Chapter 154 - The End of You

"Mr. Rou, we need to leave now before we get noticed."

The men who assisted him where dressed in security uniform playing roles of those on an actual bank retrieval operation. A pretend bank teller also came inside with a suitcase cuffed around his wrist. It was there where the documents he handed over were kept.

It was perfectly planned. It even gave them an excuse to carry weapons. Yanlin though his new ally was very competent.

Aside from the supposed cashier, one other armed man was with them inside the vehicle. Two occupied the front seats. He no longer brought his servants as they did not allow him to.

An hour passed and not a word was said. Curiosity got to Yanlin. "What grudges does your boss have against the Lu Family, he was willing enough to help me."

The man in front of him looked up and Yanlin found his face familiar.

"Have I seen you somewhere?"

"Probably. I once experimented into showbiz," the man's only response as he scratched his chin showing the bandage on his hand.

"Huh... What a shift in the profession -"

"It's not really of your business, old man. For your information, I don't meddle with my boss' business as well."

"Well, if he really intends to help me with the Lus, I include all of their information in the document I gave you."

The man stared at him, narrowing his eyes, seemingly annoyed, but soon took a deep breath and said, "noted."

The trip went on for another thirty minutes in silence when finally the driver said, "We are already in Beijing."

Rou Yanlin let out a sigh, relief knowing he was miles away from the General's men yet, despite having arrived at the city, he was not left off. Instead, they drove for another hour and found themselves on a narrow road.

"Where are we headed?"

"Somewhere no one else can see us. We can't afford to have any witnesses," said the man in front of him.

Yanlin did not think much of it. The fact that they helped him escape from the General, it only meant they were fugitives themselves. He thought, ' what's the worst that could happen?'

"We are here."

The men stepped out of the vehicle while Yanlin was left to help himself. This dismayed him. He was already old and needed assistance, but what choice did he have?  The old man struggled to get out of the armored car. The moment he made it to the ground, a fist came at him making his body fall helplessly.

Turning to see who it was, his eyes grew wide in horror. It was Lu Wei and beside him were Lu Jie and Lu Fang.

"What is the meaning of this?" he demanded.

Instead of getting a response, Lu Jie came approaching with his walking stick and struck him strenuously.

"You bastard! Son of a bitch! It wasn't enough that you took my wife, you just had to trouble my family!"

Lu Jie kept at it until Yanlin's arms became badly bruised.

"Why? Why? What else did you want from my family?"

"Never! Until I die, I will never tell you the reason," instead of agonizing or crying in pain, Yanlin laughed. "Your wife left you for me! Haha!"

Yanlin kept laughing and laughing until it turned into sobs making him choke all of a sudden. He quickly cleared his throat trying to deny his tears from flowing.

Lu Jie, shook his head at his miserable attempt to hide the truth and said, "If my wife truly loved you, you would not have turned out this bitter and vengeful. I pity you, but more than anything else, I abhor you for threatening our peace when I had left you alone with my wife for so many years!"

"Here, at our den, you will receive your punishment... Prepare to live longer!"

Lu Wei supervised his retribution for an entire week. Lu Fang had suggested mental suffering instead of a beating especially since his body would give up sooner than expected, given his old age. He was kept in a dark room tied down to bed closest to the torture chamber. There he could hear the pain, cries, and worst part was silence, the silence of the unknown can make a man go crazy.

For days, Lu Wei had witnessed Rou Yanlin changed from being calm to a nervous wreck. Aside from the prisoner's cries, Lu Fang purposely sent recordings of screams and eerie noises to boost the old man's paranoia.

Another week passed and Yanlin turned psychotic. He started laughing and screaming for no reason. It did not take long for him to get a heart attack, but that was too easy for him as a death sentence. The Lus had already prepared medical equipment and support to ensure his recovery.

He suffered the same mental abuse for almost two months until he could no longer return to consciousness. He fell into a coma, but because the General promised Han Yun that Rou Yanlin's death shall be on his hands, the old man was kept on life support in a small and private hospital.

When the day finally came, Han Yun was escorted by General Lei and his men. He saw his Master lifeless laying in the hospital bed supported by various machines. He turned to the General and asked, "How was he found?"

"He allied with a new party trading client list for his escape and the continued pursuit of Lu Fang, but the Lus got to him when he found himself in Beijing. According to the Lu Family, they locked him up without injury until he fell into a coma."

"They are supporting his medical expenses."

"The Lus are too good," commented Han Yun.

"You don't understand. They kept him alive because I asked them to... Because this was your request in exchange for your cooperation. Now, let me ask you again, will dirty your hands with his death?"

He clenched his fist at the sight of the old man. Yanlin was already pathetic, yet he was the worst person he ever knew and he was disgraceful enough to serve him.

" General, let me tell you. If this man lives to see another day, he will continue to harm others... He does not deserve a chance to survive."

Han Yun turned off the ventilator and the heart monitor saying, "Rou Yanlin. This the end of you."
