Chapter 284 - Wedding (1): Female Godzilla

The next morning, Mirae woke up to find that KJ had already left. He left her a note that he was going to an early morning shoot for a variety show.

"Wasn't he done with his remaining promotions?" she wondered loudly. Shrugging it off, she freshened up and headed out of the room. She stopped by at Jade's crib to find him sleeping soundly. He looked very tired and pale.

Mirae recalled KJ's words. Was he truly carrying the soul of their unborn child from another timeline? She would have found it very difficult to believe if she had not discovered that Jade could talk. It also explained why both Jade and KJ went into a coma at the same time. It was because of their strange connection which bound them together.

But mostly, she was worried about Jade. Was he going to be alright? Will he be able to survive this timeline? He had been a source of strength for KJ and she would hate to see him die. There must be some way to save him, she thought.

Determined to find a solution, she picked up her bag and headed outside towards her car.

….

She reached her workplace a little before 9. Checking her watch, she rushed towards her cabin while her eyes were scanning around for Somi on the way.

"Shelley!" she called as Shelley passed by. "Have you seen Somi? She was supposed to hand me over some reports this morning."

"I haven't seen madam this morning," Shelley frowned.

"Oh."

Somi isn't here yet? She thought. It was uncharacteristic of Somi to be late for anything. Maybe she had a shooting too. Mirae shrugged and went to her office.

"Psycho come in," she ordered, pressing the intercom. To her surprise, her other assistant, Kim, came in.

"Where's Psycho?" Mirae asked.

"Sunbae hasn't arrived yet," Kim said in an apologetic tone.

"What is going on?" Mirae asked, feeling annoyed. "Where are my staff?"

Kim apologized again and began to take Mirae's morning meeting notes. After Kim left, Mirae was left wondering what was going on. She tried to call Somi and Psycho but both their numbers were busy. She even called Hyun Jung but there was no reply.

"Ugh!" she groaned in frustration. "Where are they?"

….

Somi and Hyun Jung met up with KJ at a private restaurant early in the morning to discuss his plans. He had called them urgently to reveal his intentions for Mirae.

"I want to hold a marriage ceremony for me and Mirae," he informed them. "Tonight at sharp eight pm."

Both of them were gaping at him in astonishment.

"Why make such a plan so suddenly?" Hyun Jung frowned.

"I want to do something special for her," KJ admitted. In their past life, he could not give her a proper life. It was time to make amends. He turned to Somi.

"You're her best friend," he said. "You'd know her preference so I want you to find her the perfect wedding gown."

"Say no more," she smirked. She knew exactly what Mirae wanted and she would waste no time to find her best friend the most beautiful wedding gown.

"But remember, this only stays between us," KJ reminded them. "I've only informed Dasom, Eli and Psycho apart from you guys. Mirae wants a ceremony with only the two of us-"

"Hold up!" Somi objected. "Hell no! It has to be a proper ceremony. I am the Maid of Honor and you'll need a best man too."

"She's right," Hyun Jung agreed. "We are not going to miss out on your ceremony!"

"But-" KJ started to protest but Somi cut him off.

"If you wanna have a wedding ceremony then do it properly," she said sharply. "Have you chosen the rings?"

"Err…"

Somi smacked KJ's head. "You can't have a wedding ceremony without rings!"

"But we already have our own wedding rings!" he protested, rubbing his forehead.

"You still need rings! Honestly, you're such an idiot."

"Fine, I'll go and select the rings," he conceded. Hyun Jung and Somi looked at each other, telepathically exchanging the same thought. KJ was simply hopeless without their help.

"I'll make arrangements for the venue," Hyun Jung said. "One of the churches owes me a favor for helping them out with a case. They'll surely let us use their church. And Riggs can officiate. He's a licensed marriage minister."

"I'll be off to prepare the dress, decor, bridesmaids' clothes, get something borrowed, something blue and ughh!" Somi exclaimed. "You couldn't have given us a day's notice?"

"I-"

"Never mind!" she snapped. "I'll make the arrangements. Who's giving the bride away?"

"Ahh…" KJ stumbled.

"We'll ask Dasom to do it then," she sighed. "And bring your cat too. We'll need a ring bearer."

KJ was staring at them, feeling a little ashamed at his inexperience in romance. But he was also glad to have his close friends help him out with the preparations. He wanted to make this ceremony special for Mirae and it must go perfectly.

"Great!" he said enthusiastically. "I'll pick up Mirae at five o'clock and-"

"No, I will pick her up," Somi insisted. "The bride and groom shouldn't meet before the ceremony because it's considered to be a bad omen. You'll stay away from her the whole day! Now go and get the rings!"

"Yes ma'am!" KJ said at once, feeling scared of her intimidation. He immediately got up and headed out of the restaurant, away from the Maid of Honor turned Godzilla.

"He sure is clueless about these things," Hyun Jung chuckled but Somi gave him a stern look.

"What are you waiting for?" she demanded in a bossy tone. "Go and make the arrangements! Off you go!"

Her gaze was enough to make even Hyun Jung cower away. He rushed after KJ, glad to escape the female Godzilla as well.

As soon as he left, Somi clapped her hands together in excitement. "I'm gonna throw the perfect ceremony for my best friend!" she declared with pride. She took out her phone and called Psycho.

"Psycho!" she said into the mouthpiece. "Get me the list of all the exclusive wedding dress designers of the city within half an hour."

"Half an hour?" he whined. "It's too much of a short notice!"

"Do it now or I'll have your monthly salary cut into half," she threatened.

"On it ma'am!" he yelped and hung up the phone.

She checked her watch. It was 9 AM and she needed to get Mirae to the venue by 6 PM.

"I have only eight hours to prepare for everything," she noted. "Perfect!"

Within thirty minutes, Psycho sent her the details of all the wedding dress designers of the country. Finally, Somi set off to complete her mission.
