Chapter 132 - Judgement Day

Mr. Chang, the man who Lu Wei remembered to have hired the Ace of Spades. Gabriel's Den tried to bring him to their side, but they failed. Yanlin's men had a good hold on him and now, he could tell they were using him against Andrea. At that point, he was seeking in silence, 'Why? Why are they now focusing on Andy when their target was his son?'

"When, where and how?" Andrea finally spoke. "Give me all the details of how we met, Mr. Chang."

The man in handcuffs began to doubt himself but before he could speak, the Commissioner interrupted saying, "we were able to trace the money transfers from your bank account to Mr. Chang's and to the hospital. You cannot deny when there is a paper trail!"

Andrea could not figure out their intention. If they wanted to put her behind bars, wouldn't the more logical action be, is for them to keep these shreds of evidence a secret until a warrant is issued?

"Excuse me for a moment, I'd like to speak with my family in private." She turned to the Chief of Police and asked, "I am not yet under arrest right? I am just here for questioning? Thus, you cannot hold me from anything I do."

He nodded in confirmation.

Starring back at the Commissioner and the Shens, Andrea said, "Don't worry, I am not going anywhere."

As if reading their thoughts, Zhi Lim accompanied them outside and told the Commissioner, "I will stay with them so to be sure that Andrea will answer to these accusations later on."

After guiding them to his office, the Chief waited outside while speaking to a few of his officers.

Meanwhile, back inside the conference room, Tu Ping harped on the Shens. "Mian, I thought you told me they did not fully trust her yet! How come Lu Wei took her side?  We need to make sure they lose trust in her for this to work. Don't you want Lu Fang to go back to you?"

"Uncle Ping, I swear!" She tried her hardest to explain based on what she had observed then. "I saw it in the way they treat her. They respected her but they did not fully accept her -"

"He said they are married!"

"He is lying!"

"We would have been invited! If not, friends of our friends would have. We would have already known!"

Shen He and Yu Qiao, Mian's mother, backed her up disclosing to the Commissioner that things would not have gone sour if only their daughter did not make a mistake of stealing Andrea's proposal. They were confident that eventually, the Lus would see Shen Mian as a better daughter-in-law than a low-earning bodyguard.

"For all we know, she faked her credentials and Rou Yanlin had planted her to work for the Lus!" Shen He said with conviction.

The Tu Ping grinned and mocked this family in secret. He thought, 'They sure are easy to trick.'

Unknown to the Shens, he had used them in an attempt to get to Lu Fang. It was he who gave them support in returning to China. He invested in their failing company so they would have a reason to come back.

True, he was Shen Mian's Godfather but their communication had died down over the years. In fact, the last he saw this goddaughter of his was when she was twelve years old. Many things had already changed yet the Shens suspected nothing.

Suddenly the door was pushed open with force. It was Lu Wei with an irked look on his face. "Show me that evidence!"

It did not take long for Lu Fang to follow. The man especially showed disappointment towards his father. "Dad, are you seriously considering this? They are probably faking it all."

When Andrea and the Chief of Police came in, Lu Wei was already handed with the documents. There he saw bank statements of an account under Andrea's name. It was a certified true copy. There were also added details showing that the same account, transmitted funds to Mr. Chang's private account and to the hospital.

He then looked up to Andrea and said, "Andy, explain this?"

Lu Wei slid the evidence to the far end of the table where she was. Andrea scanned through the papers and made a mental note of all important information she needed to get her started with a plan.

Shortly, she replied, "This is obviously fake. What kind of bank details that would not have other information on it aside from the name? Anybody could print this out and fake a bank seal."

"Though this document does not show the total amount on the account, the transactions are rather small with no telling of incoming funds from Yanlin. Surely, this account would hold a staggering amount of money for me to sustain being a spy for the former Governor."

"Let's not forget, I, supposedly, also hired other assassin groups. In fact, that last one was an international group. Their professional fees alone could not go lower than 20 Million Dollars. Practically speaking, this account should hold not less than 80 Million Dollars."

Turning to the Chief, she said, "Mr. Zhi, I've prepared copies of my personal information here for you to make a comparison. You can request for a court order to make a thorough review on that said account. I am confident that you will find this record irrelevant to me."

"I will help you get the court order," said Lu Wei. "I will make sure that it becomes available tomorrow."

"Andrea, if there is any truth to this, I can assure you. You will not go unpunished - "

"Dad! Andy would never do such a thing!"

"Because of this woman, you have learned to disrespect me!" Lu Wei thrust his fist against the table and asserted," tomorrow! Tomorrow will be the judgment day!"

Lu Wei immediately left the room without waiting for any response from his son leaving Andrea with a pained expression. She turned to Lu Fang for comfort ignoring a copy of her personal data falling under the table.

"Babe, don't worry. The truth will be revealed soon enough."

The couple left shortly after and soon the Chief of Police followed explaining that he needed to get started with the investigation.

The Commissioner remained inside the conference room as he had to make a phone call before heading out. Seeing that he was all alone, he walked to the other end of the table and bent down to pick up the piece of paper. He studied carefully the contents and smiled thinking, 'This Andrea Li doesn't seem to be that smart after all.'
