Chapter 28 – Misunderstood

Jiang Sihan was shocked stupid.

The man in front of him had bared his heart, should he even try to defend himself at this point? What could he say, that he didn’t have that kind of intention towards Luo Bei, that he threw out trash to repay the Luo grandmother and granddaughter?

In Jiang Sihan’s life, ever since he started pursuing his dream in music, all he could think of was music. He didn’t have lasses1 [javascript:void(0)]Weird wording, I know, but keep in mind Jiang Sihan is from a rural area. in his mind, he had never thought of anyone romantically either. It wasn’t that there weren’t lasses confessing to him, rather he had rejected them all.

What was this?

He didn’t say anything from start to finish.

Zhan Qi and Jiang Sihan had nothing to talk about in the first place. It took a lot of determination for him to let go of Luo Bei. He had thought that although he wasn’t worthy of Luo Bei, he had a sincere heart of gold. And now, there was someone who was more sincere, more diligent than he was. Did he have anything else good enough to show? Nothing. Add to that Luo Bei keeping him at arm’s length these days, he knew Luo Bei was giving him face. This he knew because they grew up together. Since that was the case, why should he continue to entangle himself in this situation?

If he gave up of his own accord, at least he could leave some face for himself and the two would still be able to interact smoothly in the future.

Now that he had said everything he should say, it didn’t make sense to continue drinking with Jiang Sihan. He picked up a can of beer, stood up, settled the bill with the boss and left, leaving Jiang Sihan staring blankly at the table full of braised dishes.

Even though the weather had become colder, the braised dishes wouldn’t last until tomorrow without putting it in the fridge. With this in mind, Jiang Sihan sent Luo Bei a message on WeChat telling her to come help him finish them. There were also things he wanted to clear up with Luo Bei, lest she misunderstood, which would not be good.

Luo Bei came quickly.

Looking at the braised dishes, confusion was painted across her face – she didn’t try to hide it either. She directly asked him, “You bought these?”

Could it be that Jiang Sihan was about to be free from his predicament so he decided to go all out?

Jiang Sihan was not embarrassed to talk about his situation in front of Luo Bei. After all, he was actually poor. Since he considered her a friend now, there was no need to pretend anymore.

“No. Zhan Qi did.”

He didn’t have much money in his hands now, how could he afford to patron an extravagant lu wei restaurant? While braised dishes might not be expensive in the eyes of others, even cheap, for Jiang Sihan, this was a meal worth a hundred yuan. That was enough to sustain him for the first half of the month, he wouldn’t waste such money.

The restaurant’s specialty was its braised duck sausage and braised duck tongue. Luo Bei couldn’t handle the spiciness after a few bites. “How do you know Zhan Qi?”

“I just met him today. He came to me, wanting to have a drink with me and said a few… pretty baffling words.”

Luo Bei was surprised, “What is there to talk about between you two?”

Jiang Sihan was actually quite embarrassed. He lowered his voice and leaned in to say, “He said he liked you, and then he seems to have misunderstood our relationship, thinking that I was throwing out trash and mopping the floor to get your attention…”

Luo Bei was silent.

“He also told me not to let you down, to not wrong you.” Jiang Sihan pointed to the can next to him, “He flattened this as he talked.”

Looking at Luo Bei’s flabbergasted expression, Jiang Sihan continued, “This friend of yours is not a bad guy, but he probably misunderstood. You and Grandma Luo always give me food and invite me over to eat, I feel bad and seeing the dirty, mountainous amount of trash in the corridors every day, Grandma Luo is getting on in years, too, and you’re also a working girl, you shouldn’t be doing these dirty, tiring work, I just thought I could help you out a little.”
