Chapter 359 - Can We

Andrea had experienced no symptoms of the Kimya Disease in recent weeks and thus;  she did not get any additional infusion of the immunoglobulin.

The couple hoped that Andrea's immune system was already fighting it off. Still, they continued to monitor her electrolytes on a weekly basis.

Landon told them that the manifestations would disappear immediately within three to four weeks of pregnancy and all women that Michael Song had studied showed no signs of the disease recurring after giving birth.

The couple was happy to go back to their busy lives and looked forward to taking care of their new baby. However, just in case they needed help or more information about the illness; they remained in touch with Landon even after he returned to the US for recuperation.

Andrea and Lu Fang were off to the hospital for a check-up with Doctor Qi. More than a month had already passed since her last visit. Her next prenatal was supposed to be due four days back, but their busy schedule got in the way.

At first, Andrea tried to convince the man that she can have her check-up with Christina or aunt Rosa. It worried her that her husband had to take a few hours away from the office when Bolin was on vacation. She can only imagine the amount of piled work for just half a day of absence.

Despite Andrea expressing her concern, the man insisted on joining. "Babe, I need to take care of my wife… and I have a very important health concerning question to ask her."

There was no point in arguing with him, he was determined to come along.

While being driven by Juan, Lu Fang took the opportunity to discuss the applicants for his new assistant.

"Babe, I am really torn which one to take. Character wise, I think Ho Ghozi is the better choice, though, I'd feel slightly guilty if I don't take Lanying," said Lu Fang as he gave a sneer at the thought  before adding, "She is a daughter of father's friend in college."

"Oh, so you know her?" Andrea asked while massaging her face. She was so sleepy, she was doing everything she could to get through the conversation.

"Yes, she was uncle Chi's only daughter," responded Lu Fang.

He went on and on explaining the relation between Lu Wei and Chi Zhong, but Andrea could barely focus. She merely blurted out without giving it much thought, "Just… hire them both."

She yawned before completely dozing off during their journey.

Lately, Andrea was constantly sleeping and a few times she'd get angry without reason. The worst part was her vomiting seem to be getting worse than the last weeks. In recent days, she stayed in bed more often. Even while in the office, she often rested in the private room. She could only blame her changing hormones.

When they arrive at the ultrasound room, the doctor was already there, waiting for them. Andrea quickly changed into the hospital gown got in position, laying herself on the bed.

"Let's see how is our baby doing," said Dr. Qi before looking at the monitor. "The uterus is already doing fine. The lining has thickened, so the baby is very safe."

The man let out a sigh of relief and asked, "So, doctor. Very important - we can already do it? Can we?"

The doctor stared blankly at Lu Fang for seconds before she realized what he meant. She laughed thoroughly before answering, "Yes with caution and extra care."

Lu Fang was all beaming upon hearing the news while Andrea rolled her eyes, realizing what his very important health question was.

The couple looked at the screen to see after Dr. Qi pointed out, "Here it is. This is the head of the baby… and the heartbeat, let's check it…"

After detecting the fetus' heartbeat, Dr. Qi exclaimed, "Beautiful!

The couple was smiling, seeing the screen and hearing Dr. Qi describing the baby.

"Let me just measure the baby… and yep, it is, in fact, eight weeks old so seven more months to go!"

"Yey, haha. Seven months of getting my ass fat," said Andrea while giggling at her predicament.

Dr. Qi made a follow-up on the disease that Andrea caught and was glad to learn she had been doing well. Just as she was about to end their consultation, she noticed a mass in Andrea's uterus. She did not see it immediately since she focused on the fetus.

Seeing her doctor lingered on the screen, Andrea studied the doctor's serious expression. She had to ask, "Is there anything wrong, doctor?"

"Well, I am not sure… just yet… There is a mass, but - "

Doctor Qi cut herself off and continued to analyze the screen. After minutes, she turned to the couple and said, "Let's just observe this for now. I - I can't confirm what it is just yet. I'll take a recording of the scan and check with our department head."

The doctor's words remained mysterious to the couple that they became worried. It concerned Lu Fang that he asked, "Is it a problem, doctor? Maybe it's best for Andy to stay in the hospital while you find out."

Andrea immediately frowned at him. She grabbed his arm forcefully before scolding, "How dare you! I don't ever want to go back to the hospital. It's so difficult to be away from the kids."

"There is no need. For now, don't fret and take care of the pregnancy. When I hear from our head, I will let you know," said Dr. Qi with assurance.

The truth was, it was Dr. Qi's first time to see such a scan. She would rather seek a second opinion or even a third to consider her suspicion, but while it is not yet certain, Dr. Qi simply reminded the couple to take good rest and eat healthily.

After Andrea got dressed, the man was both disturbed and puzzled. He was worried about the doctor's hesitation on the ultrasound and at the same time, he was concerned about his personal health. He paused for a second before asking the doctor again, "But, doc. In spite of what you had found out… can we still do it?"

"Lu Fang? I can't believe you'd ask when there is a pending concern, " said Andrea.

She turned to the doctor with a miserable face and apologized, "I am sorry, doctor. You must think we are such a perverted couple - "

"It's all right, Andrea. Trust me, I've heard a lot more disturbing questions. You both are just acting like a normal loving couple," Dr. Qi calmly explained.

"Ahhaha! Well, in that case, doc... Can we?" It was now Andrea who made the clarification.
