Chapter 79 - Chapter 78

((( ZHIO )))

The inheritance…the wealth that was the very reason why the Zel Cantheliz was at the edge of its extinction; why my ancestors killed and got killed in return.

They wanted me to see it.

As if to make me feel guilty. To convince me to finally have my own biological heir…

I smiled bitterly at how awfully smart they were moving to corner me.

But it felt sad.

Painful.

How for once I just realized they too would die and truly leave me all alone.

"All your properties…why were you all leaving them to me?" I asked slowly.

Everything that they worked for would be mine and all of it would go to waste if I don't have an heir.

"They were yours to begin with. We just helped to build what had been built," he smiled back and tiredly stroked his greying shoulder-length hair.

He breathed heavily before speaking once again.

"So Zhio…please make up your mind about the future of Zel Cantheliz. Everything is in your hands now."

There was silence and he didn't wait for me to answer. He went out wordlessly and left me with a heavy conscience.

Outside the glass windows, skyscrapers owned by Zel Cantheliz and Cryzastic companies towered over the mesmerizing top view of the city. But it stared at me like a curse…

Do I have to, until I die, carry those burdens with me?

I'm lost again, while gazing at the orange sky, of my own purpose in life besides being just a billionaire…

(CLAIRE)

My palms were sweaty and my stomach was churning in anxiety. As the car wheels turned, my mind played possible scenarios that could happen. My family probably knew already what had happened in the bar.

"Don't think about it too much," Deo turned to me with a smile.

"I'll take care of it for you."

"It's just fine," I forced a weak smile. I'm too nervous I couldn't really smile at all.

"You don't have to do what Zhion says. He doesn't have any right to order you around at all."

"I have to help any of my friend's friend in need. That's how friendship works," he bared his perfect white teeth again. He seemed to be around Zhion's age.

"Okay. Thanks," I rubbed both my palms together for warmth.

Everything felt too cold.

"Just play along with our little scripted act," he said.

I was curious what he'd do.
