Hey everyone~ its Kiriko! This is a new project that I just happened to come across on the NU forums and it seemed pretty interesting so I decided to give it a try! The RAW is only 6 chapters in, so when I catch up to them itll have to be the waiting game, but until then I plan on releasing once a week on Mondays until I catch up to the RAWs. I hope everyone enjoys the story! The first chapter has been translated already as a teaser by Rosies Translations, so you can read it here. Enjoy!

I do not have a PhD in the history of the Earth, but I know of the rough course of events.

The moon should have been created not long after the Earth was born.

In other words, there was still about 4.6 billion years until the human race is born.

I shuddered.

This was bad.

Though my soul had changed since I became a mountain, I did not think I could withstand 4.6 billion years of solitude.

My mind will collapse if I dont have anyone to talk to.

Thus, I tried to create a conversational partner.

I sucked up the heat from the magma and stored the excess energy within the crystal while maintaining its original nature.

Here, for several hundreds or thousands of years, Earth was transformed into a scorching hot hell, and I was attacked countless times by magma tsunamis, while receiving direct hits from small meteorites.

The abnormally vast heat energy rapidly changed, and the crystal grew to the size of a gymnasium.nove(l)bi(n.)com

If I use this mysterious energy, then I should be able to create life. After all, its the energy from the collision of the giant meteorite that created the moon. It was absorbed and purified by the mountain, and holds a paranormal power. Itll be easy to create one or two lives from this.

At first, I was thinking about creating humans, but I soon changed my mind.

Right now Earth was a world of scorching heat. Your lungs will get roasted just from breathing, and your entire body will be covered in flames in no time at all. Theyd probably go extinct three seconds after being created. Itll need to be a creature that can withstand super high temperatures.

Their bodies have to be incredibly sturdy. There are still a lot of small meteorites raining down. Even if they arent hit directly by them, there is still a danger of being blown away by the aftershocks, or falling into the fissures of the unstable ground.

They have to be able to survive even without food. If they continue to live on my mountainside, then Ill be able to keep them full with the crystals energy, but itll probably feel too constrained for them if they cant leave the mountain at all.

They have to live for a long time. Since theyll be my conversational partners for the next billion years or so, if they die after a few decades and are succeeded by their children, then those that know me will continually disappear. If a continuous barrage of cycles of meetings and partings occurs over and over again, then my heart will break.

On that note, after considering all those trivialities, I made a dragon.

Its fine even with this burning atmosphere, it has scales and a skeleton capable of withstanding the impact of small meteorites, and like me it grows from absorbing the energy from the magma, so it has an infinite lifespan. It also has the intelligence to be able to converse.

The dragons did not even lend an ear to my words.

I decided to counterattack. My mountain was whittled down and melted by the swarm of dragons until my height reached five thousand metres above sea level.

Because I am a mountain, I do not have the ability to fight. If we were to discuss my methods of attack, then itd probably be causing earthquakes or erupting, but against the sturdy, flying dragons with a high heat resistance, then neither earthquakes nor eruptions would work.

I instead needed someone who would become my defender, an existence that could fight against the dragons.

I created a creature whose body imitated those of humans.

It resembled a human, but-

It was sturdier than a human,

Stronger against heat than a human,

Had a long life,

Was free, but-

Loved the mountain,

It was such a being.

I gave her a powerful weapon made of majority of the mountains crystal.

It will absolutely not melt,

It will absolutely not break,

It will absolutely not be stolen,

And it will definitely be able to strike down the dragons that danced in the sky.

I gave her such a weapon.

I named her the first human, [Sahela], and named the weapon [Mjlnir].

She let out her first cries inside the mountain, and then stood and soon took the weapon in hand, her crimson hair fluttering as she rushed outside.

Sahela had a small enough frame that she was able to run through the narrow tunnels that the dragons could not invade within the mountain.

And then, a one-sided battle against the dragons began.
