Chapter 379 - Your Father is Alive

Lu Fang immediately called his father to give the news. Lu Wei was at the company when he received the call from his son. Despite handing over the enterprise to Lu Fang, he still had his own office in the building as he often co-managed the business from time to time.

He was sitting on his chair, covering his face with his palm. When the information sank in, Lu Wei slowly got up to face the glass windows and looked past the structure in front. Along with the revelation, his heart nearly stopped beating.

His hands formed into a fist, telling himself, "This was our fault… If I had taken action a long time ago… maybe - maybe no one would have gotten hurt."

From outside his office, the employees heard crisp sounds of smashing glass and solid objects thrown against the door.

The disturbance from the former president's office immediately reached Gao Rou's ears when one of the managers reported to him. He quickly made his way to Lu Wei's office. He knocked on the door a few times, but there was no answer.

When Gao Rou could no longer take it. He pushed the door open with his foot, and there he saw Lu Wei, sitting behind his desk, slamming his hand against the table repeatedly.

The office was a complete mess; drinking glasses on the floor and even Christina's favorite vase was shattered into pieces.

"Sir!" He called as he ran to his side, holding his arm.

Seeing Gao Rou, Lu Wei paled. He kept hearing him call his attention. He thought Gao Rou has always been so formal. Even after living with them for so many years. He never once called him uncle. 'If he ever finds out… would he still stay by our side?'

He abruptly held Gao Rou's arms with both his hands. His eyes fixed on him. Weakly, he called his name, "Gao - Gao Rou…."

Gao Rou was utterly puzzled, at the same time, he was in anguish, seeing Lu Wei, seemingly in misery. He wondered what caused him to lose his temper.

Suddenly, Lu Wei was down on the floor and begging for his forgiveness. "I'm sorry, Gao Rou -  I am sorry. Will you - will you ever forgive me… forgive our family?"

Gao Rou went down on his knees to level with him before saying, "Sir? I'm  - I'm not sure what you - "

Before he could say more, Lu Wei hugged him tightly. He was embraced so strongly that he could barely breathe. He realized it was a serious matter.

Lu Wei let go after a few seconds and got up slowly before turning his back on Gao Rou. He then heard him say, "Sir, whatever it is… Though, I doubt if you would ever hurt me on purpose… but whatever it is, you must not have meant for it to happened… I - I would never leave the Lu Family."

He gave several nods before taking a deep breath. He walked to the direction of the sofas and said, "Gao Rou, your  - your father is alive."

"What? Sir, what is this about?" Gao Rou asked, thinking Lu Wei may have been confused. "My father has been dead for a very long time."

"I know… That was what we all believed… but, Gao Rou…your father is... apparently alive," said Lu Wei while taking a seat on a couch. "Please… Please sit next to me, boy, and let me tell you what happened."

Lu Wei eventually told Gao Rou what Lu Fang had been investigating over the past week… and the result of the DNA test. As he narrated the story, he witnessed Gao Rou giving mix expressions of anger and doubt.

"We are sorry… we kept it from you because - because we wanted to be sure beforehand… We did not want to raise false expectations and hopes," explained Lu Wei.

He remained to stare at Gao Rou for minutes, waiting for his reaction. He then saw anger filled his eyes, but there were no words that came out of his mouth.

"Gao Rou, I'm sorry… I'm sorry for not having seen this… I'm sorry that your father got involved in our problems  -"

Lu Wei could not continue his words, seeing Gao Rou got up from his seat. He simply heard him say, "Please… please give me a few days."

Gao Rou walked out of there, leaving Lu Wei on his own.

He was unsure of how to deal with the situation. What he knew at that very moment was how angry he was. He was furious at Rou Yanlin, who had already died. Had he known this long before, he would have beaten him to death with his own hands.

Back at the office, Lu Wei was on the phone with his men, giving instructions, "Follow Gao Rou. Make sure he does not hurt himself. I'll contact Deana to catch up with you… Make sure you do not lose him."

Gao Rou had been driving for two hours, with no direction. He was contemplating while on the road, but soon he realized he needed to let his anger out to the one person who was responsible for all their agony. He drove to the cemetery where they had buried Yanlin's remains.

Despite being a scum, the Lus still cremated his body and gave him a proper burial. His mind kept thinking how undeserving Yanlin was.

Pulling out of the driveway, he parked his car in front of the cemetery. He saw the clouds dimmed, but he did not care. Shortly, the rain poured down, but despite getting soaked, he found his way to Rou Yanlin's ashes.

He gritted his teeth as his hands clenched into fists. He started kicking his foot at  Yanlin's grave. Soon, he thrust his fists alternately into the concrete where Yanlin's name was carved, not feeling any pain, his hands immediately bruised.

"Ahhh! Ahhh! Son of a bitch! I will find you in hell!"

"You hear me! Yanlin! I will find you!"

"Rou!" He was about to throw another punch when he heard Deana behind him. He turned to find his girlfriend soaked in the rain. He continued to hear her cry, "Stop it! Stop."

Deana ran to hug him tightly. "Stop it! Stop hurting yourself." She then placed both her hands to his face and kissed him all over his face. "I love you, Rou… I love you."

She hugged him again, almost feeling the throbbing of his heart. She cried for him, but the tears were nothing compared to the pouring rain. "I love you. I love you so much… I know you are in pain - but on the bright side, your father is not dead."

"Rou! Hear me, please… Please… I love you."

Eventually, Gao Rou shed tears. He has not cried since his mother's death. He hugged Deana back and soon fell to the ground with her.

With both of them on their knees, Deana gently pulled back and pressed her face against his, saying, "Shhh… Rou… Rou… I love you so much… You don't have to hurt by yourself… Share to me your pain…"
