." Qing Hai retorted. While their other colleagues laughed at his reply, Qing Hai said to Han Ye, "You can sit at my seat for now. I'll get you another towel."

Han Ye nodded. As he walked to Qing Hai's seat with the man himself, he said, "I'm sorry if I was rude earlier."

Qing Hai patted Little Han Ye's head and said, "It's fine. I know you're worried about your friend. I hope you're right and that she survives... But... she might not be the same little girl you know."

Little Han Ye nodded.

In addition to the towel, Qing Hai also gave his spare shirt to Little Han Ye. Even though the shirt was a little bit big, at least it was better than having the kid wore his wet shirt while he waited for his mother.

As for Little Han Ye's pants, it was currently being air-dried in front of the fan. Thankfully, the shirt was big enough to reach the mid of his thighs. Still, he was embarrassed by his n.a.k.e.d legs, so he covered his legs with some old newspaper.

Once he dried his hair, Little Han Ye sat quietly at Qing Hai's desk while the man sat somewhere else.

Little Han Ye was watching the news on TV as he waited for his mother to arrive.

About 30 minutes later, Little Han Ye's mother finally arrived at the police station. When he saw her, he immediately ran over to her, completely forgotten about the fact that his legs were exposed.

"Mum!" he called out as he hugged his mother.
