Chapter 214 - I Will Never Give Up

Lu Fang, Hanxi and Han-joon rented a speedboat, searching in the areas where Andrea might have drifted off to. They also rented pieces of diving equipment and went searching under the water, but they did not find her.

The island's rescue team was of no help. It seemed like they purposely delayed their aid. It took half a day for Alfred's contacts to arrive at Ushant Island. It was only then when the search party grew in number. They sought day and night, starting within the location where Andrea had fallen then to the nearby shores.

Lu Wei and Christina reported to Alfred and Li Wen the recent turn of events pertaining to Andrea. Han-joon was the one who revealed to Yeong. Li Wen wanted to fly to the island as soon as she heard, but Yeong objected saying that it may be the work of Project Zero's organizers. It was best that she remained hidden from them.

Alfred arrived on the second day of the search. He brought more men with him to widen the pursuit. They even resorted to knocking on the resident's doors, asking if they may have seen a woman with Andrea's description but to no avail.

Three days had passed and everyone was still at Ushant Island, trying to figure out how they can move forward. Lu Fang stood firm on searching for his wife. He would not accept the possibility that she may have left this world.

He was devastated and had not slept since that day. Christina tried to comfort her son to sleep, but the man only took an hour of rest in every chance he got. The same could be said for Hanxi, who was feeling responsible than ever for not having allowed Lu Fang to jump off the cliff.

On the day Andrea went missing, they studied the cliff as soon as the sun started to come out. They realized his sister had fallen directly into the water. The surrounding areas were mostly rocks and boulders. It was such a coincidence that she fell on that very spot where the water was deep, clear of any earth or stones.

Yeong left Korea to help Lu Fang find his sister, and as he was still on the plane, he studied carefully from the sky,  the neighboring islands of Ushant. The moment his plane landed, he asked Li Wen to look into the other islands.

Yeong arrived at docks where Lu Fang had been taking shelter in one of the boats together with Hanxi and Han-joon. He found his brother-in-law turned into a complete wreck. He started to grow his beard, his eyes had dark circles around them and his body had lost an incredible amount of weight in just a few days.

The man was currently preparing for another dive when Yeong spoke to him, "If you die of starvation, you won't be of any help."

Lu Fang looked up to him in anguish. He replied back defensively, "Do I deserve to eat and feel comfortable not knowing where or what had happened to my wife?"

"You are forgetting you also have babies to look after," Yeong's only response.

"How can you be so calm about this?" Lu Fang asked.

"I am also suffering Lu Fang, but killing ourselves will only add to the problem," Yeong said as he took a seat next to him then handed an energy bar. "At least get some of these if you really can't stomach a whole meal."

"The twins need somebody. I heard that General Lei and his wife had been visiting and taking care of them. Do you want your children to recognize them as parents more than you? Have your parents head home immediately. You and me both, let's find out the truth of what happened that night… together… as brothers, let's find Andy."

Lu Fang wiped the tear that fell on his cheek. He rubbed his eyes, trying to prevent more from flowing further and let out a heavy sigh before finally acknowledging, "Okay. Thank you, brother."

Lu Fang left Yeong to speak to his parents and Alfred. They have been staying in the same Bed and Breakfast lodge in the middle of the island. They often heard from the man at night. Thus, they were caught off guard by his unscheduled return.

Lu Fang saw his mother completely devastated when he entered the lodge. She was whimpering in tears, wrapped in Lu Wei's arms as all three sat in the living area. For days Christina had shown a strong facade in front of her son. Apparently, she was hurting and had been crying herself to sleep.

"Mother, I refuse to believe that Andy is gone. Every bone in my body is telling me to look for her. I will never give up on her the same way I know she would never give up on me," Lu Fang declared, but while his words were headstrong, he too could not help but cry out his pain.

Christina rushed to hug her son and together, they both sobbed unceasingly. Lu Fang felt the pain came in waves. As his chest tightened, he embraced his mother back, and they both tumbled to the floor, kneeling down.

Seeing his sister and his nephew weep in agony, Alfred too started to cry. He felt even more accountable considering it was his wife that brought Andrea to this island. He came forward to embrace them both and as he comforted them, he said, "It's okay, Lu Fang. It's okay to cry it out. It doesn't make us weak… It only proves how much you love Andy… We are in this together as a family."

Lu Wei's heart ached for his son. How much he wanted to cry with them, but he needed to be their strength during these times. "Hush now," he said as he approached. He then rubbed Christina's back and reminded her, "Lu Fang is right, we all need to be strong and not give up."

Christina and Lu Wei left that very same day. Their plans to learn the businesses of the Davies Group of Companies will have to be done another time.

Alfred, on the other hand, remained on the island, hoping to help Lu Fang find his daughter. Although the possibility of Andrea dying crossed his mind, he remembered his daughter to be a strong-willed woman. She would not die that easily. He would only believe it if he sees her lifeless body in front of him.
