Chapter 114 - Finding Aunt a Husband

Mrs. Xia held her chin with her fist, looking straight at Lu Fang while waiting for his response. President Xia on the other hand, remained in the same post, but this time lifting his head high. The Xia couple had every intention to intimidate and instill fear hoping to sway the Lu Family with the marriage alliance.

"President Xia," Lu Fang finally spoke after almost a minute of silence, "I don't think the Xias need to gain benefits through marriage – "

"Oh, it has absolutely nothing to do with benefits. We simply want you for my dear sister," said President's Xia's wife. Her eyes have not left Lu Fang ever since the proposal.

Lu Jie was torn on the inside. He would definitely love this marriage alliance, but his previous choices for Lu Fang only turned out to be a disappointment. Besides, it's not like Andrea was a simple bodyguard. He had already learned that she was an adopted child of the Davies, owns three resort islands in the Maldives, and a shareholder of Global China. Still undecided, he opted to observe how his son and daughter-in-law would handle the circumstance.

"Now, now. It's already the 21st century. Haha. Fix marriages or marriage alliances no longer exist... May I ask, were you both married by force?" Christina inquired.

"Mrs. Lu, I understand where you are getting at with this question and the answer is no. We weren't forced into marriage, but that is not really the point here." Madame Xia's voice started to get louder, seemingly becoming impatient. "We don't have all the time in the world. Now, what is your ans – "

The sound of Lu Fang's hands slamming against the table cut her off. He was already standing up, ready to leave. "There is only one woman for me and that is my girlfriend, her name is Andrea Li. If we should become enemies then so be it!"

The other guests around them became alarmed as the voices around their table got louder and louder. It was obvious to them that the earlier friendly conversation between the Lus and the Xia couple had turned sour.

"What makes this Andrea Li so special that you would go against us?" Asked President Xia.

"You do not need to know about her. The only thing you need to know is that I will never leave her side and you cannot force me to marry someone else -"

"Is she even worthy? What is her background? I'll be sure to dig dirt on her." Madame Xia was becoming even more forceful as she said this.

"I never cared who she was from the start and your threats will not shake me."

Lu Fang had already turned his back when Christina stopped him and pulled him back to his chair. She then looked towards the Xia couple. "We support our son with his choices. More than anything else, we have grown to acknowledge and welcome Lu Fang's girlfriend to our family." She then held her son by the arm and turned back to them, "It is unfortunate that our encounter has become unpleasant, but we will not allow our son to marry someone else when he is already deeply in love."

After bridging the prolonged misunderstanding between her and Alfred, Christina could not deny Andrea's relevance to their lives. She would not also trade her for any other woman to be her daughter-in-law.

As if he could read his wife's mind, Lu Wei nodded. Andrea came to them protecting his son and have his wife reunited with her beloved brother. Everything in their life is going in the right direction. There was no point in taking another turn to an unknown future.

It was Lu Wei who stood up this time suggesting his disagreement. He tried to enlighten the Xias of their decision. "I'm very sorry but, money and power is something we can accumulate in time. However, my son's happiness is hard to find and he means everything us… He is already happy with Andy we don't intend to break them apart."

Madame Xia turned to the only Lu member who did not speak his mind, wondering about his opinion.

Lu Jie gulped at being stared at but knew he had to stay something. "Well… Since you are looking at me, I might as well give my piece... I have underestimated that child long enough… You know my grandchild's girlfriend, but as it turns out she is far worthy of being part of our family. I too, want my grandson to be happy. He is our one and only heir."

Relieved that they were all in agreement, Lu Wei motioned for Christina and Lu Fang to stand. "Now, if you will excuse us – "

Almost immediately, Mrs. Xia started to cry while a pair of hands covered her face and mouth, trying to hold down her volume. She turned to her husband who came to comfort her with his hands rubbing her shoulders and back. He then said to her, "Dear, dear now. Shhh… Are you happy?"

"Yes, I am so happy," she managed to reply despite her gasping for air. However, in as much as she wanted to give herself more time in this emotional state, she needed to address the issue at hand. She turned back to the Lus whose faces were utterly confused.

She stood up and walked to towards Lu Fang and hugged him very tightly. As she did this she continued to sob.

Lu Fang did not know what to do. He could not comprehend the actions of the Xia couple at all. He then probed further, "I'm sorry, but what is going on?"

Before she could be given a response, the Xia couple's children arrived to greet their parents.

"Kids! Come over," called Mrs. Xia. She had already released Lu Fang from the hug and instructed the children to greet the man standing in front of her, "come here and greet your uncle. He will marry your aunt soon."

"…"

"Really mom! You've finally succeeded in finding aunt a husband?" Their eldest child, Xia Jianyu excitedly asked.

"I'm sorry but there seem to be a misunderstanding. I did not agree to marry anyone from your family – "

"Haha! I'm sorry. You are just adorable. It's nice to meet you again, Lu Fang." Madame Xia extended her hand to his before saying, "I'm Li Wen."

Lu Fang, "!!!"
