Chapter 245 - Comeback (5): Formidable Force

Name:The Idol's Wife Author:Tea_Tae
There was a loud murmur amongst the audience. KJ and Somi stared at Mirae in astonishment. She did not even consult with KJ about this. Dami stood up.

"But Six X is supposed to have a comeback!" she shouted angrily.

Mirae turned to face her. Dami was glaring at her while Mirae simply smiled at her. The media was confused over her attitude. She was smiling at the woman who had an affair with her husband.

"Six X was supposed to make a comeback," Mirae iterated, turning back to the reporters. "However, the leader of Six X, Ms. Dami, is being charged with falsification of information and slandering our artist. She has also breached the terms of the contract she signed that she won't let the image of our company be tarnished at any cost. Furthermore, due to her lies and  manipulation, the comeback of Six X has been severely affected. So the company will sue her on three accounts for a total of five hundred million dollars. Otherwise she will face jail time up to six years."

There was a massive uproar.

"What lies are you spewing?" Dami spluttered. "Lies?"

One of the reporters stood up. "Mrs. Kwon, can you please give us the proof of what really happened that night?" he asked.

"Sure," Mirae replied. "My secretary will show you all a little clip."

Upon hearing that Junki froze. He looked on in horror as Psycho plugged in an USB stick into a large HDTV screen. Slowly, a film began to play.

….

Dongsik was waiting in the cafe, checking his watch every now and then. It was a private room within the cafe and he was sure no one would disturb them there. He looked sideways.

"You're going to meet a very famous celebrity," he boasted. "You lucky son of a gun! Getting to meet such a big personality on your first assignment."

"I'm honored sir," came a meek voice. The other person was not on the camera but from the position, it was clear that he was the one hiding the camera in his bag.

The door opened. In walked Junki followed by a masked figure. They sat across the table.

"Are you sure there are no CCTV cameras here?" the masked figure asked.

"It's a safe place," Dongsik claimed. "My friend owns it. We're perfectly safe here."

"Good," the masked figure said, taking off her mask. It was Dami.

"So what do you two want?" Dongsik asked.

"I know you have a grudge against Kwon Jiwon," Junki stated. "And his slimy wife."

Dongsik's face turned red in anger. The mention of those two enraged him. "Nation's Couple," he sneered. "My ass! They're a farce I tell you! Wouldn't have gotten married if I hadn't exposed their affair."

"Yeah and it backfired on you," Dami said. "You're the reason they got married! But they frolick around the office, giving each other love bites!"

Her fists clenched so tightly that her knuckles turned white.

"They are running the company as if they own it," Junki added bitterly. "They make us sick!"

He took a bottle of water from the table and downed it. "We want them destroyed," Junki went on. "Finished. Separated."

"But why are you so interested in separating them?" Dongsik asked Dami.

"I can't stand her," she whispered in fury. "Not when she shows off her relationship with my KJ. I want her to leave him."

She took a deep breath. "I want you to stir up a scandal," Dami ordered. "With me and KJ. Take secret snapshots of us and prepare an article. I'll lure him to my house and you can take some compromising photos. I know how to make him come closer to me. All you have to do is capture those moments and publish them online. Once the public reads it, that bitch will leave KJ. Then I can swoop in and force KJ to marry me instead! He'd have to do it in order to save his reputation."

Dongsik turned towards his cameraman. "I'll assign you for the job," he stated. He then turned towards Dami. "Wire me fifty thousand dollars to this account. The rest after the work is done."

He put a piece of paper on the table. "By tonight," he demanded.

"Alright," Junki said. "But if anyone finds out about this, then you'll be in trouble too. So lay low for a while."

"Relax," Dongsik scoffed. "They can't harm me. I'll just go to my hometown. With my cameraman doing all the work, I can make up an alibi. All he has to do is give the pictures to the editor and they'll take care of the rest."

Dami nodded. She was determined to have KJ for herself. Even if it cost her group everything.

….

The video ended there. For a while, no one was able to say anything. Dami was shocked while KJ and Somi gaped at the screen.

"We also got the security footage from Miss Dami's house," Mirae went on. "It seems that night when Mr. Jiwon dropped her off, she fell and sprained her ankle badly. So he had to carry her to her apartment. The camera also shows that he exited her house within five minutes. However, the next morning when Ms. Dami met me at the cafeteria, her foot was fine."

Somi gave KJ a furious glare. "Why didn't you tell me that?" she hissed.

"I forgot!" he hissed back

Dami was sweating. A reporter stood up.

"How did you get this footage?" he asked.

"Mr. Dongsik was the one who gave it to us," Mirae said. "He was not given his due amount even after the article was published. So he sent us the footage in retaliation."

But KJ did not buy the lie. He was sure Mirae had planted that spy on Dongsik after he tried to sabotage KJ's image.

"You're lying!" Dami yelled. "He got his due-"

She stopped midway but the damage was done. The truth slipped from her mouth.

"We have the receipts of the transfer, Ms. Dami," Mirae said. "So that collaborates with our side of the truth."

Meanwhile, Junki tried to sneak out of the room but one of the guards caught him.

"Madam!" he exclaimed at Mirae. "I'm innocent! I swear I am!"

But Mirae did not pay any heed to his pleas. She turned towards the reporters, who were so astounded that they could not speak. Kwon Jiwon's wife had rendered them speechless once again. She was a formidable force to be reckoned with. All the accusations and mudslinging they were prepared to do were useless. They were defeated.

"I believe the truth is out," she announced. "Hence, the leader of Six X will pay us five hundred million in compensation and her contract will be terminated. She will also pay the additional production costs of the halted comeback. Otherwise it will be another one year prison sentence for her."

Dami almost fainted. How was she going to pay back so much money?

She looked at Mirae who was now giving her a look of contempt. No matter how much she tried, it was impossible to fight that mighty woman.

She was doomed.
