Chapter 158 - Sleeping

The Davies' mansion has not been a pleasant dwelling over the preceding month that Gabriel rarely came home. Often times, he would stay in a hotel or at the Davies' secret facility.

His parents have been arguing about his newly found aunt, Christina Davies Lu. Nancy did not want to share the wealth with Christina and she refused to acknowledge her even if it was not her decision to make.

While attending a meeting at the office, he saw his father's phone ringing. Alfred was busy facilitating the meeting, and he left his mobile with his son.

Gabriel answered as it was an important call. "Hello Andy, how are the babies coming along?"

Everyone in the conference room was in silence. Never had they seen their Young Master Davies interrupt a meeting. Some made whispers having known Andrea in the past.

"He is talking to his ex-fiance, Andrea."

"They probably got back together."

"He looks so happy."

"So Andrea is pregnant. That's probably the reason I haven't seen Taya."

While their executives were gossiping, Gabriel continued to talk to Andrea adoringly. He was happy to hear her voice. Even if her happiness was not meant for him, he was starting to feel less pain every day as he accepted his fate.

"I'm glad to hear you are feeling better, Andy. Let me pass on the phone to Dad."

Alfred and Andrea chatted for nearly a minute before ending their conversation. They agreed to meet in Beijing the following week, just in time for her next ultrasound.

Gabriel also decided he would tag along and informed Andrea the same. He wanted to evade his mother and his ex-fiance. Taya came to his office many times since their break-up, trying to convince him back. It was becoming more annoying that he would stay at his father's office just to avoid being caught by surprise.

After their meeting, the news made its way to the other employees and to the spies of Nancy Davies. She immediately implanted more moles on Alfred's side so she can learn about his movements and when he planned to visit Beijing.

Both Alfred had already disclosed to Nancy that Andrea had nothing to do with Gabriel and Taya. She was also made aware of Andrea's relationship with Christina, but she would not believe. Her mind revolved around the conclusion that everything was plotted by Andrea to get revenge, take the Davies' wealth, and get back with Gabriel.

Hearing the gossip, it confirmed her suspicion even more. She thought, 'Somehow, Andrea had seduced her son to bed and now Gabriel was forced to break-off his engagement with Taya.'

Without delay, she colluded with Taya and her family. The moment she found out of Alfred's flight to Beijing, she also made plans for both her and Taya to leave for China. Her goal was to have Andrea get an abortion and have Christina give up her inheritance.

Time flew faster than expected now that Andrea was able to eat well and rarely threw up. In fact, she has been coming to Lu Fang's office for about two weeks. Her belly was about to turn four months. A week from now, they would find out the babies' gender and they were excited about it.

The couple agreed they would leave for Korea after Alfred's visit. Thus, Arti, Andrea's new assistant made the necessary arrangements including a summary of Lu Fang's endorsement to Xia Yanmei. This got Arti confused as she was supposed to be Andrea's assistant and not her husband's.

She came up to Go Bolin to ask, "Why do I get the feeling that they are confusing who's assistant am I?"

"I hope you are not complaining because it's bound to happen. You have no idea how many favors I have done for the lady boss," he said with his eyes narrowed, looking directly at Arti. "It's time you pay me back."

He narrated everything that he has done including the recent grocery shopping he made for Andrea and the shocking hunt for star apples. Afterward, he went back to his work but before ending the talk he added, "Besides, I'm sure Mrs. Lu pays you well, so all you have to do is follow orders."

Arti nodded realizing her mistake. Andrea had treated her well and even pre-paid her apartment for a year as part of her relocation package. Now, she can travel to wherever they go, all-expense paid. There was no room for making protests.

After receiving practical advice, Arti worked diligently without question and even helped Go Bolin with his tasks. The two quickly became good friends in a week's time and it was evident with the smiles and glances they gave each other.

When Lu Fang was available, he had his training with Han-joon. Occasionally, Xio Hanxi would join during fights but later found out that the man was stronger than anticipated. Most often than not, Lu Fang would beat him with powerful punches that he would back off instantly, scared to damage his handsome face.

Their mansion's backyard turned into a target range. Hanxi and Han-joon prepared several target boards, one side for bullets and the other side for knives. Twice, they went to the lake house and used pellet guns for Lu Fang to practice shooting on a moving target.

Andrea would coach her man during drills, but usually, the three would find her asleep somewhere. Regardless if it was a sofa, a bench or while inside the car, so long as she was comfortable, she found herself asleep with no effort.

Lu Fang was a bit dismayed. It had almost been two months that they were contained inside their home and at the hospital. He expected more quality time with his wife and go out on a date, but it turned out, his biggest competitor was her uncontrollable snoozing.

Once, they scheduled a movie night, but after tucking her in his arms, she slept soundly in minutes.

In almost every drive to the office, she consumed the time, dozing in the front seat.

A friend invited them to dinner last week and just as they were getting ready to leave, he could not locate her. It took almost fifteen minutes for him to find her in the walk-in closet, sleeping. They ended up not going.

During those times he felt, he was the loneliest husband in the world. So taking his mind off the sadness, he initiated more practice with Han-joon and Hanxi or kept himself busy with work.
